Hi guys, just want to ask something. I've just used Asus RT-N12HP as my main router changing the old router D-link DIR-615 that was provided by TM Unifi, my question is, Im subscribed for the 5Mbps and by using rt-n12hp, my wireless signal speed is just 144Mbits, is the speed is good enough or it should be more? Plus is there other tweak to increase the signal range in the setting menu? My room is just <33feet away from the router with 3 layers wall (a single storey house, the router is at living room while my room is near to the kitchen at the back).
Thank you guys

how do u measure yr wifi speed n coverage? what was speed using ethernet?

how does new router performance compared to old one?

for houses, that distance, wifi or ethernet should be about the same, i.e. close to theoretical max 5mbps or 0.625MBps.

Just run the speedtest whether can get full speed or not.. for 5Mbps.. I think connected speed >11Mbps already enough.

I just simply measure with network utilities using Mac and by using ethernet I get 100mbits only (weird) and yes I wonder its not the same with witeless connection. Btw I wonder why my coverage, using iphone, didnt get full bar and sometime the signal drop one bar?

Thank you mate for the info

something is not right with the speed u get since both ethernet n wifi speeds are low.
do u remember if the speeds for same devices were about the same with old unifi router?
if yes, then we know its not due to router but could be yr modem or incoming.
if modem is a strong suspect, u need to get unifi people to come test, verify n change it out.

my experience, this asus router will improve overall performance with better stability, wider coverage and gets u closer to max speed.

try using a windows pc to test it again. i do not know if it makes a difference with mac/iphone but i do observe my ipad is slower compared to pc and androids. need others to explain if that is true, need some tweaking in settings somewhere?

I am having this problem too >.<
I just bought it(RT-N12HP B1) few days back and my lappy always got disconnected from the wifi for few seconds and it connect automatically again.

Is there any settings that I configure wrongly? I am new to these things and the shop didn't help me configure. cry.gif

Please help.

I have checked the System log and this shows in the "General Log" after I have disconnected and connect back

Jul 22 10:42:13 pppd[264]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Jul 22 10:42:15 WAN Connection: Fail to connect with some issues.
Jul 22 10:42:15 stop_nat_rules: apply the redirect_rules!
Jul 22 10:42:19 pppd[264]: Connection terminated.
Jul 22 10:42:19 pppd[264]: Modem hangup
Jul 22 10:42:29 pppd[264]: Connected to 00:00:5e:00:01:0d via interface vlan500
Jul 22 10:42:29 pppd[264]: Connect: ppp0 <--> vlan500
Jul 22 10:42:32 pppd[264]: PAP authentication succeeded
Jul 22 10:42:32 pppd[264]: peer from calling number 00:00:5E:00:01:0D authorized

Besides that, I have doubt about the latest firmware for RT-N12HP B1

Need help here. I just bought ASUS RT-N14UHP. After connecting to the Huawei HG8240w modem, I hookup between laptop and router with LAN cable. But nothing happens. How do I get to the QiS screen where I start set up the Unifi ID, Unifi Password and SSID set up? Tension.

I have a problem with this router after 3 week of using. It cannot get full speed of my 30Mbps. I dunno why, configured and even reset the router 2 3 times also doesn't get the full speed. End up buying dual band router which resolve the problem.

I don't suggest people that use 30 Mbps and above speed to use this router.. Go buy dual band router instead of this.
