I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to:
Lenovo G480, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1899, 4GB, 1TB (5400rpm)

it doesn't have to be better, just cheaper. Thanks!

1) Preferred Brand : AnyBrand
2) Budget : RM4500 and below
3) Usage : Work mainly and also decent for gaming
4) Preferred Laptop/Netbook screen size : 13-15
5) Additional : Priority highest from 8gb ram, less than 2kg(best if 1.5kg), dedicated graphic, reasonable battery life

Vostro 5460 seems okay but limited with 4g ram sad.gif

no, my mean is if there are no vents beneath your laptop, so it is unlikely for the dell to absorb cool air.

Hmmm nothing can do with it then.

By the way, what is the awesomeness of Lenovo Y500 over Dell Inspiron 15R SE except the dual GPU SLI Power?
Feel like jump ship to the lenovo GT750M SLI but still doubt worth the money or not sad.gif

the Y500 has better cooling system cuz there is a large vent beneath the laptop cover. the Y500 has full HD screen as standard and it comes with cool red backlit keyboard.

HP [Ultrabook] Envy4-1204TX, i5-3337U + AMD HD8750M + 32GB mSATA +500GB(5400rpm)@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 2GB, W8
Lenovo Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty; colors: chocolate

for the vostro, you can upgrade it to 8GB with your current budget. it comes with a 4GB stick but the vostro only has single slot, so you can ask a technician to upgrade it to single stick 8GB, and sell off your 4GB stick. you can even add a 32GB mSATA as a cache memory to make it load faster. these are also applicable to the laptops suggested above.

Z400 is lighter, thinner.

Y400 has more powerful GPU and better ventilation.

1. it is possible but you have to sacrifice your current mechanical hard drive if you want to install SSD unless you want to swap out the ultra bay graphics card and insert a caddy drive bay into it for dual storage.

2. SSD works without mechanical components like a blank disc, mechanical arrow and something like laser reader. they are just a board full of chips, just like a RAM sized chip on the board. read here for more details.

3. SSDs are built to increase loading speed, which you already answered yourself. any brands doesnt matter even though the R/W speed is different, just important is the RMA rate of the particular brand should be lower, which is Intel.

Hi, masters please help! biggrin.gif

1. Any brand
2. Below 3k
3. Autocad, FIFA, Dota 2 (no lags! ), preferable with touch screen! biggrin.gif
4. 15.6" and keyboards with cool light (backlit) are preferable! biggrin.gif

Actually I've spotted Y500 and Y580 but the price is just over my budget.
