https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...-pandemic/56181 KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — Deputy finance minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan today said that the top 20 per cent of earners (T20) in Malaysia are "monopolising” the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) with their savings making up the bulk of the total amount. In contrast with other groups, the T20 also saw the savings in their EPF accounts increase by 11 per cent during the Covid-19 pandemic, he noted during the winding-up speech of his ministry at Parliament today. "The EPF is monopolised by the T20,” he said. In April 2020 the total number of funds in the EPF accounts belonging to T20 account holders was RM538 billion, which then increased to RM597 billion by December 2022, he said. A total of 2.6 million EPF members come from the T20 category, he added. Ramjade liked this post

QUOTE(Ankle @ Mar 3 2024, 09:42 AM) I have always wondered why announcements are on Sat or Sunday ... tradition kotwhy not on a working day ?? hmm hmmmm .... in the olden days before internet booming, news goes thru traditional media, eg paper, tv, magazine, etc weekend announcement, became mainstream news the next day. this gives more talking or gossiping or cursing points later during work or tea time. nowadays, news comes the second it is announced. also EPF sent media invitation and leaked out in the date, which is 3/3 , I guess easier number to remember too another is crediting and withdrawal (eligible). weekend announced, next working days can do business OTC. |

QUOTE(Duckies @ Mar 3 2024, 07:19 PM) that really depends on your current financial health lorif you can plan and manage the epf fund reasonably good till retirement age, ok la your house loan near ending? also good idea to clear it faster (my opinion). if loan still new, you wont see much impact now. but impact to epf fund is noticeable every year. how's your career? financial status? if you can sustain the mortgage, then no rush to use EPF, unless your trust in epf is low |

Don't want EPF Account 3? Here's a new option coming soon
However, members can soon make a recurring request to transfer the funds from Account 3 to the two other accounts. This was revealed by EPF’s Head of Policy and Strategy Department, Balqais Yusoff during a recent interview with BFM. You can specifically choose whether you want the contributions that are meant for Account 3 to be moved to Account 1 (Akaun Persaraan) or Account 2 (Akaun Sejahtera). Not only that, you will also have the choice to split and transfer the money to both accounts. Furthermore, the option will not be a one-off thing as members can also deactivate it if they need the Account 3 funds for that particular time. |
