Anybody know the difference between Zopo models C2 / C3 / ZP980 ???

they look really similar both in design and specwise, I'm a bit confused....

C3 has curved sides. Looks different. I hear it was for the ladies but the curved sides also makes the phone less flimsy.

Rule of thumb - When in doubt, grab what's cheapest but with the minimal specs you can live with. In more simple terms, get the best bang for your buck. Phone should easily last you 1-2 years. China phones are moving fast. No matter what you buy today, 6 months from now there'll new brands/models that'll entice you.

Many thanks for the 2 links, however they are a bit inconclusive.
They compared the C2 to the C3 , C3 has tapered edge, but nobody confirmed/verified whether the C2 had gorilla glass or not.

Nothing mentioned about the ZP980 either.

What's your opinion on firmware support between Zopo & Umi?
Which one do you think would provide better software support?

Don't take this wrongly but I'm trying to figure out the gist of your reply. What's wrong with 3G only? Do we have full LTE coverage for the entire nation? Or how many % of Malaysia has LTE service?

And how is seeing link related to what I posted? Do you absolutely need to run Epic Citadel with 'Ultra High Quality' settings for a small smartphone? If so, your eyesight must be really good.

and he tested at Epic Citadel... he just realized that SGX lose to Andreno 320...

and if u dare u try mount .mkv format to watch it at ur any china phone or apple dev...

MKV is only a container format...it depends on what's in the container. The SGX may not have the decoding capabilities for some of the MKV enclosed files. It can happen with all GPUs since formats do change over time.

Nobody says anything of that sort but perhaps not everyone plans to use their phones for hard core gaming. Am fairly sure if someone is that hard up for gaming, he/she won't mind paying top dollar to get the absolute best hardware.


Btw, quality of images you see/perceive at youtube has nothing to do with internet speed. Images may be cached and watched later. What's more important is the cameras they used to produce the film. Cheaper/lousier camera generally create weaker imagery.

rumors to have dual SIM support and SD card expansion.

Other of its spec is trying to fight Jiayu G4 Basic.

Downside is the Batt only 2000maH.

Price-wise, the rumors seem to put in sub 1000 Yuan. nice.

According to the 2nd link, the representative from ZopoMobileShop said .. "hello, the screen is the same for zp980 and c2. the difference in color are allowed while not the same production batch. enjoy". This suggest both phones are quite similar. I check one local source for pricing and currently C2 Platinum is selling for around RM950 vs zp980's RM1099. Seems the difference in price may be due to zp980 having additional 16GB rom + 2GB ram. Both models comes with 2 batteries. Neither mentions Gorilla glass. In absence of that, better/wiser to presume that they don't have Gorilla protection. Hence, don't stick these phones into your back pocket. Personally, I would choose the RM950 unit as I don't expect myself to require more than 16GB rom/1GB ram for a phone based on MTK6589T. Both models are good lookers but I get put off by their frailty & battery size.


Among the 2, Zopo appears to be more respected brand. Fair to assume better support from Zopo. ZP980 is afterall meant for international markets. Not sure if I should mention this next bit about Umi. I don't want to offend any current owners. So I place this into a spoiler. Dont get angry with me if you click on the spoiler.

I would suggest, for the topup of RM100-150, get the 2Gb/32Gb model. It should remain snappier longer.

On another topic, has anyone here owned a china phone for more than 18 months? Let's say after 18 months, your battery KO. The speed at which these Chinese manufacturers are releasing & phasing out models, would it be difficult to find a replacement batt once the model is phased out?

You'd be better off buying a new china phone than having the hassle to find suitable battery...
