EPF Dividend Based On Investment Performance
Payout guaranteed not less than 2.5%

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 October 2015: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) wishes to clarify that the dividend rate declared for the current EPF fund will continue to be based on actual performance of the investments for any particular year and will not be less than 2.5 per cent annually.

This, however, does not apply to the proposed EPF Shariah fund, which does not guarantee the minimum returns as any guarantee of fixed return will tantamount to interest (usury) that is prohibited under Shariah. Unlike the current fund, the dividends for the Shariah fund will be based on actual performance of the investments made under the Shariah portfolio.

The option for the EPF Shariah fund was one of the initiatives proposed to members during the EPF Members’ Consultation Campaign conducted in April this year. The results of the survey, which was conducted online, showed that 71 per cent of respondents agreed with the proposal by the EPF to allow its members to switch to a Shariah-compliant fund from the existing fund.

In response to the strong demand from EPF members, the proposed amendment to the EPF Act will enable the EPF to offer a choice to all members, regardless of race and religion, to elect for their funds to be managed according to Shariah principles.

Regardless of the members’ choice of account, the EPF will maintain its strategy of managing its investments to give stable and competitive returns to all our members.

cybpsych,

Which means the dividend yield rate between those 2 funds can be different.

technically, would be different.

but am guessing epf would try to make both comparable, if not, same, just to manage expectations from contributors and also mitigate confusion.

Look at the following words from the Sin Chew article :-

EPF deputy chief executive officer (investment) Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif said earlier the 2015 dividend rate would be declared after the Chinese New Year holidays, and that the rate was expected to be good.

EPF dividend rates for the past six years:
2009: 5.65%
2010: 5.8%
2011: 6.0%
2012: 6.15%
2013: 6.35%
2014: 6.75%

- See more at: http://www.mysinchew.com/node/113124/tid=1...h.u8HWmmZf.dpuf

If the Deputy CEO dares to comment that it's going to be good, then I would really like to see what the EPF terms as good. .... We must define 'good' here, and from this definition, we can predict for future divvies.
*
doesnt matter what EPF says, it doesnt hold any "water" if under-promised anyway.

proof it with any number higher than 2014's 6.75% thumbup.gif

EPF: No Change To Age 55 Withdrawal, And Introducing Akaun Emas For Age 60 Withdrawal

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 November 2016: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) today announced that effective 1 January 2017, Akaun Emas will be introduced as a second retirement nest egg for members working beyond age 55. There is no change to the current Age 55 Withdrawal.

The Akaun Emas is one of the initiatives under the enhancement to the EPF schemes as set out under the EPF Act 1991 where all new contributions received after age 55 will be automatically parked under Akaun Emas and can only be withdrawn when members reach age 60. This is to ensure the sufficiency of members’ retirement savings upon reaching age 60.

any ideas?

u can read thousands of speculations here and online.

wait till official announcement lo. furthermore, the dividend is applied to your balances throughout 2016, ending Dec 2016. knowing now wont make much difference except new dividend amount added to your epf acc.

From the chat, indicates that the earlier the announcement, the rates are better.

So, if EPF makes announcement next week, likely, the rate is reasonable.
*
doesn't matter anyway. early or late, up to EPF to announce the rate. we cannot control then quantum of the dividend.

even if they announced NOW, not that we can get the money out for use biggrin.gif. most of us still 'young' to get any substantial dividend amount.

Is EPF going to declare 2017 divident today? Check on their website says maintenance going on today.
*
can access as of now.

as usual, mid-Feb is the usual timeframe to announce 2017 dividend rate.

viewing 2018 statement would show message MBM2015: Statement for 2018 will be made available after the dividend for 2017 has been declared.

What are nominee and trustee mentioned there?

BB
How much to pay to ARaya for nominating them? Once off or yearly fee?

Thanks.
*
Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members who nominate Amanah Raya Bhd as the nominee/ administrator or trustee of their EPF savings will be charged a two percent flat rate as an estate administration fee.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017...aya-as-nominee/

If a member chooses to nominate ARB as nominee, then ARB will act as an administrator for all member’s savings.
A member can also appoint ARB as Trustee for a minor nominee who is below 18 years old.
Estate administration fee will be charged a 2% flat rate of the total amount of member’s savings upon the members’ demise.

meaning, u nominate ARB to manage your estate/harta, and they will kaotim the rest.

if you're under 18yo, ARB will be your trustee or penjaga for the estate/harta. i think la, not sure what happen after you reach 18yo.

this is why, ALWAYS PUT NONIMATIONS to your EPF, and update it periodically if there's a need. if no nomination, you need a will or nominate ARB or lawyer to get the money out.

with epf nomination, your family can kaotim directly with epf by submitting forms. straightforward affair.

Thanks.

I already have the EPF nominations in place.

I still need to get my will done. Thus when I saw the FREE will, I am interested. Ha.

Any other fee beside the 2%? Will ask ARaya.

2% is quite a lot, 250k = 5k, 500k = 10k, 750k = 15k, 1 million = 20k, 5 million = 100k etc.

Cheerio.
*
iinm, ARB basic will is about rm300+. they'll give u a simple card, in case your demise, next of kin can bring the car to ARB to execute your will.
