Speaking of recabling and ksc-75, here's my ksc-75 that is reborned just 2 hours ago by non other than our PcWorks here. Any of u guys here that heard rumours about what these little cable mods can do... trust me, its no rumour =)

Attached Image

Loving this phones now, a little problem occured during the mod, but everything was fine, and oh... my deepest apologies to Tek and Tachikoma for keeping you 2 waiting =(

Took the cable home right after the mod, didnt wanna listen to it first and was thinking to get home, bath, get into the mood, then properly audition it. Unfortunately, hands was itchy while waiting for dinner... so i listened to it while waiting for my dish to be served....

was pretty noisy back then, didnt have the chance for in-depth analysis, however, the most distinct difference are the more balanced tone. For me, the only drawbacks for the ksc-75 was the highs, it gets really annoying for some tracks and its way too bright for my liking, the recabling get all that back to balance, and somehow on tracks like "hotel california", "True Colours - Emi Fujita" i do notice slightly improved bass impacts...

well.. thats all for now, im dead tired. Once again, thanks to Tachikoma for the ride home =)

u sure recabling ada increase in performance? or in a more suitable words, increase the listening experience/pleasure? or it just a placebo effect? as for now, im impressed with the detail produced by my ksc-75, compared to old px100.

I'm comparing by memory here, but I think the recable does make the ksc-75 sound somewhat less muffled (sorry lah I'm used to more detailed phones =P), and... how to say arr, more refined perhaps? The recable... whether its worth it or not is subjective, but don't expect an improvement like say, fitting a skyline engine inside a proton wira... biggrin.gif (assume that this is physically possible, kay?)

tachi..the ksc75 was never muffled ler. maybe it was the other canalphone that was in your ears yesterday lol. As for me, the recabled 75s have improved bass response and a tad improvement on the clarity and a slight decrease of the highs which can sometimes can shrilly..and ofcourse all this is IMO and YMMV.

as for your detailed headphones .. me likes the dreamy one wink.gif

It does increase my listening pleasure, placeabo effect? nope i dun think so... it does makes difference, well.. at least for me it does. I do think each of us has different taste in sounds, an RM5k cans can sound just like a RM50 to the ears of some. (just like a colleague of mine sweat.gif)

One thing thats for sure about the ksc-75, the difference of a properly burned-in and a brand new ones. My ksc-75 is nearly about a year old, and last 2 months i got another new set which was meant for my gf, both of them really sounded very very differently. Especially the highs which are much much more subtle than of a new ones.

Anyways... i do enjoy the recabled ksc-75, for the price (RM80+45=120)... i doubt i can actually find something that sounds better and as comfortable as the ksc-75... though i actually find that the new cables are a lil too flashy to my liking sweat.gif

Statements above are all just IMHO.

muffled...? sweat.gif i think its the opposite laugh.gif

for sure, the spark plug which is around the same price as ksc-75 do perform EXTREMELY bad, and very very "muffled" is the proper word to describe it. Never expected the same brand with a close price range can be this much of a difference sweat.gif

And yea, i do prefer the "dreamy" types as well, sometimes, certain details can be a spoiler to a pleasant track and its better not to hear them laugh.gif

*cough* that dreamy headphone he's talking about is the SR-Gamma Pro electrostat which is anything but un-detailed =P and I meant "muffled" in a relative way... as far as cheapies go they're not I suppose. But IMO the KSC-75 does lack some extension in the upper end (and yes, a headphone can be sibilant and still lack treble extension)

sigh sigh, i cannot afford to be poisoned by headphones... im not really a headphone dude, prefer speakears and if i were to go portable... tak kan wan me to bring a headphone and put it on in public sweat.gif

These days its really dangerous to walk around with expensive stuff, when im outside, i wont bring much money.. at most, just my nano,ksc-75 and even my phone ill just bring my z610i. Im prone to being robbed sweat.gif lost so many expensive belongging due to being rob. Therefore i think the ksc-75 is a good choice to go portable, its cheap and it sounds good and someone wants to rob me, ill just give everything to him laugh.gif plus, i dont really like in ears... so tell me, is there anything better than my current portie choice? tongue.gif
