Munkeyflo,

Who are you talking to when you made an inquiry?
*
Samurai actually helped arrange for us first, until he told us Universal was asking for deposit of RM150 per person. Then only we contacted Universal directly. Juniorkirk contacted Universal so I don't exactly know the details.

At the same time, we were also looking for other dive centers around and found Seahorse to be quite flexible and accommodating.

It was probably because of the peak season (school holidays + public holidays).

I contacted Charlotte, she ask me to contact samurai, so its like merry-go-round case. And she didn't even bother to reply my email/question after that. Then when we contact samurai. He only replied after a few days saying that Charlotte went overseas, have to wait for her to come back only he could ask her and she could only answer. So for every question we ask, we need to go thru a middle man.

So if that is the case, why not let us, the divers deal with them directly. After all, we have agree that we only arrange our dive our self. We don't mind about paying RM 150 for deposit even its quite a lot. What if one of the diver would only want to do 1 dive?... But the problem is after we pay the deposit, they only can guarantee us 4 dives, additional dive subjects to availability of DM and boat and others. Due to peak season...

If they are professional, they should at least reply my email or clarify on this issue. Otherwise we will still think that they not interested of doing our business.

wah, no need so formal lah... Just my 2 cents, if you would want to take OW course in july, why not visit MIDE (Dive Expo) on the first weekend of july in PWTC,KL . I'm 100% sure they have better deals there. Even if you are not signing up for diving course, you can get many useful information there as well.

Why not just tell us why do you choose Perhentian as your O/W Certification trip? If you are going alone, why don't you get your confined water done here instead of doing crash course in the island. Which i would not recommend for Open water.

Mind telling us where you from and we can suggest a nearest dive center for you biggrin.gif Welcome to the scuba diving family.
Evan, they only kinda ....... on peak season only la. I know you side your "sayang" but then dont la so bias...

thanks, i hv been trying to get into diving for years, but due to work, it has been set aside.
mide is good idea, but i think better to do it now rather to delay further.
perhentian is considered as i have never been there.
what is the advantages of doing confined water/theroy and open water separately besides the reason of more relaxing ?

My previous two times was with Quiver on Perhentian Kecil... Larger boat but also difficult to climb back into as u have to climb over the ladder and move into the boat with your gear.. I always worry about falling down with my wet booties touching the floor...

They have a whole big deck for gearing up and their team is quite ok.. mostly matsallehs who sometimes seems cold though.. but I dont complain much.. As long as they give priority to safety I am ok.

LOL this is funny.
I dived with Matahari on Perhentian Kecil and their boats also have no ladder.
but it's a small boat and it's a good practice to try and climb the boat..makes ur arm stronger.
i started like dugong and got lots of bruises from climbing like that and by the 2nd day getting good at it and more graceful.

Hahahah. Yea! I heard about that. lol.
I had some problems getting up the bigger boat even with the ladder, even after passing the bcd and fins. Arms no strength after the dives. Fell back into the water few times until Andrew had to push me up onto the boat. tongue.gif

Are you going alone or you are going with friends??

If you doing your confine/course here

Advantage of Taking OW in the city
- You might not have to pay for single occupancy (if you are alone)
- You have plenty of time to read/study/exam
- You don't need to pay more for extra dive eg : confined lesson (so air buffet)
- You don't have to do your swimming test in open sea (some might be rough)
- You will feel more comfortable water before you heading to island (so safety first)
- You will learn more stuff here. (instead of compact everything within 4 days)
- You can always buy/get anything you think you need (if you dont feel comfortable with their eq)
- You will always entitle to special discount price for trips/equipment

I got my license with Quiver, the time that Jamie Cox still the manager in Perhentian. I would say, they are not the best rather than the collector of the badge from Padi. Yea,they charged 6% for cc payment.

Hi guys,

need your help.

I hv already passed PADI open water test but did not pass my theory test. (failed as could not concentrate, test was taken on island resort with lots of background music:)

Can anyone advise on how to complete it to get my open water cert.

I took the test when was working overseas.

there is a few chalet nearby.. cocohut/abdul/...... cant remember.. mind block when trying to think of them.. haha.. got 1 directly beside.. cant remember..

if u can wait another month just wait for MIDE.. a lot of options.

I know how it feels having to wait so long.. my initial plan was to start diving at least 3 years ago.. than work and studies came into play and i delayed till lately..

But since u waited so long y not wait for awhile more?
