What do you plan to do with your Citigold service?
Other than FD, what are other low risk investment alternatives with Citibank?
Thank You for sharing your experience.

Their notice is sending out to everyone.

Still manage to stay with them .....................My UT experience with Citibank is rather bad. Even bond fund recommended by them is NG. So I stay away from their UT and my RM knows not to kacau me with their UT. brows.gif

What I like is their service esp phone banking. Even UOB RM said Citibank phone banking is better than theirs (in Penang ??). Parking for the Pg branch at times is horrible !

Bank Negara is expected to maintain the overnight policy rate (OPR) for the rest of this year but a possible 25 to 50 basis points hike is anticipated for next year

Yes, I saw that also. So HJebat, aku hesitate to place for 5 years FD with BR next month already loh ................ brows.gif So likely to still go for 12 months and see the situation next year. icon_rolleyes.gif

By the way, anyone know about our captain ? In Australia ? hmm.gif

Unlikely to offer me above 4% even if the deposit is 500k. sad.gif Will try OCBC tomorrow.

Well, reading your earlier post, for PIDM, the protection per account is up to 250k only. For your earlier question, KFH is under PIDM.

If I were you, I would put FD in shorter term like 3 to 6 months and see how is the "weather" next year.

If you put in 5 years now, I do not think you can sleep well every night until bank negara announces
the new FD rate next year.

Since you heard the thunder, then bring an umbrella first loh...
It could be a sunny day? Thunder storm? Or thunder only but no rain at all? Just like car price..  biggrin.gif
I think so... but hopefully Captain is not abandoning us and our ship..  biggrin.gif

Ha ha, BoomChaCha MIA for 3 days, came back and give us lively chat in this forum. rclxms.gif

I think will still go for my regular 12 months FD and ask for 4.2% or higher. I have no intention to beat any records as such. icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh ya, the umbrella from BR and KFH can be used to protect in case of heavy rain ................. rclxm9.gif

Kuwait Finance House in Pavillion does not give free parking for people who place FD there. This is different from KFH in Penang which offers free parking.
*
KFH Pg no longer give free parking. They claimed the parking management do not allow it. Not KFH disallowing it. So have been there few times to place FD and have to pay for the parking, anyway still OK at 50ct per half hour. biggrin.gif

Also, BoomChaCha, what did you get from KFH after placing your FD there ??

Thanks. Yes, this is their second branch in Pg. I was told about a month ago. Anyway I am in the island itself and near to their current branch (which is kind of small). While there to place FD 2 weeks ago, my car battery die out on me and one of their staff went to a battery/tyre shop to help me while I waited inside their branch. Was rather thankful of that.

What gift did you get from KFH? Did you get better than their promo rate?
Wah...KFH treated you like a King..
Next time they will give you a Thai style body massage as KFH is expecting you to place more FDs with them..

You were so lucky, what if you suddenly have a dead battery in front of dolls' house?
Please becareful of twisting ears...  biggrin.gif

Ha ha, I am stalking you ........................... cool2.gif brows.gif

I got an umbrella from them. Have asked for higher rate and quoted BR. But they claimed their rate is the highest and BR is not PIDM protected. So not able to get higher than 3.98% for 12 months. sad.gif

Well if the situation happens in front of dolls' house, have to sneak inside, drool.gif also more reason not to be back home for longer period of time. brows.gif Car battery dead and phone battery dead ........no help ................. wink.gif

Hu.... Very dangerous.. ..
Unfortunately you are a man; and I am not a gay.. biggrin.gif ..just joking.... ha ha..
Congratulations.. a very good deal..
Car battery normally can last in between 2 to 3 years, it depends on how often you use the car battery.
If you use power windows very often, use high power consumed car Hi-Fi, go out at night very often and etc..then your car
battery will not last long.

You can get a maintenance free battery so that you can see the light indicator on the battery to determine the
timing to change your battery. Or write down the date you replaced your battery on a small piece of paper and paste
it on your car battery.

What if your car battery is suddenly dead on the middle of the road during at night while some road warriors (mat rempit)
with weapons approach rich man like you..??  sweat.gif

If you hike in doll's house for a longer time, then you need to spend extra monies and efforts to dolls calculated on hourly basis...  How to tahan oh..? biggrin.gif
*
Well, it depends if you are a he or a she biggrin.gif , also am I a he or a she (I may not be what I declare to be ha ha) tongue.gif

The KFH 3.98% FD rate is a std rate for Junior account, nothing great.

I was disappointed as that car battery did not show any sign before. It is even an imported one. doh.gif People will not rob me with my old car.

If go to dolls house, may not come out by myself, have to be put on stretchers, icon_question.gif ha ha ha

Ha ha, BoomChaCha even can give advice on batteries other than FD rate. Knowledge wise, good. I am a technical guy and was ashamed of the battery dead on me so fast. Normally they will give signs like difficult to start in the morning as the first sign. But this one just dead on the express way (car ABS and other warning signs showed up) . But once battery starts to run, the alternator will be running and engine will continue to run. But I read the sign wrongly and was thinking something else was wrong and switched off the battery while arriving in KFH. doh.gif

Anyway thankful to KFH staff, this bad experience did not last too long. sweat.gif

Will be going there again on Monday to place more FD for the Junior account of 3.98%. Their normal FD account is paying 3.8% and promotion ends Sept, minimum 20k. thumbup.gif

Hi, bbgoat. Do you have any concern banking with KFH compared with other banks? As you know, it's not exactly like usual banks out there, still quite a peculiar one (to me, at least).
I have been hesitating on KFH though in the past they have been offering quite good rates for FD. Recently less straight FD promotion from the major banks. Then KFH is under PIDM that is the main factor that I used them. So long as under 250k, we are "safe" as the same in the other major banks. Their Junior FD account attracts me on the 3.98% offered. rclxms.gif

I just called to UOB before I write this post.

