Hi Jialat

May I know what does the RM7500 customized lasik comprises for?

Most of the Lasik centres provide a lasik package which includes follow-up appoinments 1 day, 1 week, 1 month & 1 year. They also include a lifetime guarantee for retreatment for any regression.

Does the package offered in Ara Damansara includes all these as well?

And how much does the pre-assessment costs? Or is it imclusive in the RM7500.

Appreciate your kind assistance.

Hi, those follow up sessions are quite standardised. Should have been included. All lasik centres charge separately for pre assessment, which can cost up to few hundred. I can arrange 20% discount on doctor consultation fee for you.

Hi
Thanks for your reply

1. Have tried it with different power contact lens as per doctor advise and found I can function normally. Work,  drive day and night. So am going ahead with monovision custom lasek next week.

2. You're right, after giving it some thought if it's not broken why fix it?
*
How much power you maintained after monovision lasik? For left and right ?
Do you hv presbyopia? power for each eye?

Its time to contribute back to this thread

-I did my custom lasik for both eyes with Dr Ainur Rahman at Ara Damansara Medical Centre 4 months ago.
-Cost was about RM10k
-Due to my age, 40, i opted for Monovision.

Pre OP
- Went to check for suitability for lasik about for 2 visits, to make sure cornear was thick and my eyes was not dry. Started with eye drops pre op.
- Doc did ask the reason for doing lasik and highlighted all the dangers/complications. If i wasnt so determined i might have postphoned or walked away, anyway imho, being a salesperson myself, not a good tactic for doing business as it makes me think but i appreciate the candidness.
- Due to a sports event, i put on my contact lenses and had to delay the lasik op for a week.

OP
- On the day of the surgery, scariest part was being wheeled into the ops room. Antibiotics and anesthesia drops in both eyes, the laser op part lasted less than 20 minutes i think. No pain, only slight discomfort.
- Given eye shield, eye drops, sleeping pills, painkillers and discharged. Told to go home and rest early and come back tomorrow for consultation.

Post Op
- Can actually drive to the hospital tomorrow myself, eyes checked and was ok and was told to come back in a weeks time.
- Intially the halo effect for night driving was bad, but after the 3 months period it gradually improves. Now in my 4th month i dont feel anything and i drive around confidently at night.
- Was told to fully recover it'll take about 6 months time.
- Last check up at the 3 month period i have perfect vision in my dominant eye and about -125 in my non dominant eye.
- eye drops can be bought cheaper at outside pharmacy, Dr Ainur was cool with it and encouraged to do so.
- Can read things up close and enjoy the sports that i do. In fact during a recent competition, podium finish and compliment from my team mates.

After waiting close to 27 years to be glasses free, cant really describe the feeling. No need to fumble for glasses after waking up, squint hard or rush for time when putting on contact lenses, no more being called 4 eyed boy/unker! Thank you Jialat and all who leave the experience here which encouraged me to go for it.

You are most welcomed. Glad to know that you are enjoying the clear vision. Dr Ainur is very straightforward guy that doesnt hard sell any lasik to his patients, so I am not surprised many hesitated to proceed after check by him 😆

I never wear specs eventhough my eye not really 20/20 now when the age is catching up i find it difficult to read whatsapp messages. The night shift mode on the iphone and mac display make it even worse, i have to blow it all the way up to read comfortably.

last time i have no problem to read some label in low lit room now i need torch light.

So what kinda lasik that i need?

hi guys,

need some opinion. yesterday went to THONEH to do a pre check before proceeding further for LASIK. everyhting is good and they recommended me to do LASIK as my eye powers is not that bad or SMILE (If i prefer). I was thinking what do you guys think of SMILE. Cause i do a lot of sports and i have quite dry eyes sometimes and a bit of bad habit of rubbing my eyes(will control myself after tongue.gif ) .. what do you guys think i should do LASIK OR SMILE? beacsue my first choice is of course SMILE as i read its more advance and painless n less dry eyes bla bla bla. haha. but umm from what i read in this thread that a lot of people are skeptical and had bad experience with it. anyways thanks for reading

thanks for your help

Hi all, anyone else here had experience doing lasik with dr yap of USJ eye specialists? Package is pretty attractive and cheaper than vista or optimax. My eyes myopic is about 750 for each eye with astig below 200 for each eye, no dry eye issue as per that doctor but after reading up here I'm thinking of seeking second opinion beforehand.

Its using blade, old method. Thats why it’s cheap. You can call the clinic to confirm.

If given the choice to do lasik in Singapore vs Malaysia, is there any difference in the surgeon, techniques and equipment?

Let's not point the obvious 3 times difference though

Hi Jialat
Why you don’t recommend relex smile ?
Lasik better than relex smile ?
Why ?
As been told by doctor that relex smile is less side effect than lasik
