Hello Gan,
Please suggest solution for the typical Unifi setup as per diagram.
I just got a blowout from lighting, suspecting coming from my existing phone wiring
the damage as follow: TM Unifi modem (fiber optic line) --> Asus Router --> PC network card. Dect phone connected through internal house wiring from wall socket in Room 1 to another outlet located at Hall1.

Currently at Hall 1, TV+ Astro+ etc protected through SFTV9622FC.
I'm adding a pair of Home plug to the existing system.
Please advice on module to use on
1)box marked 1 to protect system DECT phone at modem side.
2 )box marked 2 to protect system at Data line at modem side.
3) Surge protection at power entry, currently I'm power the whole system through an APC UPS
unit which I considering of scraping as it was very old unit.
4) How about clean power for both home plug which I want to use for TM Hypp set-top TV located at Hall1.
Thanks.

Hall 1: TRM-PLC-2+DSL+DFA BU+PE

Good evening.
Kindly recommend 2 units for the following setup:
1. Unifi (Modem+ Router) + PC + Phone + TV + PS4
2. Telephone + Network Printer + Occasionally vacuum cleaner + Laptop

Thanks.
*

both setup are different location?

1. Unifi is fiber optic inputs? The TV connected to any aerial antenna or satelite dish?
2. LAN cable connected between printer, laptop and modem router? vacuum cleaner are not recommend to protect due to high spike.

Both different locations.
Yes, UniFi is fibre.
TV is only used for Youtube streaming via wireless.
Only PC is connected to the modem router via LAN cable. Occasionally i will plug the PS4 LAN cable to the router too.
Printer is wireless. Laptop only use to surf net and plugged to the power point.
Noted about the vacuum. Do you mean that if i want to use the vacuum cleaner, i have to unplug everything else at the power point?

(Power Point 1)
From telephone pole (Fiber optic) -> UniFi BTU unit -> Router -> PC (Ethernet Cable)
From telephone pole (Fiber optic) -> UniFi BTU unit -> Router -> PS4 (Ethernet Cable)
From telephone pole (Fiber optic) -> UniFi BTU unit -> Dect Telephone (Connected to BTU unit through a RJ45 cable and need a power plug)
Please note that all three fibre optic mentioned above is the same point.

Power Point 1 will be connected to UniFi BTU unit, router, dect phone (phone no. 1), TV, PC and PS4.
(Power Point 2)
From telephone pole (telephone line) -> Dect Telephone (need a power plug, struck by lightning once this January)

Power Point 2 will be connected up to three laptops, dect telephone (phone no. 2) and Printer.
*

u can use vacuum cleaner but without connect on Cal-Lab as the equipment itself may overload Cal-Lab depending on the load.

Power Point 1: TRM-NIF-3 BU+PE with TRM-EP-UK2+US1 (6 socket) or MDSC0039 (1 socket)

Power Point 2: TRM-NIF-3 BU+PE with TRM-EP-2 +2-FTM (5 socket with tel cable protection)

Hall 1: TRM-PLC-2+DSL+DFA BU+PE

Gan,
For two days I try to remember Cal-lab product code till my head go burst bangwall.gif
all pictures on Cal-lab webpage was so blur even trying to read and make sense out of it was rclxub.gif ranting.gif

can you enlighten me to the following

1) TRM-PLC-3 BU+PE and TRM-EP-2 +2-FTM (for DECT & LAN protection)
PLC-3-- Power Line Communication or C[B]lean 3???
BU--base unit
PE -- stack-able
EP-2 ???
2-FTM ???

2) TRM-PLC-2+DSL+DFA BU+PE

DSL -- for ADSL phone line? which I'm not using?
DFA -- ???

For Room 1 unit, do you have one that have TWO IEC outlet socket ? so I can hook-up TWO 4 outlet power-strip
What about my existing SFTS9622FC unit? Do I separate the home plug unit to only be protected by TRM-PLC-2+DSL+DFA BU+PE??

If you can show some clearer detail pictures of the all recommended components would be much appreciated
and pls. PM best price.

[/quote]
PLC for Power Line Communication
BU is base units
PE is stackable for more expansion modules
EP is expansion modules
2+2 FTM is 2 power socket + another 2 "feed thru module" (tel, lan, satelite, aerial, etc)

DSL for ADSL modem
DFA is ADSL splitter filter.

