Bro Magik biggrin.gif  Everybody can save money into EPF except below 18 years old.
The minimum contribution is only RM 50.

I put at least RM 100 into EPF almost every month instead of putting my extra money into my saving account.

We saved our money into a saving pot when we were kids  --->  [attachmentid=3576617]

For me, EPF replaces saving pot. Since we can get more interest, why not..?

In my opinion, this is another safe way to diversify our money to get a good return rate  biggrin.gif

I have tried to control myself not to write too much before getting kicked out of this forum. sweat.gif Anyway we are still talking about how to maximize our money through FD and other means (with the assets gained from car wash business and any other "legitimate" business). brows.gif

That one got something wrong upstair ! I say ride , he says car ?  shakehead.gif
Your fren something wrong, counting maid money in the wee hours of the morning, somemore touching her assets.
Its like the Uncle Scrooge`s story, everyday counting money and saying humbug.

I used to place FD at whichever bank that is having a promotion until recently I deposited in the bank that gives me better return and no need to play musical chairs. So lots of free time nowadays.  flex.gif
*
Ha ha, touching "assets" of maid ??? brows.gif "Our" friend may actually be doing Boom Cha Cha, again Saturday Night Fever, while surfing the internet looking for "victims". whistling.gif

I used to place FD on normal rates until about 2 years ago. Then started to pursue those that give higher returns. Well that is because my amount is insignificant and need them to work harder. But I was surprised that bank was giving higher and diff rates 2 years ago. Before that it was controlled by Bank Negara, I think. But I was away for few years, anyway. biggrin.gif

+111. FD musical chair game is very tiring, couple with the FD+CASA requirements and step-up %...  doh.gif
I will be eyeing for 12mth as min tenure from now on, unless there are very special super-duper promos (which I doubt it at the current local economic climate).  icon_rolleyes.gif
Save the time for exploring other investment opportunities...  tongue.gif

Up till now, I have only looked at FD of 1 year duration. But recently changed after seeing BoomChaCha's 4.9% rate for 61 months. Even some bond funds are talking about 4.5% return (which I was caught 2 years later with ZERO return, Citibank's RM told me recently due to bond market down vmad.gif ). So BR's 4.9% is rather attractive. I think it is good to look at combinations of short and long term FD depending on the individual's age, investment philosophy etc. smile.gif

Up till now, I am happy with BR's return of 4.2% versus Citibank's board rate of 3.05% for 12 months. thumbup.gif

If you are close to retirement age, a good option would be EPF.

Yes, EPF is in my list. I used combination of normal FD rate, high promotion rates (mainly), EPF, stock, UT etc.

I don't see the option for eFD in the BR internet banking.
You don't have the BR internet banking facility?
It is useful for me to do IBG on the interest crediting day.  thumbup.gif
*
Same for me. Using IBG to xfer out money is very convenient for me to get FD interest out from BR and other banks. Especially that it is costing 10 cents nowadays for normal IBG. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the links.
Kuwait's site doesn't in fact mention PIDF insured. Is it?

Also, OCBC's rates linked here only indicates 3.1%, where can I find the 3.7% for 13 months?

I quite admire you, you can place FD anytime you want..  thumbup.gif

You have to wait for your check to clear first then you can get the FD cert from KFH, right?
Did you get any gifts?
Any fees for Bank Rakyat ATM card? Like annual fee charge?

RHB charge RM 8 for their ATM card annually, no charge to use RHB ATM machine.
If use RHB ATM card on other banks' ATM machines like to withdraw money, will charge RM 1 for each usage/transaction..
*
No lah, small amount of FD here and there. Running from 1 place to the next ..........May die from exhaustion bye.gif

No, for KFH, no need to wait for personal cheque to clear. Same as normal banks (BR need cheque to clear first other than banker's cheque). Can get FD cert on the same day. Got 1 umbrella from KFH.

I think the ATM card for BR no annual fee, but not 100% sure. Need to double check.

Need advise from the Sifus here.
I am a retiree 60+ and have been banking with Citibank for the last 30 years.
Been a Citigold member for last 20 years and have been enjoying Citibank Citigold service free as well as Visa Platinum Card annual fee waiver.
Just received a letter from Citibank that they will start charging a monthly CitiGold Service Fee of RM80 if Total Balance falls below RM200,000.
As I have been pulling out money from FD to put into other banks which pay much higher interest, my balance is now below RM200,000.
Paying Rm80 monthly for Citigold service is too steep.
I am strongly thinking of closing my Citibank account. However I stiil need a Visa Credit card for the convenience of online and occassion shopping. Which bank and what type of Visa credit card should I go for?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Have a nice day.
*
I am also with Citigold, received their notification as well.

Another free card that I have is from Public Mutual. So if you are Public Mutual Gold customer, can get a free platinum card as well.
