Chinese work hard. Tak beranak satu team bola sepak. What did they expect? Tarak duit, tak pakai condom, beranak beramai-ramai, kahwin 4. Of course hidup merana like that! If i beranak satu team bola sepak, i would have join them long time ago.
*
Why the need to talk like kopitiam here?

U think all Malays got team bola sepak, or marry 4?

U think just Malays in B40? N just Chinese T20?

Stop making racial generalizations.

does the gov have the power to say let us keep 20% and use the 20% to help pay the country debts?
*
No.

Btw EPF is the gov single biggest creditor.

1 month salary 1.8k
11% employee
12% employer
total 23%

1.8k x 23% = 414
414x 24 months = RM9936

so it is quite possible since yet to factor in dividend for the first year

so you are right blush.gif

but how come gov report that 76% of Bumiputera that contribute to KWSP has saving less than 10k?
maybe gov tipu us with the number?
*
Minus all the covid withdrawals..IIRC total 31k.

Maybe housing withdrawal as well.

Last year your 1 million EPF give you RM61,000. This year only give you RM53,500.

Plus inflation was at 7%... same meal same price but all the contents shrink a bit... 😅
*
If you have RM1 million, EPF give u RM61,000 in 21. Now, for 22, they give u RM56,333 due to conpunding effect.

it's all not about the money right...

but the investments is "clean", Islamic compliant & good alternative to conventional type  tongue.gif
*
EPF already practice ethical investing even for the conventional portfolio. U wont find gambling and alcohol n tobacco counter in the conventional portfolio.

The main difference being the existence of banks. Banks are cyclical investments, where in period of rising interest rates (like last year) tend to perform well. Shariah portfolio not able to profit from this.

Data from EPF web. Lazy to put in the graph titles etc. Ha.

Your view on these dissections?

In the 2nd graph, the Chinese really stand out with their savings, compared to other races.

P/S Before you reply saying the amounts stated are wrong as what you have in EPF is a lot more than the average for your age group, the stated amount is average, so diluting your higher amount. Median is the middle value from low to high.
*
Im shocked by how low the M40 average/median s..

It is what it is.... that's the stats... and only an approximation as we only have the active members' stats.

But if we try to link (not the right way to link also) this T10 having 510K rm in EPF with Khazanah's T10's mean income of like 12K rm per month, one will really start to wonder....
*
What is Khazanah's T10?

the original T20, M40 And B40 Income Classifications...

I first read it from a khazanah report, but it could be created by DSOM...
*
If its the Department of Stats one, then its about household income, not individuals.

Really worries about the future....
EPF better do something higher rate... And no more special withdrawal 😉

Gomen would top up $$$ for us

15 years I will be retired. No celery..so become B40 and will be beneficiary from tongkat.

Gomen also no money.

What tongkat ?

That is why need EPF !!!
*
They will tax the T20 more. Not my problem as I will be B40 then.

When thats not enough (it wont be), gomen will just push fiscal deficit higher resulting in either higher interest rate (good for retirees) or devaluation in MYR (need to hedge).

QUOTE(plumberly @ Mar 8 2023, 12:37 PM)
Pardon me if this is common knowledge. I only realised this the other day when I looked at EPF press release on their B40, M40 & T20. Why is the number of members in B40 and M40 the same? I used to think that there is only 1 common set B40, M40 & T20 for our country. Wrong. The reason why B40 and M40 member numbers in EPF are the same is that B40 is 40% of the members from the bottom up and M40 is the next 40% of the EPF population.

Ditto for B40, M40 & T20 in LHDN. And others.

So, we cannot compare/equate B40 in EPF to B40 in LHDN. Different population segment.

Maybe we can compare B40 in EPF with B40 of another retirement fund.

If I am wrong, please give me a shout. Thanks.

P/S Curious, which B40 is higher, EPF or LHDN?  Saw a report stating RM35k to RM100k as LHDN M40.
*
Maths wise B40 and M40 numbers must be the same...

N yeah its B40 ,M40, T20 of EPF members according to contribution..which is different than the one you will normally see quoted, which is actually from the Department of Statistics (not LHDN) which popularized this categorization.

Don't know.... but what I know is I am clearly in B40 according to the DSOM/LHDN definition.... in fact, I am at the bottomest 1% for sure.

I deserve handouts, and it should be based on DSOM/LHDN definition...

Please ignore my balance in EPF.

Were you able to recieve the Bantuan Rahmah recently?

You might also get patrol subsidy if they implement the subsidy reduction proposal.

Also can try apply for cheap housing like rumahwip.
