I have both the Ep1 & GF1. For one thing, the 20mm focuses faster on GF1 than on Ep1.

QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Oct 29 2013, 08:01 PM) There are 2 Panasonic lenses that are problematic with Olympus camera. Even on Ep3, the 20mm has focusing problems too! I found this to be more so in a crowded scene, where it tends to focus on the background than the subjects in the middle. It happens to me on many occasions. I checked my settings, nothing wrong.1. 20mm f1.7 - slower focusing and banding with EM5. 2. 7-14mm f4 - purple blurb. Have something to do with reflection of the sensor. [Using them on Panasonic cameras has no problem] You see these lenses are 2 of the best from Panasonic and it is a disappointment to Olympus users. There is no similar offering from Olympus because when it come to lenses, Panasonic and Olympus collaborate more than they compete. On the other hand, Panasonic users are jealous with many Olympus lenses but they don't have image stabilization. No Panasonic users will want to spend so much money on the 45-150mm f2.8 without the IS. And this is very sad. We can expect newer Panasonic cameras to have IBIS, but their technology is very poor right now as seen in GX7. How long does it need to take to improve it to usable level? We don't know. There is no perfect camera, perfect lenses and perfect system. But we can get "good enough" camera, "good enough" lenses and a "good enough" system. And I believe when we found that, we can stop (or at least slow down) our GAS. Like you, I sold off my black Ep3 less than a year, got x100 and sold it off 2 months later, get a silver Ep3 and sold it 1 month later, go back to ep2 but sold it 3 weeks later ha ha...now with the original Ep1 and the original GF1, both in mint condition for collecting purposes, since both are the ancestor of all things micro 4/3..being too sentimental I guess. I use the GF1 more than the Ep1. This post has been edited by bobds78: Oct 29 2013, 08:19 PM |

samsungfreak bro, you mentioned above the 12-35 for your wife that can take 'wow' pictures, is that an olympus or panasonic lens?
Sorry, didn't like to use zoom before so I pretty 'green' to zooms. |

Just gotten myself a GX1 just to get a taste of that 16mp sensor and some of the improvements done..
Oh my, I am impressed.. Would there be an E-p5 with built-in EVF? This post has been edited by bobds78: Nov 9 2013, 12:31 PM |

Olympus had slowly but surely making good lenses by producing useful lengths. And it can also be seen their quality is top-notch too! Hopefully gone are those low-quality lens like the kit 14-42mm even including the II R version, I have seen two i bought; the II version and the II R version thats prone to problems/issues, since they are "Made in China". No disrespect there, but just the fact that how poorly they were built. Up till now I have been staying away from all Oly lenses. Probably its time to try them now he he...

QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Jan 29 2014, 05:53 PM) Pricing of the new O-MD E-M10 is very very aggressive! Far cheaper than the EP5 but gives you significantly more (with EVF, pop up flash, etc)! When is the E-M10 hitting our stores? How's our pricing here when it comes?Body only USD$699 Body with kit lens (pancake) USD$799 I think it will be a big hit. Expect GX7 price drop soon. |

QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Jan 29 2014, 09:07 PM) Luckily for Malaysian we are buying at very low price already, it the Americans and Europeans that are paying more. Kenapa tak puji kerajaan..ka ka ka ka ka...!As usual, we should be able to get lower than the suggested retail price. Bargain bargain bargain. However, ringgit is very weak last few weeks. Ringgit sudah turun, kenapa tak puji kerajaan? |

Happy CNY to everyone!
Has anybody tried Panasonic G6 yet? I jad just acquired a G2 and I like it very much. It doesn't have the latest bells & whistle but its a small body and has all the necessary tools & features to make it a fantastic camera. I am now looking at a G6, the latest offering in the G series line. Anybody? This post has been edited by bobds78: Jan 31 2014, 09:18 AM |

QUOTE(aaronoid @ Feb 2 2014, 06:15 PM) How bout checking out the Lumix GX7? I don't think there that many G6 around in the market left :S and the GX7 new sensor really does an amazing job! Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. Initially I was seriously considering GX7 some weeks ago but I wasn't convinced I will be liking it. And after reading so many forums' discussions and reviews read, I am still undecided.. However, lately I took a chance to pick-up a rather well-kept G2 at bargain price and after shooting with it a week ot two, I really like it. It has all the features I wanted and then some more. At 12mp its not great at giving high IQ but I am satisfied with its abilities to give better-than-average pics. Heck its way better than epl2 or even e-p3 IMHO.. It has a fantastic built-in EVF and fully articulated LCD and lots of external buttons for direct adjustments. I use it with the 20mm and I am very happy so far. So I thought I want to go a little further and try out the G6. And comparing G6 to GX7, there aren't that much of a difference to spend the extra 1-2k. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. Hello hello, anybody has a G6 that they are tired of and wanna let go? I am willing to take off that load from you...he..he |

QUOTE(jloi @ Feb 27 2014, 09:41 AM) if video handheld really is a die die for u then EM5 seem better choice with 5 axis (em10 only 3 axis) IS. Plus the image will optimized when u using zuiko lenses. Of course if u plan to only get Pana lens, then Pana lens is built in IS for the GX7. Or get a Panasonic GH series camera, they are build for video, if really really die die video shooter..he.he..Seriously. If you're not serious video shooter, EM5 video output should be more or less enough for average user. |
