Hi,

I was looking for AVR+Surge Protection and I ended up here...

Need Voltage Regulator + Surge Protection + RJ45 Lightning Protection for my internet (My area often have voltage up and down, I can feel it..sometimes my light suddenly dimmed for 1 or 2 seconds.. and my computer hang when playing games)

My setups:
1 computer (usage around 600W when fully loaded)
1 monitor  (130W when fully loaded)
1 computer (low power usage <100w)
1 home theater 5.1 speakers
1 home theater 2.0 speakers (Not necessarily need any protection for this cheap stuff tongue.gif)
1 internet modem (Network cable output for internet)
*1 RJ45 Phone input ( for internet)

What product you recommend? Because the link for reference doesn't load. And from the pictures available on this thread mostly I saw only have 1 power outlet... I will be needing more than that.

hi... everything located side by side? Any other PC to PC networking which the PC/laptop located at other location/room and connected via LAN cable... Hence have any telephone / ADSL Splitter Filter nearby your setup?

Yeah they are side by side.

2.Any other PC to PC networking which the PC/laptop located at other location/room and connected via LAN cable
No, its all within my bedroom (LAN Cable connected ALL) .., I don't share my internet with other people tongue.gif

3. Hence have any telephone / ADSL Splitter Filter nearby your setup?
Currently using Streamyx
Outside pole 1 land line > House > My bedroom > Splitter with arrestor + Phone > Belkin RJ45 protected > Modem > 2 PC and etc.
Edit: Protection for my Phone not really needed, because I only use it like once a month or less...lol..couldn't care less about it.
*

You can use the combination of MDSC0039 + SP9201DAF for power and tel protection
the SP9201DAF will be replace ur existing ADSL Splitter Filter... smile.gif

warranty cover tak jika alat ini rosak kerana terkena kilat?

FOC repair warranty are no covered as lightning protector doesn't same with ordinary equipment warranty.
but maximum RM25 restoration fees required for each damaged Cal-Lab units for LIFETIME even though u used the units 10-20+ years.

even though Cal-Lab provide FOC restoration fees for the first year but the efficiency of lightning protection doesn't up to the optimal level, you still may have to carry damaged home appliance such as big TV, fridge, air con, etc to the service center to claim back your damages loss?

I have sold Cal-Lab 7 years, none of forumer complain it is a junk who followed my installation advice... smile.gif

Hi,
any aerial antenna connected to TV? - No
also, have any LAN cable connected out from ur setup? (such as connect to PC at other rooms) - no permanent machine connected to LAN cable. All wifi. . only occasionaly might use LAN cable to notebook. (Very rare) since just change to unifi.
Thanks.

you can use budget model MDSC0039FC for power + astro protection...
otherwise you can go for all in 1 which come with multisocket such as SFTV9622FC MS2+3 or AV Pack... smile.gif

Hi!
Thanks for your suggestion. I have doubt.

1) Do i need to connect the coaxial cable from MDSC0039FC to my astro decoder?
2) I have two wall switch... which i thought to have setup 1 (Unifi- BTU, RG, Dect Phone) , and setup 2 ( for astro, iptv, tv, audio), so i should be getting two MDSC0039FC?
I have also attached the layout. Let me know if this is my understanding.

Appreciate your respond. smile.gif Thanks![attachmentid=3572463]
*

1) yes, u need to connect the cable for MDSC0039FC, Cal-Lab provided the connector and u simply cut the exiting cable into 2 and twist in the connector onto...
2) the left hand side (setup 1) of diagram, u can use MDSC0039 only if your unifi is fiber optic cable and there have not physical LAN cable connected to RG (wireless router) for PC networking... the right hand side (setup 2) you can get MDSC0039FC if without aerial antenna connected to TV...

Setup 1 is my room. Setup 2 is in the living room. I am connected to it with lan cable.
*

so the ADSL modem located at your room or living room?
bcos you split out the modem out from Setup 1 & 2.
Or the ADSL modem at "Setup 3" as standalone?

Setup 1: SD-4C (recommended model) / MDSC0039
Setup 2: SF9812DSL + SLAN1236 (recommended combination) / SF9812DSL only

Recommended option are come with LAN protection as 5meter length LAN cable may have possibility to attract surge depend on your house environment...
Without recommended option, those are without LAN protection...

Anyway, the Cal-Lab LAN module i provided can support up to Gigabit but pricing will slightly higher if compare to standard version 100m/bit...

Alrighty thanks.
How much total for your recommended setup? I want to protect as best as I can.

Old story, my previous KOSS avr 600W saved me 3 times from lightning, just need to change fuse. Since kena so many times I bought a new one.
One night got power surge, AVR alive my pc kaput =_=

And since raining season coming soon, better make preperations before hand.
*

Price PMed...

but the warranty & replacement for Cal-Lab are different, it doesn't come with any fuse except of ordinary power socket's fuse which are no capable to against fast surge... if any module of Cal-Lab damaged, you are required to send the damaged unit to Cal-Lab for replacement / restoration which chargeable RM25 maximum BUT it valid for lifetime even though u used for 10years+++, which means you doesn't required to buy a new unit again in the future as standard equipments warranty (1 years)...

But SF9812DSL have replaceable tel module - SKPXDSL which is much affoardable during the restoration / replacement which chargeable RM10-15 maximum, you save at least RM10 for each replacement / restoration smile.gif

Also, this Promo AV, i see it has 2 faceplates? Are they connected with cables? Any alternative pic to better show it?

Thanks.

AV pack is "double sided"
meaning connect the power socket from left and right instead... as usual power socket design is connect from top only...

481. vandoren - 3*SF9812DSL, STV9511 (PosLaju, Sent 04/06/13, Received 05/06/13)

Hi TS,

One of my SF9812DSL seems to be faulty, which the phone line are not working (the power outlet side works fine). Wanna ask;

1. How do I check for lightning strike or voltage surge? It doesn't seem to have strong smell or burn marks.

2. How can I get service for repair/replacement? I saw that Perak area have Cal-Lab Associates, is it possible to go there for repair/service?

3. Can I get the module(SKPS-DSL CUSTOMIZED) and DIY it myself?
*

1. try to get a normal telephone plug onto SF9812DSL and heard whether is normal dial tone...
if dont have dial tone or buzz noise only, confirmed is damaged by lightning...

2. All resellers doesn't provide repair / restoration, only Cal-Lab HQ are the dedicated center for repair and restoration...
you can email to callabkl@gmail.com and callabhq@gmail.com for the process of restoration and payment method...
Please do inform them that is SKPXDSL module...

3. Yes, you can buy additional unit for spare / standby purpose for in case the failure of existing SKPXDSL...
