Nope not working. Tried it again after uninstalling/reinstall. I can go to the login page but after login in, it goes to the identify device (I have the notification set for using new devices) and then it will go into the refresh loop. Let me try and go into my Facebook settings in the computer and disable the notification for new devices checkin and see how it goes.

After re-flashing my Lumia, I have no photos in my Camera Roll. Luckily all my photos are backed up to Skydrive. I can see the camera roll in Skydrive, now how do I synced those photos back into my camera roll in the phone without having to download the photos individually which will be a damn pain in the butt one.

Answering my own question here. I just need to download the entire photos from skydrive to the PC and then drag it to the Camera Roll .... phew ... that should work .... now will this create duplicate backup in Skydrive though? Hmmmmmmmmmm

You need to update all the Nokia apps (Extras+Info etc etc), someone had put up a QR Code for all necessary apps in the Official Windows Phone 8 thread.

Must change the settings on my phone to allow for GPS tagging .....

Tested the find my phone and seems to work find (I enabled the Location Services, not sure if it will work if Location Services is off). Able to Find the Phone (got an email to) and was able to test ring the phone which is really cool. I'm on 1308 by the way.

Mine is the middle east version not AT&T. Just plug it in using NSU and it will be able to detect your current version and will find the necessary 1308 version for you.

Just make sure you backup eveything. I lost a 35 minute video that I took of my son's school performance because 1. I didn't back it up to Skydrive (now I do) and 2. I forgot to manually copy the video to the PC. Luckily my wife had a camcorder with her and also recorded the entire performance so I'm safe there.

MS really needs to have the same backup system like the iOS where you can backup multiple versions of your phone locally to the PC via iTunes. I know Windows Phone 7 can do this with Zune but they remove this for the WP8 which is damn bloody stupid.

Yes it does. If you back up the device locally via iTunes, it saves EVERYTHING. And it also does not overwrite the previous backup so if you backed it up manually, the backup file will be time stamped so you can choose whatever backup you want to restore to (last month's, last week's, yesterday's). All APP DATA (any app data and game saves) will be backed up as well so when you restore the phone, it will be restored and once you restore the apps (using either the store or using iTunes), the game saves and app data will automatically be associated with the restored app.

Now why can't MS do the same thing?

No need to re-restore Portico or 1308 if you missed the restore point in the phone. All you need to do is go to settings and hard reset the phone using the reset phone option. Then it will wipe the phone clean and then you will go through the entire process of setting up the phone again and you will be given a choice to restore the phone's settings ..... my gripe with that is the steps where "that" is the only time you can restore your backup AND the requirement for Cellular data which is BS. If you're roaming and have no access to Celular data, you're screwed.

I have absolutely no issues with them wanting us to backed it up to the cloud but the thing is, they don't even let us back everything to the cloud. If they allow us to back our game saves, camera roll (restored back to our camera roll etc) and app data to the cloud, at least I'll only be ranting about the stupidity of having to wait 2 days to get my 20GB of data downloaded back to the phone ....

Bitter taste in my mouth right now about this backup thing ..... losing data is my main OCD, so a bit pissed at the moment about losing the whatsapp messages and the videos.

How did you manage to do that? I religiously backed up my whatsapp messages (I have a lot of groups) and the only time it worked for me was when I accidently deleted a group and the messages. I search the web and whatsapp told me to uninstall and re-install the app and I managed to get those groups and messages back when I re-install the app (it says there is a backup available).

Now when I flashed to 1308 from portico, it automatically installed whatsapp but I only see the groups but the messages inside the groups were gone and no matter what I do, I was unabled to restore those messages .... thus the rant

Sh1t ... whatsapp was the app that didn't have any trouble restoring .... damn .....so I guess the trick is to not restore the apps setting and redownload the apps one by one .......

The thing is, the Facebook app is from MS not from facebook. MS uses facebook API and got a license from FB to use the name. I know they want to be different than iOS and Android but being different for the sake of being different is a horrible idea. They should have maintain the same UI as the iOS and Android version. Same thing goes for Whatsapp.

One of the reason I upgraded to 1308 was for storage check. My Others was already reaching 11GB (crazy) apparently when you install those massive games (Asphalt etc), it loads close to 1.1GB of stuff in the "Others" category. So imagine if you have 5-6 of those massive games ......

Sorry, story not complete .....

I had 11GB in others and I was on Portico, so decided to flash my phone with 1308 via NSU. That wiped everything including Others.

After the restore was complete (all apps were downloaded and re-install except for Asphalt), I had 1.4GB in what is now called Temp Storage (which I assume is Others in Pre-Portico & Portico models), I didn't want to use Storage Check yet because I know I was going to install Asphalt.

Downloaded and installed Asphalt and true enough my temporary storage is now 2.5GB (so the installation of Asphalt took 1.1GB and it was parked in temporary storage)

I cleared temporary storage and I manage to get back 2.4Gb with 38MB remaining in temp storage.
