QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ Feb 26 2024, 02:01 PM) great example.... Old guy like me will take scenario 1 to protect 30 years of my retirement fund to cover needs. Anything more I would put in higher risk assets and rebalance yearly.Just to share: at simple glance also pretty can guess that scenario 1 would be better than scenario 2. (of course the detail analysis proves it, so at end to really confirm still need the table.) scenario 1 is 55% arithmetic total return. scenario 2 is 60% arithmetic total return, but with years of volatility. ask any laymen to use their life experience: which would one choose? no risk or big risk with movement. This has more history: https://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/New_H.../histretSP.html Wedchar2912 liked this post

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Feb 28 2024, 03:50 PM) Huh? Some are b40 because working overseas. So their epf balance a few ringgit only. Dunno why they donāt convert their money to ringgit šBalance of below 1k How that's even possible???? š§š One cannot have zero balance? Unless those reach retirement age or just open new account... Those multiple times withdrawal given previously also.... Cannot empty your EPF account too.... |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Mar 1 2024, 11:34 AM) Well... can fix withdrawal by giving more dividend% for account 3. logically people won't take out. I started from bottom too... Everyone too... Unless you're born with gold spoon... Papa Mama $$$ to build up for $$$.... It's all about planning... Not enough money but spend on unnecessary things... Gaya lebih... Buy Honda to show off... Eat Maggie everyday... Now keep asking EPF withdrawal... Since already taste the 4x withdrawal previously.... It's like drug... Because of this all withdrawal... EPF performance partly down the drain too... (Other factors is local market performance)... but please give me option to move from account 1 to 3. nexona88 liked this post

Propose Zero% interest if they want to put money in Account 3. Only fair. if zero then who want to put in acct 3 ? put 1 and 2 better right. kevyeoh liked this post

QUOTE(ongth60 @ Mar 1 2024, 06:02 PM) We keep speculating about yearly dividend but do we have independent body that monitors epf investment strategy to meet any KPI set like dividend return? Like operating expenses of EPF, etc.. Got. Epf have to report to the prime minster and the finance minister. If you think of EPF as public company, then ROI is very important |

QUOTE(contestchris @ Mar 3 2024, 01:53 PM) Is this legal? It's literally stealing, is it not? Govt can do anything. At this rate, why not just make EPF shariah compliant. Can non Muslim choose Syariah option? Any drawbacks? If dividend rate same there is no difference between halal and haram money. I think can but haram money is still 0.1% higher. Drawback is once convert its hotel California |

Statistics like that always fall within Pareto Principle 80-20 rule. Only 20% of what we do matters the rest is a waste of time. Itās a brutal rule unfortunately and it works. Ankle liked this post

QUOTE(Rinth @ Mar 16 2024, 01:39 PM) Both of my kid are still below primary school age.. By the time they go uni, im not sure whether I willing to fork out millions for them to study, and whether they can even earn back the millions, many just study then work non related job of what they study⦠1 million 5% is 50k, maybe itās small amount in 15 years time but I guess still can provide them with basic necessities, and they should just go local uni and Iāll safe the million for their future usage hahaha. Very hard to predict. provide for them best of your ability but donāt expect them to care for you so thatās means look after your own retirement. You have to find the balance. nexona88 liked this post

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Mar 21 2024, 08:15 PM) They do publish some stats la but nothing concrete: EPF is a good place to keep realized gains after 20+ years of investing in SP500 and other ETFs. As long as market is positive, rebalance equity to EPF and reverse the process is market is down. Too bad EPF only allows 100k. why can' they increase it?Ya, so I go and get my own higher exposure to S&P lo. Paper gain or not, it's still a 20% contribution to my personal wealth. EPF will always be a more defensive play, their aim is not to maximise gains but rather to manage something better than inflation. Nothing wrong with that. But I don't see the point doing that more, when I can get that 10-20% other place, and still have EPF to fall back on if it fails. So that's my play. nexona88 liked this post

Only 2.9% real return from epf. Means inflation 2.6% ?

QUOTE(poweredbydiscuz @ Apr 16 2024, 02:05 PM) Isnāt it good? Epf become smaller means easier to get higher dividends? People take out money and spend means economy will grow. Prosperity for everyone. Good function to add imoMay I ask if itās mandatory. I want to opt out. |
