Hi dear Lego enthusiasts!:-)

I stumbled across this forum during my search for Legos and signed up after reading the threads here. I must say Lego is really building up a very strong following here in Malaysia!:-)

I'm just gonna quickly introduce myself, I'm Jason and only recently reignite my passion for Lego when I started buying it for my daughter 2 years ago... Yup! I'm an AFOL!!:-)

Back in the old days I had quite a bit of Legos and it was always the toy that I go back to once I'm tired of the rest like Transformers, Thundercats, RC cars etc. The fun is endless and only limited by our creativity...

What draws me back to Lego in a very big way are the amazing details of the Modular Buildings and the building techniques employed by the designers. Simply amazing and so much fun to build! Once it's all done my daughter has a lot of fun playing with them too, much more fun than a doll house or Barbie!

So that's a little about me. Pleased to meet you all!:-)

Hi guys!

I'm actually in the midst of completing a very big order with my regular European supplier... This is my biggest order to date as I'm ordering a number of soon to be discontinued sets... (some speculative play here) biggrin.gif

I can see that some of you are looking for some popular sets. Perhaps I can help? I'm not familiar with Super Heroes themed sets but if they are not very big box I could possibly squeeze into my order for you. No promises as I'm still trying to work out with my supplier on how to optimise the shipping charges... So if you need any sets feel free to pm me and I'll see if it's in stock and try to find some lubang in the big box to fit it in! wink.gif

I'm no professional seller and I have no intention to compete or undercut established sellers here in the forum. Like many here, I order multiple sets to average down on shipping cost so I do have extra sets to let go from time to time... If the sets are not expensive and are a popular item I don't mind ordering for you without a deposit. I really do not have an idea how much it will cost now until I collect it from Pos Laju as I need to factor in the following costs: bank transfer charges, shipping, import tax and Pos Laju custom clearance charges. So what I'll do is order first and work out the actual cost once I cleared the shipment from customs, I honestly do not want to end up in a situation where I quote a certain price and it ended up being higher due to all the above mentioned charges... I have a steady job that pays for this hobby, this is not going to make me rich so I don't want to end up getting stressed over it! lol!

So if any of you wanna try your luck with me please feel free to pm me the set number and title. I hope my mailbox don't explode! icon_question.gif I foresee I can finalise the order by next week so please pm me by then...

In the meantime, I do have a few sets that I am willing to let go to make room for my new collection! smile.gif

1. 10225 R2-D2 RM800 [1 set available]
2. 10226 Sopwith Camel RM400 [2 sets available]
3. 9500 Fury Class Interceptor RM490 [2 sets available]

Thank you and good night!

Regards,
Jason

something to share when your package get inspected by kastam
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Hmmmm.... I doubt that is our customs doing, tearing the envelope. If the package is opened by Kastam Malaysia for visual inspection they will stamp "Inspected by Kastam" or something similar. Usually Kastam don't bother to open up, they just run it through the x-ray scanner. That tape is by Pos Malaysia to secure the package probably tear due to rough handling by the postal workers. I have that problem too once in a while... So far so good, only last week I lost one small part due to this. My first incident.

Just sharing my experience. Sifu feel free to correct if I'm wrong! smile.gif

What's the set number of the iron man set everyone is talking about? Sorry I'm no superheroes fan! Haha! I'll try to bring some in if it's not too big and there's room in my order....

Have a good day everyone!

Regards,
Jason

Thanks for pointing that out bro Alby. :0

I stumbled upon this forum few days ago when searching for Lego minifig display ideas and I liked the community here. I'm not a regular in any forums so am slowly learning about the rules of conduct. My apologies if I have done anything wrong. doh.gif

10937 I think will be around RM800 based on my conservative guesstimate. smile.gif

Is the iron man set that everybody wants 76006? I don't see it in the wholesaler list so it could be so hot that it is out of stock. If this is the set that everybody wants I can do everyone a favour and try to sapu a big lot from the wholesaler when he re-stock it. Just let me know, I also want to follow your footstep and do some community service for fellow Lego collectors in Malaysia. Prices of Lego sets here are ridiculous!

Cheers!