As posted by a member previously, UOB has only one FD promo for 3 months at this moment:
3.48% rate for 3 months, fresh fund needed, effective until 31 August
Minimum: RM 10K
Maximum: RM 5 Million
*
Have been to UOB to place new FD the last few months. However they do not have 12 months FD promotion recently. So instead moving their matured FD out to KFH. biggrin.gif

Was in UOB today and their 3 months FD promotions as mentioned above ends by August. Withdraw matured FD and deposit to KFH. Hopefully UOB will have new promotion by early Sept. If not have to move their FD out again next month. biggrin.gif

Recently liked Citibank as received cash back of RM 70 over 3 months total RM 210. This is for their Overseas Spend Campaign. Then today received electronic portable scale by courier as well (related to above campaign). Good loh ! rclxms.gif

However their FD is bad, at 3.05% for 12 months. Moving funds out to other banks to maximize my return. Service wise still good but somehow not as good as years ago .........................

I met one Manager (Not RM) in the main lobby then I asked him about FD, but he quickly diverted my FD topic to Unit
Trust and Structured Fund topics in less than 10 seconds..

He gave me a 15 minutes Unit Trust presentation with his laptop in his small office room, he suggested me to put
50% in FD and 50% in Unit Trust or Structured Fund to diversify... sweat.gif

He added, non-profitable Unit Trust should be patiently held for at least 3 to 5 years, I replied: how many 5 years
do we have in our life time?  biggrin.gif

Did UOB pay you the last day interest of your matured FD?
Did you place the 5.5% FD for 3 months from Citibank about 2 years ago (may be less than 2 years)?
The maximum FD placement was RM 200K.
*
Ha ha, bee (OCBC mgr) found honey (money) and stick to it......... whistling.gif Will not let go easily ................. rclxm9.gif

You are right, how many 5 years do we have ?? tongue.gif

Not sure of the last day interest. It is per the monthly statement they sent for the matured FD. Anyway I was late for 4 days after the maturity (lazy to go to town just for the FD).

Citibank case, not sure as I was likely not around at that time. biggrin.gif But are you referring to one case of UT placement with FD promotion ? I did buy a bond fund and get a high FD interest for short term placement, maybe the 5.5% for 3 months. That was in Feb 2012.

He recommended OSK-UOB Kidsave Trust to me..but I did not take it, of course.

I can feel the inflation is getting worse lately..

1 Satay now is RM 0.70 (was RM 0.60)
Post brand cereal is RM 18.99 (was 13.99)
Tesco brand wheat biscuit (42 pieces in a box) is RM 19.99 (was RM 15.99)
Yogurt is RM 1.79 or RM 1.89 (was RM 1.50)

I predict milk price will increase again soon...  cry.gif
*
As you know the person is trying to convince people to buy UT to fill his quota or to gain commission himself. Even UOB counter staff tried so hard to convince me to buy UT and not to withdraw the matured FD. The lady tried and tried .............. doh.gif

You are worried about milk price increase ? So buying for yourself or for others ?? brows.gif

The milk I am talking about is the cow milk I buy from supermarket..biggrin.gif ..

Don't you feel that foods are getting more expensive lately..?

I am curious about the interest rate will go up, go down, or maintain next year.. sweat.gif
*
I was rather annoyed by that lady. Relentless for a counter staff!! No, did not buy from her and told her when I pick up the cheque "appreciate for your trying............" tongue.gif

I know you are talking about cow's milk brows.gif I buy it regularly for my junior.

Yes, things are getting more and more expensive for sure. Kind of crazy.

It is likely that interest rate will go up next year. But cannot be sure. How much, do not know. Someone posted a link on what was reported in the newspaper recently on 25 to 50 basis points for the OPR. smile.gif

Add: in fact you quoted the source in the previous page.

The ATM card or rather debit card given is free for the 1st year. But rather expensive for the second year (forgot the exact amt, something like RM20) unless you use the debit card with certain amt of money. I intend to cancel the debit card before end of 1st year.

Ha ha, BoomChaCha is the rich person with lots of FD ................ thumbup.gif

My thought is we need to find banks which gives the high interest for the 48 or 60 mths FD. That is to spread out the risk unless we have multiple millions (like super rich person who is not interested in high FD interest or not concerned on the bank collapse issue).

Currently my FD's are 12 months duration. Was looking for 60/61 months FD but was concerned if the OPR will go up next year. smile.gif

This is what I think:

Rich people are not too concerned about the interest rate, but they are very concerned about the bank collapse issue.
Poor people are very concerned about the interest rate, but they are not too concerned about the bank collapse issue.
Then in this case, I support you to place 1 year FD first (mentally support only...  biggrin.gif ); otherwise you will not sleep well
until next year. Furthermore, it is never too late for you to make a right decision next year.
