Is it me only or the maxis fibre for sg buloh all gone? Was okay till 1am last night now no internet at all. Fibre modem seems to be connected as the link/auth leds are okay.

Btw, what is maxis technical fault reporting number for fibre broadband? Couldn't call the number listed in the bill.

Tweeted to maxislisten and they asked me to reset the router and putting back the login/password. They said nothing wrong with my account on their end and no reported problem in my area .. derr.. did testing using both my own router/openwrt & the techocolour and both couldn't connect this morning. Anyway, will follow what they've suggested tonight but I really doubt it is router problem.

Okay, found the problem, i believe unifi guy ran some script that updated my btu and resetted all my configuration that are non standard. Reupload my backup config on my BTU, now back to normal again.

I thought VOIP uses 822? I'm using VLAN 822 for VOIP at the moment.

Then you need to get RJ45 to RJ11 converter ot get a RJ45 DECT phone
*
You need a SIP phone to be able to use VOIP, converting from RJ45 to RJ11 and connect it to your phone won't work. Not that many companies selling SIP phone out there .. and if you still need to use your VOIP, just use the technocolour for that. For me, I'm lucky since I've HG850a, the VOIP can be configured to work on Maxis VOIP.

Does anyone have this problem?

Ive pluged in the hdd to the usb port but i cant seem to find it on my network.

Need setting or what?

You need to configure the sharing on your router first before it is available. Maxis doesn't have the latest guide on newer V3 router but I believe you could refer to the older guide/interface, the basic thing should be the same.

Anyone experiencing frequent disconnects on Maxis fibre? What was your solution? 'Cause I'm getting disconnected every other hour and it's pissing me off to no end.
*
Are you getting disconnected from the WIFI side or WAN side?

Hi all, newbie here. I'm planning to sign up for the 10Mbps plan, anything I should be aware of? icon_question.gif
Oh and are there any other (hidden) charges other than RM148?
Feel free to 'educate' me smile.gif

Any reason why you want to go for maxis and not unifi? Read the first page till the last one and then decide.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I've heard from many people around me that Unifi isn't really that stable.
If you don't mind, please point it out for me that why do you think Unifi > Maxis  tongue.gif
*
As stated by previous reply, Maxis is running on top of Unifi for the end of mile connection, anything goes wrong, your downtime will be doubled, I've experienced this myself. So .. if Unifi is not stable, I would say that Maxis is double that .. I moved from Unifi to Maxis with the thought of having double the speed with less than what I paid for Unifi.. I was wrong! You can barely feel the speed increase, yes, I could get 10Mbps or so connection when testing with local server, but we usually browse/download from overseas servers. My average speed with Maxis is the same as what I had with Unifi. And another point that you may want to look at, the throttling done on P2P, I don't use P2P that much tho'. And good luck if you choose Maxis tongue.gif

WAN. No issues with wifi. What are your thoughts?
*
If it is from WAN side, nothing much you could do other than file a report. Are you using landline fibre modem or VDSL? Either way I believe Maxis should be able to help out.

I don't think it is a sabotage, they don't get anything by sabotaging Unifi customer. I had problem before when migrating from Unifi to Maxis, I had it to parallel run it for couple of months before decided that I should terminate the Unifi. Since Unifi and Maxis has different setup, they also changed the fibre modem password on their side but without updating it on my modem. This I blame it on the uncompetent Maxis installer. He should've follow the procedures and not by checking that everything was working okay and that should be it. No auth/link can be caused by physical disconnection too. So, nothing much you could do other than calling Maxis and have an appointment with both Unifi and Maxis technicians again.

Hope so ... mine suddenly doesn't want to work early of the month and found out that my HG850 BTU has been reconfigured remotely and having my old UNIFI settings in it. Took me hours to figure it out.

It seems that maxis knows the video/audio streaming problems but couldn't rectify it. I believe this has to do with their backend software that throttle p2p. FB video is uselessly slow, and Netflix & Hulu having the same buffering problem too. This has been happening for me for a week now. And checking their support discussion board, they only remedial they ask is to reboot our router. Grrr..

Maxis is capping the speed to iTunes Radio and netflix. I've been having severe buffering from these 2 sites since last week. When my use DiGi broadband, no buffering at all. What the f*** is happening?
*
Do you use unblock-us or VPN? I'm using unblock-us and netflix is buffering all the time now. Thinking of going for VPN if this resolve the problem.

Agreed .. Maxis FTTH is now totally useless to watch Hulu or Netflix. And loading photos & video from FB took ages. If you're not interested on streaming, then FTTH is a okay. BTW, I can feel the lag on my office VPN to UK too, will wait for few more weeks, if this still happening, might pay RM500 and jump back to Unifi.

i think i'm fortunate..  mine has been pretty good.  I'm getting the speeds i signed up for. So no complains.

Jumped on the netflix and hulu+ bandwagon lately.  and initially the experience was so so... No HD...

But have been spending late night stuffing around.  and i think its because the technicolor router is not so good when it comes to dns stuff.  Either that or i have something lagging up my system that i haven't discovered.

With vpn no problem with hd, so i was always wondering why.  So its seems the added router works..
*
May I know which VPN you're using now? I'm using strongVPN and I couldn't get HD now. Previously, was on unblock-us, no VPN, HD all the time.

Just logged a report with MaxisListen/twitter, so if only few that having this problem, it seems to be with account setting. They've created a case no for me.

After almost two to three weeks of slowdown to US servers, and unsatisfactory answer given by Maxis (they called and told us that upgrade will be held in coming 1 to 3 months to resolve this issue, with no exact date / guarantee), and decided to close the ticket with the above remarks. Decided to log a case to CFM (albeit I doubt it'll help to resolve the issue).

The thing that I couldn't get it .. why the sudden slowdown? They must have put something in that causes the slowdown? I believe I'll get the same answer as you got there.
