 how to transfer all the layer in one document, to another document 4 Adobe Illustrator?

i created two illustrator file (.ai), both with layers now i wanna transfer 1 of the file all the layers into another file... how??

give example like

file a got 10 layers in illustrator file...
file b got 5 layers in illustrator file....

now i wanna merge both file together...move the 10 layers in file a to file b
mean will be total 15 layers in 1 file....

anyone know how?

afaik, i'd lock all layers except 1.. then select all objects and copy.. then go to the other document, create new layer and paste the objects inside.

repeat the whole process.

means if 1 document i got 50 over layer....have to do 50 over times? swt....no other better way?

unless you're willing to sacrifice the layers and copy all the objects into a new layer in the new document. maybe you could bring this layer copying thing up in the next Adobe wish list. smile.gif

copying 5 layers into another file is a piece of cake... but yea.. copying 50 layers into another file is a pain... then again, who on earth works on Illustrator with 50 layers?! IMHO, that would be plain stupid.

A smart person will use SUB LAYERS in their work.

If you sumbit this to Adobe, I can bet that they'd be laughing at your request.

Anyway, you can just hide the layer instead of locking it, that way, you'd see what you're copying over.
