I am having trouble big time registering my Wise card with maxis easy pay. Always says the transaction is rejected by bank when signing up. As usual, call to HL, they'd say I type the cvv wrongly lah, or I used too long to register and session expired lah...call maxis then requested to try with other card...
*
Mine was registered ok on first attempt at end April this year.
The card details are saved, and no re-keying in subsequent payments. nod.gif

It used to take 2 days to post, but took 3 days last month causing me mis-calculated my June CB.
I paid on 28 Jun 7.40am, should have posted on 30June, but surprise to see it posted on 1 July. doh.gif
It is kinda maximizing the CB, that's why do it 2 days before month end in case there are other expenses come in. tongue.gif

I also had a transaction posted into the NEXT month... which totally screwed my July Spend.
So next time need to really "take care" of month-end transactions.

Just like Maybankard 2 AMEX calculation of rebate.... if your June swipe is posted in July, it will be calculated under July's quota of RM100 [For HLB WISE]
*
Hmmm, I thought you did get RM99 CB for June?
It is true that the delay posting dates do affect our following month spending.
Actually, what I did was using Maxis Easy pay as adjustment. Since I have extra credit with Maxis (over paid with 10% CB), hence I can choose not to pay Maxis if my current month CB has been max out by other categories.

I find this overpayment to payees (Maxis here, and Unifi & TNB for my Amex case) have 3 benefits:
1. Gain 10% CB (and ~7.5% for Amex) which is higher than 3% FD if I keep my cash in the bank
2. Can skip paying the payees if I have max out my CB for certain months (like year end sales, unexpected hospital bill, etc)
3. I can pay any time (no worry of line being cut), like near month end instead of bill due date (since my acct is already in credit) after assessing my CB amount.

It is easy to do:
- Max the CB : Pay any amount (Maxis is RM30 min)
- Convenient: Pay via internet at home at night
- Consistent posting date: Maxis take 2-3 day to post (Unifi and TNB post on the same day)

This works for me as I notice my spendings are seasonal and not consistent over the months/years. Just my findings and sharing. icon_rolleyes.gif

For those who wish to change their statement date. Please beware and check properly with the CS how you suppose to make the current month payment , else you might risk yourself being charge interest.
*
Can you share your case with dates, so we can see why bank charge interest on this change?
I changed mine from 25th to 11th of month on 14March.
They skip my 25Mar statement and only generate on 11Apr. Credit period extended half a month with no interest charged. flex.gif

But the problem is my first statement is 17th july and the due date is 6 august... online banking shown last payment receive 5th august. So how to charge late payment lei? dun tell me approve the card on 2nd july then straight charge gst n straight give statement. Something wrong with their system la...

Card approve /gst charge 2 july
1st statement : 17 july
call to request for change : 30 july. (request to change to 1st of the month and CS claimed effective next month).
interest charge on 1st august???? if back date that they accuse i pay late but then cant tell me which date i should pay in order i nt get charge.

Just wonder can statement date backdated??? maybe im noob but i never heard that i must pay the gst once the cc approve (CS mention interest charge based on the GST charged on 2nd july).

they did waive it after wasting money calling them for 15 minutes. not even worth the time and money spent .
*
QUOTE(ronnie @ Aug 7 2013, 04:06 PM)
I can guess the problem.
You wanted 1st of every month..... so the RM50 charge became overdue on 2 July 2013
*
Since you called on 30Jul and request for 1st of month, so I guess they gen your next statement on 1Aug. (That is real quick.)
Maybe since your next statement is generated hence your last statement balance become overdue.

So, if you wish to change to 1st of month, you should have call to change after that. (I time my call for my case.)
In your case, call on 2Aug onward. Then your next statement would not be 1Aug and not 17Aug but 1Sep. So you next statement contain transaction from 18Jul until 1Sep (1.5mth), and due on 21Sep (> 2mth since 18Jul!) icon_idea.gif
The moral of the story, call after the statement day you wish to change to.

P.S. I like my statement due dates to fall a few days after my payday. laugh.gif

Wow, you have so many CB CC drool.gif

Would like to know, for your Wise + OCBC Ti + AMEX, do you change your statement date to have:
(1) due date falls at month end just after your payday to make full payment?

or

(2) move due date based on available cash rebates round the month to max up the cash back for each card?
*
All my cards (Wise,MB2Kard,OCBC Ti,Watami,etc) due at month end to optimize my cash flow.
Though a bit inconvenient to calculate monthly expense and monthly CB according to calendar month, but I figured the cash flow outweigh the convenience. Just keep in spreadsheet to monitor CB utilized. I am tracking all my transactions anyway. icon_rolleyes.gif

It does make sense to me.

But what do you mean by cash flow outweigh the convenience?

Cash flow = nett income?

Meaning that you prefer the flexibility to manoeuvre your nett income rather than put it in the SA to pay for your CC?
*
It is just my way of handling my cash flow lah, i.e. get paid, clear debt, keep cash for daily use, put balance into eFD (if got balance lah tongue.gif ), get paid, and the cycle continue... icon_rolleyes.gif

I have learnt my lesson to pay at least 3 days before the month end. In the past 7 months, my Maxis tranx dates are always the next day (even paid at 7am) except once on the same day; and take 2 days to be posted. Ever since, I will "close acct" on 27/28. tongue.gif

Should be within October's CB. Confirm them on 28 Nov.
Posting dates can be on the same day as transaction dates or 2-3 days later depends on merchant.