Hi jason, welcome to the club! whats ur main theme or 'sapu' all?
btw, u should make a sales thread so that easier for us to be poison..heheh

*
Hi Maxi bro,

Thank you! I wish I could sapu all the themes but this is a very capital intensive hobby! lol!

What got me back to Lego in a very big (and crazy) way was the Modular Buidings and RC trains, they are perfect for City building! biggrin.gif

This year I will most probably start to put my Modular Buildings together and set up my little Lego city. Right now my Modulars are all over the house. My biggest challenge will be to create an interesting terrain and not just a flat street scape with base plates. I want subways, elevated train tracks and a mountain pass for my trains! Probably too ambitious but no harm dreaming right? whistling.gif

Besides Modular Buildings and trains, I also collect the minifigures series. Right now I have complete boxes Series 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Series 2 on its way. rclxms.gif

I'm also a little into Star Wars but there are just too many sets to collect so I just go for the classics like X-Wing, Millenium Falcon and Tie Fighters. I like some of the UCS sets and definitely this year I will be getting the UCS X-Wing! biggrin.gif

Technic also catches my fancy and I have two very nice technic sets: 8110 Mercedes Unimog and 8043 Motorised Excavator. My Lego Technic acquisition target this year will be the massive 42009 Crane! thumbup.gif

Well, I guess this is the second part of my intro!

My apologies to everyone for starting off my participation in this wonderful community with my offer to order sets, I am in the midst of finalising my order so thought I could help. I don't want to give the wrong impression that I'm trying to do business here. Everyone knows the USA and EU pricing so there's no way to profit from this. To me the real money is in collecting rare and very sought after sets.

Once I learn to navigate my way in the forums I will help to do mass orders for the benefit of everyone. smile.gif

Cheers!

Jason

Modulars are so much fun to build and after that it offers hours of playtime, my daughter treat it like her doll house. hee hee.

Jason,

Just wanted to know, what will the pricing be like for modular grand emporium if I were to tumpang?
If you're not comfortable of revealing it publicly, you can PM me.

Thanks.

Hi bro,

I have no problem revealing the price, everyone knows how much it is retailing in the USA and EU anyway. But from the looks of it this thread is not for soliciting business so I'm still learning to navigate myself around the forums... For your benefit I would hazard a guess 10211 Grand Emporium should be around RM700 or a little over that... Please don't hold me to that! It all depends on the charges that I have yet to be invoiced!

Hope that helps. smile.gif

Another Technic fan  icon_rolleyes.gif

8043 is EOL (end of life) set, and it is getting more expensive. I'm tempted to get it, since it has a lot of motors, track-wheels, bucket.
8110 still available, but starting to get limited stocks. For a Benz + Unimog, I think is a good set.
9398 is the current one.

I'm also waiting for the 42009 MKII crane around Aug 2013. Expected price USD220 +/- with ~2606 pieces. Malaysia price will be more expensive  shakehead.gif

Modular buildings are nice, but too expensive if get the whole range, including the EOL Cafe Corner.
I like trains also, Maersk 10219 + tracks + motorized + space of at least 2x5 meter.

Lego is costly, and therefore currently I'm sticking to Technic. I like the mechanical, gears, motor, pneumatics, etc.
*
Hi! Great to meet another fellow Technic fan! thumbup.gif

I was lucky I managed to sapu the remaining sets of 8043 from my supplier before they disappeared. Now waiting and hoping for them to appreciate in price! tongue.gif

The new 42006 Excavator looked interesting but pale in comparison to older brother 8043. Somehow I just love the yellow technic construction vehicles! icon_rolleyes.gif

The Maersk train is such a beauty, I have yet to motorised it thought... Waiting to complete my city layout first. I may need a train yard! lol!

Wah! Is 9398 Crawler so popular meh? Perhaps because it is not yellow that's why I don't like! lol! doh.gif

It looked small in the picture but based on piece count and price it should be quite a massive set! Again, perhaps it's the colour that's putting me off this set! tongue.gif

There is no escaping once your invoice value is greater than RM400... Sure kena! Our government need the money. Then Pos Malaysia also make some money for clearing from customs. vmad.gif

Sometimes you get lucky and escaped paying tax but that doesn't happen so often...

