This might not be very relevant, but I cant find a bettter place to post, I was wondering is it possible to use a normal PC USB wireless adapter for the xbox? coz my PC is in my room, and I am using wireless for it. I definitely not in the right condition to buy the official wireless adapter from M$, it cost a bomb.
*
Sorry dude as of current you are out of luck,
The MS adapter is the only way to use wireless on the 360 at the moment... I personally bought one, has not done me wrong yet, works fantastic.

For me its well worth the money (and the lesser headaches with wires)

I've been away for almost a week so I'm not sure if anyone has posted this:

Microsoft to drop Banhammer on Fake Live Accounts

If that is true it'll really suck for us.

Edit: Nvm I need to learn to read

hello guys....(planning to get 360 really..really...really soon...)

after reading almost all the pages, i assume that there is a different if we sign up using US address or Spore address...right?...the diff i meant is the contents that we are trying to search...or...additional contents...or else....right?....
..correct me if im wrong.....

and about the story of fake live accounts thingy.....
...it stated that they try to ban if doesnt match wit the "region"....
e.g:play in msia but US account............

...so....to eliminate this,is it better to use spore address bcoz we are in the same "region"....??.....

..sory for the super noob questions guys....

..and lastly..in the 1st page doesnt rwrite the address if want to sign up "from" spore address....so...i suppose i can google any corporate addresses in spore to use their address or use a fake 1st..2nd line of the address and then use a real postal code.....

...hope u guys help me wit these....

already got the answer.

"Of course, Xbox Live is primarily an online multiplayer service, and you need an Xbox Live Gold Membership to do that. When you upgrade to Xbox Live Gold, enhance your gamer profile with access to online multiplayer games, plus services like TrueSkill(tm) Matchmaking, and a personalized gamerscore and reputation. "

Yes to all your question.

Except the region, which we don't really know what gona happen next. Currently US account, you cannot use your credit card anymore. SG acc you still can use malaysia credit card.
Unless you just plan to buy point cards, then you still can go with US acc which come with the most content.

Will Microsoft automatically renew your Xbox Live Gold membership once it's expired if you opt to use Credit Card as the payment option?

In October 2006, I renewed my Xbox Live Gold membership using my mom's credit card. I chose 1-month membership, and it's supposed to expire (and revert my account back to Silver) in November. Till today, my Xbox Live account is still under Gold membership. I suspect that Microsoft automatically renewed my Gold membership once it's expired last month. Is that even possible?  unsure.gif

Mine does renew automatically...

I'm doing my first time connection to xbox live and I'm facing DNS failure. I'm using wired connection through Streamyx modem. Could anyone pls help me on this?
The xbox diagnostic passed on Network adapter and IP address but failed on DNS.

I also notice that in Network Settings we can manually key in the DNS number. Can it be done that way?

Leaving it at Automatic should work, as many forum member here can attest to. Otherwise , you can set it to the DNS setting given by Streamyx personnel, which i cannot remember, but i have preset it into my modem already. Maybe you can search it out in the Streamyx section of this forum.

A simple Googling brings up this:-

For Streamyx, the DNS IP are 202.188.1.5 [primary], 202.188.0.133 [secondary])

Dont know if this works.

Hi string fellow....

Thanks for your feedback. I've tried manually key in the DNS number given just now. Still won't work.
Already reset and the xbox and modem, still the same...
Haizz....now i'm really pissed off....

Is there a way to conform the DNS number inside the modem?

Another things, does anyone ever try using openDNS on their Xbox360?

^ check ur modem, if the DNS is hardcoded in the modem it self, could be it was wrong entry or u need to set as automatically assign.
My x360, I put my DNS as my router IP add. Works like a charm for me.

What's your xbox ip address..have u tried any of the following:
1) port forward 3074 for TCP and UDP, and 88 for UDP for your xbox ip address
or the easiest way
2) to enable DMZ for your xbox ip address

and if u r using wireless..key in your xbox adapter MAC address in filter list...

I'm no expert..just my 2 cent

Hi All...

Thanks again for the feedback...

I've tried put the xbox DNS at auto mode, result still the same.
My connection is direct from modem using cable. Still don't have router or wifi.

After I ran xbox diagnostic test, the result as below:

IP Add: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

As for the DNS setting, regardless if i put it at auto detect or manual keyin streamyx DNS number provided by stringfellow above, the result still the failed.

As for port forward and DMZ, haven't tried yet coz noob about it. The settings is done on PC or xbox?

How to check the DNS# if it is hardcoded in the modem?