You can actually achieve >10% net by spending less than RM1000 and get RM100 cash back.
This is because HLB uses round up to the nearest RM, and breakdown per category chosen
Eg.
Mobile Bill : RM205 (gets RM21 cash back)
Petrol Bill : RM505 (gets RM51  cash back)
Grocery Bill : RM275 (gets RM28 cash back)
Total Spend : RM985, Cash Back received : RM100
Nett Cashback = 10.15%
Sorry for the late response. I reexamined my expenses based on some pointers posted by aeiou228, then came back for your post. You have posted very useful info too, which I need some time to grasp & ascertain.

From my previous transactions & based on your example, I'm confident that I can control my mobile & grocery bills to spend less than RM1k but achieve 10% CB. However, the petrol bill is a bit difficult to deal with. Happened to me more than once, the self service card terminal/petrol pump is out of service. So, no choice but to swipe card at the counter. Really messed up my minimum 10 swipes doh.gif

I've learned something new from you, thanks! From now on, have to keep track on the amount that I swipe to exploit & maximise "profit".

Wise spending! icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, getting >10% effective return is very possible. I achieved 10.09% in Sept; 10.05% in Oct (projected), aiming for 10.15% in Nov. tongue.gif
All other months I got between 9.91% to 10.00% effective returns.
But, you got to know what, when, how much you are using this card to max out the benefits.
As pointed out by ronnie, 10.15% would be the highest effective return.

I noticed from my transactions that the easiest way to achieve 10% CB is to make sure that my expenses do not exceed RM1K per month. Not possible to hit exactly RM1k & gain 10%, unless the swipes are RM100 x 10.

Next time must have an eye on detail & implement the strategy to exceed 10% CB flex.gif

tbheng, ronnie, aeiou228 Was wondering, if it is possible to share how you guys keep track on your spending...coz I'm pretty sure that you guys possess more than 1 CC. May I learn how you guys set up record keeping and filing systems? If it's not convenient to post here publicly, can just give rough examples or tips? I can figure out the rest myself.

I'm practising the lazy way.  tongue.gif  I just agak-agak spend till about two third of the calender month then login to copy patse transactions details onto excel file. From excel file, you can auto sum and voila !
*
Ya, I used Excel too. I record based on cc slips and confirm from internet banking transaction history.
Almost all my frequent retail merchant swipes will get posted between 0 - 3 days.
The key is to know your total usage per cc for the month.
I don't swipe this card after 28th of month to avoid early/late posting that affecting CB calculation. tongue.gif

Ah ! In this case, I will stick to desktop pc to copy and patse onto excel file then auto sum.

I use copy-paste method from the internet banking screen to my laptop Excel template.
The only one that prevent copy-paste was the AEON internet banking screen. So I do a print-to-pdf and then copy-paste from the pdf content into Excel. laugh.gif
Excel is great, I use various formula/condition to auto calc, things like if it is weekend, if it is 5%/1%; 2xTP or 5xTP; TP (and in RM value) cumulated/redeemed; round up/down; CB by category; effective return; projection of how much balance (no of swipes and amount) I am away from the max CB; cumulative CB from each card; no of EPP installments reamianing; annual spent by category, recon between statement and physical slips; link cc payment entries to my IBG/SA account entries; etc. nod.gif I still feel I can do more, hence am adding progressively as I go along.

Sorry for late reply.
My whole workbook contain too much of personal details lah... blush.gif
I have built on this workbook for the pass 10+ years, including my SA, FD, CC, Pays, EPF, Income Tax, UT, Net worth, etc.
If I remove those items, the worksheet will leave with plenty of error and missing referential links.

Just to share 2 of my formula, I believe there are other methods, but these work for me. icon_rolleyes.gif

1. Weekend calculation
B164=Transaction Date
K164=TEXT(B164,"ddd")
I164=IF(K164="Sat",ROUND(H164*5%,2),IF(K164="Sun",ROUND(H164*5%,2),0))

2. Accumulating categorised swipe amounts
Q1="Petrol"
Q162=SUMIF($N163:$N173,"="&Q$1,$H163:$H173)
N163 to N173 are cc swipe amounts from statement
H163 to H173 are cc swipe categories from statement or manually key
Example:
N163=50
H163="Petrol"

Oh... Thanks for your compliment. blush.gif I am just learning my way along.
Keeping track of cc has gone more complex with various TnC imposed by the banks.
Categorising my cc transactions not only for WISE CB, but also for me to see how much I spend on each categories monthly/yearly (accumulated across all cc & cash). icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for sharing the formulas in excel. But pardon my ignorance, do you think you can enlighten me more on the red statements?
"projection of how much balance (no of swipes and amount) I am away from the max CB" means how much more I could swipe before I max out the CB for a particular cc. Says for WISE, it needs 10x min RM50 swipes, and RM1k spending to max out RM100 CB. So I keep track of "10 minus number of swipe >= RM50 done so far" and also "RM985 minus SUM(all swipe amount done so far)"

*Note: In fact, if you are observant enough (as pointed by ronnie previously also), the max spending here is only RM985 instead of RM1k for the total from 3 categories to get max CB of RM100. Effective CB of 10.15% cool2.gif

"cumulative CB from each card" means how much CB gain for a particular card at the point in time. Says for WISE, todate I have swiped RM225 for petrol and RM355 on grocery, hence cumulative CB so far is RM23+RM36=RM59 (round up). Bear in mind the round up is by spending in each categories. And I only swipe on the categories that entitled for 10% CB. tongue.gif This will mean an effective CB of 59/580 = 10.17% ! brows.gif

At least if you spread it, those transactions won't be so obvious. HLB may have foreseen we will do so, but at least make them look like natural spending. The last thing we all want is that HLB stops the cashback (like OCBC) because we all swipe RM50 x 10 transactions in the same day. Not that wise, after all.
