Well, i know it is a cheap mobo, just want to know the ability of its in overclocking. If not good, then i wont buy any high performance RAM such as OCZ or Gskill DDR500. It seems does not support PCI lock feature in bios, then anyone at here experience in highly OCing of it?

I have checked with the clockgen, and PCI is locked at 33.34Mhz. But the FSB cant go beyond to 240Mhz, i duuno why! ??? Maybe currently iam using DDR 266. Sigh, i have searched about this mobo information on OC and found out this mobo is not overclock user friendly!

Checked with CPUz , FSB:DRAM = CPU/12 . Eventhough i set it to 100, it also cant go beyond to 240Mhz, so i set it to Auto and let it run at 154Mhz

This board not a good choice for overclocking, unstable after overclock,
cant go for high HTT, no CPU voltage adjust, you can see the China MSI forum, the user complain a lot |

Perhaps the board is somewhat unstable and prone to defects provided the vcore is tampered with. Probably the best MSI board is the K8N Neo2 and K8N Diamond overclocking wise, for me the rest are just bullcrap particularly the MSI K8N SLI FI. |

i have flashed to the v1.0 bios, 240Mhz can boot but cant log on the windows properly. The rest bios version also tried, gave-up lastly! With the latest bios version, v1.6, 230Mhz is the highest i can go. I tried my friend's kingmax DDR 400 and set the speed to DDR333 but then FSB also failed to run at 240MHz.

QUOTE(Gxen @ Apr 16 2006, 12:22 AM) Wrong. This mobo can o/c real high, provided u r using the version 1.0 bios that came from K8N Neo3 GOLD edition (note that, there r slight differences in them..check your box) I have attached the bios here (However i'm not sure if this is the bios. I have sold the mobo and this is the only one that indicates it's version 1...I'm not responsible if ur mobo KABOOM if it's wrong bios If u googled around, it will come out with people saying AMD asked MSI to change the bios so that sempron users can't o/c at all. QUOTE(swgiant @ Apr 16 2006, 06:42 PM) From braingan's mobo. He hits 370HTT i think. One more thing is, the mobo does not allow Vcore adjustment for CPU that doesn't have Cool N Quiet support. This post has been edited by davidletterboyz: Apr 16 2006, 07:14 PM |
