its called newbie gains. you can easily gain 10-20kg of mass in the first year of training.

after that have fun trying to gain even 5-10lbs of muscle per year.

"10-20kg of mass in the first year of training."?.....
"5-10lbs of muscle per year"?.......
For most weight-gainers, .5 pounds per week would be an even more realistic goal as they reach their genetic limit. Remember that gaining muscle is a long-term project and not something that can be simply turned on.

what im saying is that newbies can gain alot of mass (fat and muscle) during the first year of training since the body is not used to training. i gained around 15kg the first year i trained consistently.
after the initial newbies gains are reaped, its harder to shock the body. its hard for a natty to gain even 5lbs of MUSCLE per year the longer he trains.

and you basically contradicted yourself. 0.5lbs per week for one year is 0.5 x 52 which is 26lbs.

im just saying this because people were surprised to hear you gained 8kg.

but whatever. just post pics.

Kaffatsum,
Are newbie gains same for every individual or do people peak at different gains?

I started at 56kg 179cm and I'm now 66kg after around 7 months of training (Very strength oriented though).

I haven't hit the 15kg mark yet (which seems to be the number most people associate with newbie gains)

Though people start complimenting me only when I hit 66kg when I started emphasizing on building my shoulders though.

Anyway, my goals aren't to become huge like most bodybuilders are, I just wanted to look like a decently built dude. Very interested to focus on strength and martial arts once I hit 70kg.

lol, of course they are different. genetics, how much you eat, if you care if you look fat, and other stuff all affect 'gains'.

but seriously. stop caring about your weight. it all matters about what you see in the mirror.
just keep lifting, keep eating, and rest properly. dont need to make it more complicated than that.

July 15 weigh only 48kg (too much cigg n lack of sleep). By start of November around 56/57kg. Didn't eat 6 meals a day, only 4 meals, 4 days workout per week.

Stopped since mid Nov till last week, slowly dropped to 51kg. This time too much happy hour n ciggs for farewell lol. Now stopped drinking and cut down smokes, start lifting again this week since moved to new city and left all the alcoholics behind lol.

Really? 90% of the gym goers I know who are huge and can lift heavy, can only dream about having visible abs with their diet.

That itself shows how shallow you are when it comes to the gym scene in Malaysia.

U show your photo, if better, we shut up, if worse, GTFO, don't google for images ya tongue.gif

My issue isn't with you personally. My issue is with you insulting ANY member's pic here. Whenever someone posts a progress picture, we always try to say something positive about it. If there is a flaw, we're honest about it without being too harsh or rude. You're resorting to downright demotivating insults. Do you think that's right?

TS "Share Your Experience", we should stick to the title of the thread regardless whether he's a newbie or experienced gym goer. As for those who likes to comment negatively and wanna take the forum as an entertainment spot, I suggest not to waste your energy, don't just train your fingers, hit it hard at gym always a better option smile.gif

In Malaysia, gym goers community isn't big, aren't we supposed to help one another? Why should we run down on others? Go out and whack the irons.. Strength never lies, same goes with leanness.. Growing big is easy, cutting with strength is an art of BB.. Cheers!
