s400 tempting but was launch Q4 last year.. meanwhile s300 is latest the should make some improvement in it.
with the price not much different s400 should be better den s300.

is just now the budget is above wut i planned for. suppose i want to get s200 but after research didnt know it came out so many other models.

may i know where can get the  best price for it? s400

Have not seen M500 in Malaysia yet. If you like Intel, go for the 335, it is good and cheap smile.gif 240G ~ RM550+/-. (but don't have mSATA version yet, iinm) Intel 5xx series is more high end, it will maintain a price gap with the mainstream SSD tongue.gif
*
i think plextor also has a mSATA version SSD, which has 256GB of storage. hmm.gif
just not sure if warranty is covered in malaysia.

QUOTE(g-pitts @ Apr 28 2013, 10:42 PM)
What is the difference between Y400 & Y500 beside the screen size?
*
1. Y400 uses 14" WLED HD screen while Y500 uses 15" Full HD WLED screen.
2. Y400 has no numpad while the Y500 do.
3. Y500 has better cooling due to its larger internal space than Y400.
4. Y500 comes with 2x GT650M/GT750M SLi as standard while the Y400 needs you to buy it separately.

shocking.gif It mean Y400 is more better than Z400?
*
better in terms of cooling and gaming performance. the Z400 is thinner, so it traps heat easily, making the core i7 not a perfect combo if you intend to game only. also, compared to GT740M on Z400, the Y400 uses GT750M, which surpasses/on par with the performance of a GTX660M.

Guys...sorry to trouble again..
I've narrow it down to few category below. hope someone can provide your opinion.
Between HP and Toshiba, i heard Fujitsu very good, but their design abit urhhhh. NO?

BUDGET MAX RM3k

HP -
spectra xt13-2215tu : RM2899 <-- backlit keyboard osum looking.
Envy 4-1204tx / 1238 tx :rm2.1-rm2.4k(between these 2, which is better)

Toshiba -
U840 - (dont know which model bcoz im looking their website no much info)<--backlit keyboard osum too
any1 can enlighten me toshiba ultrabook with below 3k budget..
*
if you play mid-high end games, go for the HP envy 4 with 32GB mSATA SSD, which is RM2399. if you just intend to get an ultrabook for office usage only, suggest you get the U840.

raymond, thanks for your suggestion. may i know why you pick this?

btw, between spectra and envy4. the different i check are the below:

spectra
128gb msata ssd
keyboard backlit
13.3inch
envy4
500gb sata,32gb msata ssd
no keyboard backlit
14inch
please enlighten me this harddisk spec.
is it regarding the space and speed?
*
yes, it is regarding space and speed. the spectra uses SSD while the envy 4 uses 500GB mechanical hard drive with 32GB mSATA SSD caching. the processor and graphics card are different too.

not a good deal since the specs arent good enough. it is better you spend overbudget a bit on dell inspiron 14.

Preferred Brand: Lenovo seems good? Or is there any other better one?
Budget: RM3000 MAX (not going to top up anymore)
Usage: 3D rendering, animation and heavy graphic works
Preferred laptop/screen size: 14.0,15,15.6 ...
Prefer Nvidia graphic card.. heard that Nvidia card is better for graphic works, is this true?
If possible, light-weight.. not too heavy can dy..  notworthy.gif
and another thing I'm worrying is overheat problem, cuz usually I'll be using the laptop for hours continuously..

for my usage most ppl will recomend pc but im not looking into PC for now cuz PC is not mobile  smile.gif

true that nvidia graphics cards are good for graphical works. for light weight options, you can take a look at lenovo z400 as the weight for this laptop is around 2kg only. if you worry about overheating, then you can get core i5 option. core i7 will idle at 55-60C which is quite hot. prices are RSP and negotiable. smile.gif

Hi guys, need some recommendation

Preferred Brand: Any
Budget: Around 2k
Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 and below
Usage: Mobile workstation, long battery hrs (5+),
Graphic card: Intel, if available preferable with nvidia chip due to software compatibility
*
Dell Inspiron 14-3421, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT625M@RM1699[1.99kg], Win8SL, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 6-cell

Lenovo G480, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1699, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS

i would suggest the dell, since it uses ULV processor and switchable graphics card which helps to save battery life and last longer up to 6 hours. also, use the remaining budget to extend the warranty to 3 years for the piece of mind. prices are RSP and negotiable. icon_rolleyes.gif smile.gif

the ASUS will be a better deal but it is quite heavy, it is weighted 2kg. so IMO, the HP envy 4 will be a better deal. but why dont you choose lenovo? lenovo has international warranty, especially the Z400.