You will have to inform the seller that you want it shipped with insurance, he/she will then include that in the invoice. You can't insure the shipment from your end.

oh ..... but when is here that is a other problem due to mly post man  shocking.gif

Hmmm... I think the insurance covers until it reaches you? Because with insurance means it is registered, so long as you don't sign for it means it has not reached you and you can report the parcel is missing. I know our local postal service isn't the best around and I can see the condition of the parcels between Pos Laju delivery and DHL delivery, if it's Pos Laju the box all koyak and lubang everywhere (they do use the Pos Laju tape to tape it back but pray nothing came out before that!) while DHL the box is clean and perfect. Once I had a big parcel from Europe (bigger set than modular) and the shipping box was damaged so badly that only the tapes are holding everything together, the contents are clearly visible and I can put my head through the hole in the box! ohmy.gif So my advised is to inform the seller of rough handling by our postal service and request they pack with extra protection.

Nobody ever open a dispute at paypal if u didnt receive your package?  hmm.gif

Some US sellers dont hv arrangement with third party insurers, so they insist on using registered, which is very expensive. End up postage may be more ex than the bricks...
*
Last year I have to open a dispute with PayPal because the seller went AWOL after I made payment. I kept writing to the seller to no avail and finally opened a dispute with PayPal weeks later, all PayPal do is ask me to wait a little longer, write to the seller etc... While what PayPal did is procedurally correct before finally arriving at maybe refunding me the money, I was a little disappointed and frustrated with the process. I would expect with the fees PayPal is charging they would be quicker in processing a dispute. Anyway, I was lucky I didn't have to experience the whole dispute process because my seller went on long vacation without putting up a notice and I got my Lego parts with some discounts! thumbup.gif So what I wanted to say is PayPal dispute isn't as fast as you may think.

QUOTE(Blissguy @ Mar 17 2013, 11:03 AM)
ahh now that is why some post cost more then lego it self....  hmm.gif

thx u thx u
*
Yup! Some seller insists on insurance because they don't want the hassle of dealing with damaged/missing parcels later on. It could be from bad past experiences... Some sellers go as far as not wanting to ship overseas or to certain countries. Frankly the risk with any online deal is the integrity and honesty of both parties. A dodgy buyer could claim the parcel is missing or contents damaged when it is not and vice versa... Yeah it is already quite costly for shipping to Malaysia and it is lagi more costly if we add insurance. So far I always opt not to have insurance if the option is given to me, touch wood no missing parcels so far! I sometimes find some parts damaged or the Lego boxes crushed but to me it is still worth the savings. Just last week for the first time I lost one small part because there was a hole in the shipping envelope, Pos Laju taped it up but I lost one piece of 4x6 plate. That cost me 30cents, still cheaper than buying insurance and I didn't bother to claim from seller except to inform him that he should pack it better next time. Maintaining a happy buyer/seller relationship. biggrin.gif

One tip I can share is to have the parcels delivered to your office. The stuff I ordered usually won't fit into my house letter box so it is risky what the postman will do when he finds me not home, either he dumps it there or he give a slip for me to collect from Pos Laju. I find in the past that sometimes that slip may go unnoticed, it may be sandwiched between other letters or destroyed by rain. I'm lucky that my spot in the office is facing the main door so I can see the mailman when he make his delivery rounds. And because I order so often the mailman knows me already and he hand the parcels directly to me instead of giving it all to the HR department for sorting! rclxms.gif I guess knowing the mailman also means less chance of things going missing, my colleagues are puzzled why I get so many parcels! tongue.gif

IMHO Fire Brigade is the most fun among all the Modular Buildings! It's my daughter's favourite modular! To me that is a must buy and more so now that it is going to be discontinued soon... USPS First Class will take 2-3 weeks to reach Malaysia. Tracking is only possible within USA, once it leaves US facility you will not be able to track not even when it reaches Malaysia and in transit to you. You will only know when it is delivered to you. That looks like a very good price, is it new in box? You should get the 9500 Fury Class Interceptor, it is big and very nice to swoosh around! drool.gif Poison u! haha!

