What is you are assuming is people paying tax now will get their income tax lowered in place of GST ala Singapore.
Personally, I don't think so, because the deficit is too high, and the govt has a lot more promises to fulfill. Lets see what happens.

I managed to fly back from Germany to vote. But i am really dissappointed with the dirty tactics used by BN to win the election.
Sudden blackout, sending in more boxes of additional votes by helicopter/car, FRU protecting VVIP (bangla) to vote & etc.

Well, back to topic, just my personal opinion, i think they will implement the GST for sure.
Looking back at how much they spend during the pre-election.
Full color advertisement on every mainstream newspaper, extensive advertisement on radio, tv, astro, google, you name it.

Will the implementation of GST impact the property market?
I don't know. Anyone care to share their views?
Feel free to comment.

before implement (6 months prior to implement) and after gst
i think in short term the price will go up. until a level.

until a period, where the affordable/ economy growth/ disposal income/ market confident if become worsen. the price will drop

what goes up must come down cycle la.

assumption demand & supply is ignore.

I foresee prices falling due to the approach / methods used to win the GE. The news will definitely spread, and will negatively affect international investors... thus less inflow of funds and more outflow... but we'll see this is just my opinion.

If opp won, it would have been better, more funds coming into the country to support the prices... I guess everything happens for a reason... what this is remains to be seen.

are we a growing nation or shrinking nation in terms of population?
do some research on the term growth population to understand better.

then do some research in terms of the supply.
the data available for supply, does it include:
1. soho?
2. sohai, soxo, sofo, sovo, etc?

previous supply sizes versus current supply sizes and its capacity to undertake the number of occupants.

we need to learn how to interpret reports and unfortunately many reports lacks key explanations on their databases.
*
we are growing nation in therms of population but only because we have more bangla, indon, filipina that got that card ma.

we are not growing nation in terms of population for malaysian wo. Indian/ chinese/ malay now can migrate lio lo.

Tax is high but education is free, cars are cheap, good medical coverage when older... Australian produce is cheaper and better quality... milk, cheese, etc... Cod in UK is freaking cheap... go see how much it is here? And of course lets not forget, the alcohol there is also cheaper, IT equipment is cheaper and newer, home appliances also cheaper, clothing better quality and cheaper and lastly, earning AUD or other western currency can anytime have a holiday in Bolehland and eat all the crab you want!!!! ... crab now RM70 per kilo, crab 5 years ago RM30 per kilo, earn AUD and come back to eat crab is AUD23 per kilo in Bolehland... LOL!!!!! So based on living standard, Bolehland is crap!... Overcharged for internet, cable TV, cars, clothing, everything also over priced and lousy quality even the national cars sold her are worst quality compared to those exported.... and the list goes on and on and on... How much are strawberries here? there you help them pick and you eat for FREE!!! Here you try help them cook crab and they let you eat for FREE? LOL!!!!

Btw, in Australia there is no contribution to social security whereas in bolehland there is, Australia pays out pension funds to those above 60/65 therefore when you work you pay more tax... bolehland you pay less tax but contribute to social security (with the risk that all will go missing) LMFAO!!!

QUOTE(accetera @ May 16 2013, 08:12 PM)
Property market vs Purchasing Power

In Bangkok, it is surprising they have so many "non-conventional" professionals such as fashion designers and artisans that earn big bucks. An average fashion designer can earn about USD15,000 a week. Considering their population size and purchasing power, it is no wonder that Urban Thais are demanding more and more sophisticated stuffs. And at the same time they are demanding higher and higher price properties... and go to hell with social housing.

Comparing to Malaysia, our Urban Malaysians are struggling to become salesman of any junk such as MLM or credit card and or struggling to even have an opportunity to see the blue skies in their professional jobs such as auditor or engineer. Even then, Urban Malaysians pay are absolutely low given that our productivity per capita is actually not that bad.

The only thing is we lacked creative means to earn big bucks, unlike the Thais. How many Malaysians are fashion designers? Or how many Malaysians actually buy local designer products? For every overseas products we buy, we have money outflow as imports weigh exports.

Here, we Malaysians are demanding social housing and welfare benefits.
*
Creative people already in UK. Nz .Canada etc

left only from Africa. Indon . bangla etc

why ?

See below.

New home minister tells unhappy Malaysians to emigrate

When r u leaving?

Most Malaysians in overseas do not belong to my "creative" meaning. Most in UK are ordinary working people who still are nobody in UK.

In Thailand, the people cultures are different as they are very proud of their nation despite all the bad things like abuses and corruption and even religion problems within the Buddhists. The Chinese Thais have willingly gave up all that is "Chinese" and choose to assimiliate with the Native Thai and adopt everything Thai. By doing so, the combination of Native Thai and Chinese have produced a much better species - the Modern Urban Thais that are largely not racist like we Malaysians and not discriminatory against poorer neighboring country immigrants like Malaysians.

Similarly, the Filipinos and Indonesians are very proud people. They rather die than to give up to richer countries like Taiwan (haha). *they now accuse Malaysia as bad as Taiwan because of our Chinese people. LOL  (to some extent, the so-called natives of some ASEAN countries have similar mindset)

More Malaysians are actually coming back to Malaysia now and I guess not many will be swayed by a mere statement of a Minister (he can say whatever till the cats can fly).

Agreed. The hyperinflation in Zimbabwe was caused by forceful acquisition of private properties i.e. farm land. As a results, agricultural outputs went down as the original farmers were being displaced from their farms and had not been compensated at all. Subsequently, world powers like USA imposed credit freeze or other form of economic sanctions on the country. With lesser agricultural outputs and economic sanctions, Zimbabwe had little means to generate any revenue.

To become like Zimbabwe, the Malaysian government will need to confiscate our private properties. Now let us answer these two questions:
1. Do we think this is going to happen in Malaysia?
2. Most importantly, do we want this to happen?

You have to be out of your mind to answer Yes to the second question. The imagination of Red Bean Army could never be underestimated. I am being polite when I said imagination.
