i just got hired. on the spot.
tomorrow i will go provide them my passport, ic, white card and my degree cert. funny they want a copy of my spm just to keep a copy? also, i took the job because i don't want to do sales, but the job is so easy, i think all i do is sit in the office blow aircond only. hence, only $1.6k. please guide me what to do next. also very paranoid about the medical report now. scared kena reject. maybe i just think too much. and i assume i will get work permit only, they won't be so nice gimme s pass right? so.. how am i gonna get that PR i find that not having a PR status is rather hard for me to get a decent job. for now i am just gonna rendam myself on this super easy job for maybe 6 months still i start go interviewing again? please advice! |

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Apr 3 2013, 11:40 PM) S Pass minimum 2k. You need a decent job to get a PR, not the other way round. Do the job that add value to yourself if possible bah. Don't waste youth by choosing a simple one. my days are limited for the white card.even sales won't even gimme 2k basic. do sales can achieve target then get 2k+ does it count as eligible for PR? |

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Apr 3 2013, 11:43 PM) i beg to differ, if you got a job in SG, just set ur foot here 1st. because even you are a foreigner, Companies in Singapore prefer to hire foreigners that are working in SG compare to those that are not. thank you So you can work with $1.6k salary then slowly settle down in SG 1st. After you settle everything, then you can start searching for the job you desire. i treat it as stepping stone. this admin assistant job is too easy for me. when she interview me, she ask "you ok with the job as admin assistant?" clearly she knows i can do better. i just need a chance. and she say after probation and see how i do my job then will "readjust" my salary. and they dun have anybody doing their admin job now, one of the hr person took over. maybe i could settle a 2k job by sitting there longer a bit. and with this stupid job i still can take my time search for a suitable job, not like now rushing to secure a good job but all want me do sales only but basic also almost never 2k. i hope i am doing the right thing. |

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Apr 3 2013, 11:52 PM) I don't know about PR. For S Pass they looking at basic, I tried to apply EP for my site people, he can reach EP with OT but MOM say cannot, because OT is not fix. Same for commission etc. Anyway, don't stay too long at a comfortable job when you are young. Like a frog staying in a boiling water theory. Youth is a big asset that old guy don't have anymore i do hope to be able to jump to other department if got vacancy. need more luck.seriously. anyhow, when a person got a work permit from a company, when i get a new job next, what will happen to my work permit? do i need to reapply from the new company? |

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Apr 3 2013, 11:59 PM) yes, you have to re-apply a new one. . And the company will hold ur last salary and settle all income tax with IRAS before they let u go. another question, regarding money.i don't think there's any bank that can deposit money in sg and withdraw in malaysia right? (because i just asked ocbc, they say they are different companies from malaysia) how do u guys send money back to malaysia, e.g. give money to parents. and most of the time u guys keep the money in sg and not malaysia right? hoping sgd value go up even more? |

QUOTE(samual8833 @ Apr 5 2013, 12:17 AM) Hi Xtylish, bachelor in communication (hons) advertising.May I know what degree u hold? Not only the interviewer asked you that question. I'll also ask u for the same question. From my understanding, usually, they won't offer high basic salary for sales jobs. Coz you're entitle for commission if u are able to hit the target. If you're doing sales, they offer you 1.6-2k basic salary is consider alots. Remeber, u still hv commission. Some of the companies only cover ur transport allowance and no basic salary at all. What you want to do must hit target and get the commission. i know sales offered me 1.6k for basic + commission. but i really do not wish to do sales. if i wanna do sales i can stay in malaysia to do that. |

QUOTE(samual8833 @ Apr 5 2013, 12:45 AM) I'm not sure about Audit associate position. But, I'm sure there are so many accounting jobs in SG. With degree in accounting should be easy to get accounting job at there. The pay should be ok... Last time, they likes to hire foreigners to fill up Engineering and Accounting jobs. The people around me quite many of them work for accounting jobs! One of my friend just hold LCCI also manage to get 2K job as account assistant/ clerck. Another one with LCCI cert & 10 years account expereinces in SG can get 2.6k. For degree holder with few years accounting experiences in sg can earn up to 3K SGD! my friend with a/c degree from australia + 5 years experience in sg now SGD4k.lucky her. |