Would love to share and discuss on design elements especially on the roof of the house.

A pure wood one is interesting, so is a more modern and colorful one

Yeah, have to keep up with Lego release and buy the modulars now before they increase in price. I also don't have proper space to assemble everything together so my modulars are all collecting dust in the shelves. yawn.gif

Yup! Red/Green on left of store name is whether seller ship to you or not. The colours on right of store name is store rating based on number of feedbacks. It is worth noting that there is nothing wrong to ask the seller if they are willing to ship to you even if it is Red because I have ordered many times from sellers marked Red. And every seller that I have asked in the past agreed to ship to me! icon_rolleyes.gif

BrickLink is your best friend especially for putting together those rare discontinued sets or doing your MOC project. biggrin.gif

Granted the user interface is not so fancy and takes some getting used to, it is actually an amazing database! You will need lots of patience to learn how to use it... Maybe I'm just old but I'm perfectly happy with BrickLink as it is, it serves its purpose well. Of course I wouldn't mind an upgrade of the user interface but there's a saying why fix it when it is not broken? Some peeps (especially those in the UK) are cursing at the user interface which I think is because they are spoiled and lazy, they want the site to do everything for them. I'm quite happy to be able to see every step of the process, it's not a lot anyway... Search, order, wait for invoice, pay and wait for parcel to arrive... haha!

If you're lost in BrickLink please post your questions here icon_question.gif , we'll try to help and maybe others may benefit from the knowledge too. smile.gif

Yea me too... even thought many complained its dated/not so intuitive.. but it gets the job done as soon as one get used to the flow. it all boils down to a few steps:

1) look for featured  shops  /shops with huge number in the bracket  and visit it
2) ensure shop "ships to me" text shown on the upper right corner of the screen
3) browse away!  (For beginner... I suggest browse by categories to understand how parts are organised)
4) key in wanted qty and submit. repeat until pokai / monthly overbudget
5) click checkout and confirm purchase. Wait buyer finalize it then make payment
*
Well said and thanks for organising the flow in a structured way. icon_rolleyes.gif

If I may add, I always check the "Splash" and "Terms" page first to fully understand the terms and conditions of that store before I go any further. It is also there where you will find important information like whether the seller impose a fee for packing materials, PayPal fees, shipping charges, minimum order value, lot averages etc. I always prefer to shop at stores that publish shipping prices as it means they are seasoned sellers.

I guess we Malaysians are used to Low Yat Plaza type of setup where under one roof there are multiple individual stores who have different pricing and terms. BrickLink is very much like that, it is a trading platform for Lego sellers and buyers, something like a Pasar Malam for Lego. In USA and Europe they are probably not used to this. lol! rclxub.gif

I have it too but too lazy to take photos and post here. It's nice and easily impresses every single guests that came to my house. The other Lego set that have the same effect is the 10220 VW T1 Camper. Both sets has that WOW factor! biggrin.gif

Personally between the two I like the T1 Camper more, guess I'm not a crazy Star Wars fan!

I'm actually thinking of selling it to free up shelf space and cash. I still have another unopened box of this set so probably I'll keep that set instead. So anyone interested to buy a "USED" UCS R2-D2? Only built once and left on shelf to collect dust, never played with it. I hate calling it "used" because it is essentially new other than my finger prints on every single brick! lol! Comes with box (opened box ends to fold it flat) and instructions. Any takers? wink.gif

Haha! Yeah don't be fooled by the boxes! If you are searching for sets may I suggest you search under "Catalog Items" in the search drop down list rather than "Items for Sale". From there you can view useful information like box weight and dimension etc. RM336 is a very good price for the VW T1 Camper!

Put until like that, hanging off the table ledge. Any child can just accidentally bump it over and it will be dented.  laugh.gif

That's why I don't like to buy locally even if it means the price for the imported sets are about the same. I like my boxes to be mint and free from greasy hand prints, tears and dents. The sets in our local stores are usually abused it looked like a used box.

RM3k for Death Star? I thought my friend saw Death Star for sale at Lego Land for RM1,999? Btw, can someone please confirm pricing for Death Star?
