QUOTE(Yougene_Boy @ Oct 12 2013, 03:19 AM) anyone GX1 user here? if using old school manual focusing lens, really need to have tripod? and is EVF2 worth buying or just use the screen is more than enough for manual focusing? There should be a feature (like the pen series) to zoom in with the press of a button and turn your focusing ring to get the sharpest image. I always use this on my Olympus PEN cameras and works great. Try it. As for EVF, some people like it but I don't coz its adding extra heft and making the camera look ridiculous, unless its like those built-in evf you find in the Fujifilm x-series cameras, which I love a lot using. QUOTE(zeckk @ Oct 12 2013, 02:28 PM) Hi there, GX1 user here. You can use just the screen and get away with it, handheld, provided you have enough light / use a fast lens / bump up ISO. There is a magnified view if you tap on the screen, but after practice, i find that it can be done without the magnified view. I did a whole event in a dimly lit hall using my GX1 + minolta md rokkor 50/1.4 + available light only and the photos turned out pretty good. The EVF is plain pricey so i didn't get it. But you might want to try it out, just to see how it feels Oh yeah, those 1.4s are damn good, and inexpensive. No problem handheld and provided you have good eyesight (not everybody got this). One word of caution though, watch out for those graininess if you bump up your iso. This post has been edited by bobds78: Oct 12 2013, 04:23 PM

The one on the right looks more natural, sharper and better color according to my eyes. I like that one better. The hair on the left side of the model on the right stands out much better yes?

QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Oct 18 2013, 03:35 AM) I still prefer Goliath, easier to hold. For times when you need one-hand I think the small camera body will present a bit of issue as there's nothing to grip in front, unlike the GX7 that has a large grip, and nicely designed too.

No disrespect to the gender, but I think it suits small hands best. Looks like the battle of the sexes oops..er..sizes has just started.

QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Oct 18 2013, 08:05 PM) GM1 is smaller than LX7. GM1 uses m43 sensor and have interchangeable lenses. LX7 is a fixed lens camera with tiny 1/1.7" sensor. GM1 is not everyone cup of tea but the camera size and the 12-32mm lens size are a breakthrough itself, a technological feat, making the impossible possible. So everyone should cheer about it. + 1 here..

NICe to hear that, I am kind of infatuated with the EVF thing since I touched one on the X100 and I love it so much that I want an EVF in my next milc. The EVF on the X100 is so amazing but it's AF speed is no way near E-p3, missed my E-p3 quite bad. Now GX7 it's like a dream come true! Can't wait to get hands-on.
Bro lamjunrong, thanks for info. Hope some body could contribute some first look/preview

Sad to hear that the stabilisation isn't as good as those on other m43. Now this make me hanging on the line :-(

Yup, I read over at Camera Labs by Gordon Laing who reviewed that the GX7 IBIS is 2-3 stops behind EM5 coz GX7's is only a basic 2-axis IBIS vs EM-5's 5-axis! NO no no...! I want GX7 good looks + the tilting EVF + EM-5's IBIS!

samsungfreak had just given something akin to a master's class, in the shortest time! Bravo! Fantastic info! You have just re-affirmed my believe in m43 system!
I just wished someday (next year maybe?) Olympus PEN will have a built-in EVF like those on Sony nex 6 or Panny GX7. Yes, I am a diehard Olympus fan.

Hi Everdying & cvshi515, thx for the input. I couldn't have the chance to get a hands-on on gx1 but i am pretty familiar with ep3. I liked GF1 a lot and that's why I am still keeping one.
I want to try out a GX1 principally becoz it has good buttons on the body and the cam look so much like the GF1, but it lacks the IBIS that ep3 has, which leaves me hanging. Does it make that much difference?

QUOTE(ktek @ Oct 29 2013, 03:27 PM) stabilizer on E-P3 is very useful to me (shaky hands) Hi bro! I am facing exactly the same issue, especially when video-ing. Thats why I seldom use GF1 for video, which I use Ep3. Grip-wise no difference (I reckon) coz I used the large grip on Ep3. I suppose with a faster lens like the 20mm or the 14mm pancakes on the GX1, it should not make much difference, or does it? But how is the IQ? Can those users with hands-on experience on the GX1 chip in? Thx

Samsungfreak & cvshi515, grateful for your input.
I was thinking along the GX7 upgrade path, its the most logical, all things considered. Then, it's settled. I will sell-off some of my gears to get a GX7!
Should I wait for the price to settle a bit more? Over 2k for the body is still quite hefty for me.
