That will bring a repercussion of thread closure by Uncle Chong. cry.gif

Anyway as i was browsing to find another accessory for the camera and watched videos comparison in youtube, i found Ifootage products surprisingly innovative perhaps surpassing any other brands offering similar product in term of portability and practicality. Ifootage has only few products but they're all very impressive. Check them out:-

WILDCAT : Video Stabilizer

MOGOPOD : Advanced Monopod

MINICRANE - Portable Crane

The other night i was setting my camera to shoot saturn, then all the sudden the dang weather changed with thunderstorm and all, Saturn disappeared and without knowing what setting to shoot lightning, quickly set to sports mode. And yes i got this shot but Sports mode really bad for low light condition thus the building all noisy even though the composition was right.

Ok i successfully dumped the new CHDK firmware into my cam. It's still beta though but just for the sake of trying.

user posted image

The available guide is like so confusing and complicated so i compiled them into one simple step (in few sentences) duh:-

1. Dump all content into the root of your existing SD card (no need new card or format anything- just take the one you're using in your camera) after you unzipped it and ON the cam with play button. Press the menu button on the 1st tab go down to "firmware update". Take out the card and lock it to avoid overwrite. Insert the card again and ON the cam with play button. Done. You'll see your screen like the above pix.

The CHDK Firmware sx50hs-100c-1.1.0-2763-full (BETA)

Dont worry the firmware will trick the cam to save your pic in the card eventhough in the lock position. The lock is just to prevent the cam overwrite the firmware.

Just click the S button to switch to load scripts (Motion detector, HDR bracket, intervalometer-time lapse etc)

Last night still cloudy, i saw only 3 stars in the whole wide angle of the eastern night sky from my balcony and after checked via Stellarium, one of them is Saturn.

can see the shape as it tilted sideway confirmed by stellarium (below pix) but not clearly defined due to the cloudy sky

Expert said need to combine multiple shots in multiple exposures to get better result, problem is i do not know how to do that. And the thing about all these planets and stars viewed under 200X zoom are not stationary. You can easily see they move out of your frame within miliseconds.

SX50 may not have Panaromic mode out the box but it has stitch assist in SCN mode to stitch up to 26 shots for panorama picture. It also has HDR in the menu with 3 shots in diff exposures combined, Infact with CHDK this function extends to further bracketing. CHDK also overrides SX50's shutter speed to as fast as 1/100000 to 2048 secs (34min) and ISO to 80000

No mic jack? no problem, not like it needs external mic or anything. The stereo mic is sufficient even for concert.
