QUOTE(Ramjade @ Mar 1 2021, 03:17 PM) Actually I agree. Those with RM1m in EPF get paid say 2.5% while those RM500k below should get full dividend. I totally disagree. Those who save more should get higher dividend rates. This would motivate and encourage the poor to work harder and smarter to earn more.EPF is a retirement fund, not a charity. tbgreen liked this post

Its a retirement fund. Those who save RM1 or RM1,000,000 must get the same dividend as practiced all this while. If this bloody tiered div issue is really pushed fwd, then I would say those who save more should get more dividends, same as our income tax structure where the more you earn, you pay more income tax at a higher bracket. Then only it is fair and square. The poor are already getting cash handouts from the govt and they don't even need to pay income tax. And its wrong to generalize that contributors with >RM1 mil in EPF has other millions elsewhere. These are ppl who work and save hard all their working lives. And its wrong to generalize that ppl with lesser amounts in EPF are poor when their other funds could be parked elsewhere (UT, ASB, KWAP, PRS...etc). Poor folks can also invest in shares, albeit at a smaller scale. Everyone is responsible to earn his own living and make his own way in life. Leave the EPF as it is. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it should be another 5-ish run next year. Keeping fingers crossed.

The EPF should remove the RM60K annual limit for self-contribution, or at least incease it at at least RM100K. TheEquatorian and billy08 liked this post

QUOTE(TheEquatorian @ Dec 7 2021, 09:38 PM) It depends if they want to promote prudent saving among the members. There must be a lengthy process to introduce it, can they even do it mid year? Moreover, anyone with >1m can move the excess out if they were to introduce it and I suspect that group is not too impressed with how things are run in Malaysia today. I just pray it will not happen. Not every 1M+ member is investment-savvy to place their excess funds externally. The poor will just have to find ways to work harder & smarter to build up their own retirement funds, just like everyone else. Lets see how it goes. |

If the govt wants to implement this tiered div, then they should allow the top tier acct holders to be able to withdraw above a lower cap (i.e. any amount above RM 250K instead of the current RM 1Mio) TheEquatorian liked this post

If it really comes down to tiered dividends, make it an opt-in for those who feel very charitable and genuinely want to help out.
There are many members who skimp and save to reach > RM 1Mio in the EPF, not everyone is a C-level executive or corporate tycoon. Its our hard earned money, we deserve to gain the full blown dividend, not partial. Period. |

I dont think the retirement age will be raised, as this'll impact the job opportunities for the youth and young grads just starting out.

Remember to keep some funds for funeral wakes, burial plots or columbarium niches. Death comes at anytime despite us planning for retirement. TOS, wongmunkeong, and 1 other liked this post

Maybe the announcement is tomorrow ?
Anyway, the February 2022 caruman be seen now under withdrawal eligibility. Strangely, the January 2022 caruman is not. |