Cal-Lab dont have the models of IEC POWER OUTPUT yet, but u may consider to hook the power strip via UK plug instead.
Cal-Lab only support IEC POWER INPUT which comply the data center grade by use C14 plug only.
user posted image

The existing 9622 not supported PLC or homeplug, u have connect homeplug on the PLC series models.

so for modem side, SF9812DSL. where should i connect green wire? to my home grounding?

and for TRM-NIF-3 BU+PE or MDSC0039, where i sould connect green wire? because i see youtube.. the green wire at modem site should connect to the green wire pc side.
*

by default SF9812DSL grounded via TNB grounding point, the green wire for additional modules if any.

There have not green wire on TRM-NIF-3 BU+PE or MDSC0039

Hello,

I'm using streamyx 4mbps

Recently my modem got blown by lightning strike through phone wire?

The modem was turned off at that time..

When I turned it on.. No lights was on..

So what is the cheapest item do you recommend to protect the modem through phone wire? ty
*

Recommended SF9812DSL for modem (power and tel protection)

However the surge may come internally such as LAN cable itself depending the length or distance of the cable.

@gkl83, can share nearest place to visit?
Around USJ-Puchong.
I need to see how to combine
TRM-NIF-3 BU+PE
TRM-EP-UK2+US1

and to see
TRM-EP-2 +2-FTM (5 socket with tel cable protection)
- haven't seen the picture yet.

Btw, why don't you upload pictures of all your products in your FB?
*

The showroom available at Bandar Utama but the center doesn't come with most of the TRM series...
Most of TRM units required to delivery from HQ Muar instead...

There have not such picture for TRM-EP-2 +2-FTM as it is fully customized units based on customer exact requirement.
However the outlook look 80% same as TRM-EP-UK2+US1

There were ton of photos to load into social media as Cal-Lab have almost 60-70 models available for the market...

Gear 1 (1st wall plug) : Astro pvr/record + tv
Gear 2 (2nd wall plug) : Astro non pvr/record + wd media player + soundbar + ps4 + tv

Looking extra safety for Gear 2

TQ.

The Astro PVR connect with 2 astro satelite cables tight?
The media player connected with any LAN cable?

different the two model you suggested above? price wise is rm88 vs rm98.
it dont have for socket plug, only had point for telephone and to modem with isolator inside.

like below user posted image
*

you can use SP9201DAF.

Take your own risk for any partial protection equipment as the surge will come from any external sources. As one of LYN forumer insisted his recommendation for tel cable protection only earlier and i informed take your own risk, end up his modem dead after few months usage. However those LYN forumer followed the Cal-Lab setup recommendation will gain the most benefits for equipment protection...

From what i see..

(PVR) > 2 cables from dish
( Non PVR) > 1 cables from dish

Note : All 3 cables share just 1 dish
The media player connected with any LAN cable?
Nope, just use usb ex-hdd

meaning the Gear 1 & 2 located side by side to each others?

Side by side wall plug. Sorry miscommunication, my bad.

you can go for the combination as below:

Gear 1: TRM-NIF-3-BU with 2* MD-FC
Gear 2: TRM-NIF-3-BU with MD-FC (If PS4 and TV no connected with LAN cable and aerial antenna)

Do update me ur confirmation soonest as i will close my bulk this Friday.

What model can you recommend me? Also where can I COD with you?

Hi,

is ur TV connected to any aerial antenna or astro decoder?
Any LAN cable connect to media player?
Is ur internet connectivity from Unifi share with other computer or devices via wired LAN cable?

R u expecting all the 6 socket will draw from single cal-lab & wall socket?
or 2 unit of cal-lab for different wall socket?

if the modem router & phone located at different location, you may go for SP9201DSL / SF9812DSL (recommended) for modem protection only...

you can go for 2 unit of TRM-NIF-3-BU+PE for power protection for this case...

If homeplug required in near future, each homeplug required TRM-PLC-3 BU+PE for data transfer speed enhancement as the default Cal-Lab power modules not supported with homeplug...

...edit: I'm trying to search for a photo of this TRM-PLC-3 in this forum but couldn't find any...

Update: TRM-NIF-3-BU+PE photo found...but only 3 sockets each?
*

if required total 6 socket per wall socket, u need the combination of the following units.
TRM-NIF-3-BU+PE as base unit with 3 socket
TRM-EP-UK2+US1 as expansion unit with 3 socket
The combination of both units and stackable on each other, it will look as this.
