With a 15k budget, why not a commencal meta like his one?

user posted image

Climbs well, bombs downhill and has enough travel. The shock is cleanly tucked inside he frame and is specced well too. With the budget you have, can get a good helmet and a decent pair of gloves or pedals.

2000++ riders took to the trails. The rain pelted down hard on us just as the horn went off. So by the time we got to the trail head 9km into the ride, the trail composed mostly of silt and clay was MUDDY. The thick wet mud added to the fun, keeping us sliding here & there...

The event organizers did a good job. Trails were well marked, stations well manned.

using 3 hours to complete 50km, Overall a good ride.

Here is my take on the bike... I've test tried the Collosus SXX 2011 - the one with full XTR groupie and SLR wheelset. Should have some similarities with the SX 3.0... Frame has good pedaling efficiency - you don't need propedal. Frame suspension bearings of Polygon full sus frame are low quality - can get them upgraded to SKS bearings which should not be a problem (should cost ++RM150 bearings alone). Frame paint work for 2011 models are not that impressive... If not mistaken bike weight is lighter than the newer floating suspension/shock models. Fork is ok, reliable. Groupset - XT trouble free and if you don't mind using 3x10 setup. Fork steerer tube is tapered but frame headset uses a semi-integrated headset (zero stack) with top inner diameter (ID) at 44mm and bottom at 49mm. Problem here is having a bottom zero stack 49mm headset cup requires tiny individual bearings in order to fit in a tapered tube. FSA orbit seals are poor... To upgrade the bottom to a sealed cartridge bearing, you need to convert to an external cup which can house a bigger and better cartridge bearing. Doing so will make your frame angle slightly slacker... head tube angle is 69 degrees. Think slackening a little should still be ok for XC riding and climbing hills. Mavic crossride wheelset is entry level Mavic-la... think not UST rims.

Nego a bit cheaper-la...  whistling.gif  LOL

thanks for the guidance....i show this comment to the seller and shed off rm200 frm seller... rclxms.gif

1. SKS bearings come in complete set? where can i get it frm?

2. for the headset issue, any reliable headset to recommend if the current headset spoiled?

3. if proceed with the "convert to an external cup which can house a bigger and better cartridge bearing" - any bad issue if frame angle slightly slacker?

in the end brought the bike back happily...

It's a good buy. I think the frame are meant for 26". My guess is the owner had put in 27.5 and reduce the travel to 80mm?
You can see from the pic, the tire are touching the arc. Not a wise way to use 27.5" wheel on a frame that is designed for 26".

Anybody using any form of mudguards on their fork? Saw Topeak ones but way too heavy and bulky. Now looking at Bender Fender and Marsh Guard. Looks simple but seems more like a cutout from those flexible plastic chop board... might be able to DIY
