I'm actually quite interested in this camera. Can you show more pictures taken with it, macros and etc? Does it take good pictures under low light? What about fast movements like kids playing around?

1st im not a photographer been using camphone my whole life and my knowledge on photography is only a month old limited to the time i have with this camera which is on weekend but I'll try to take some photos.

So lets jump to bokeh shots in low light.

These photos are straight from camera.

You can get that shallow depth of field just like any other telephoto lens

user posted image

Sometimes you dont need so shallow DOF to blur all the background detail that also telling story

There is something about the colours that I don't really like when it's zoomed to the max
I wonder if without zooming, will the colours be like that too

Thanks a lot chokia for sharing infos and pics. I went to a shop to have a look at it but unluckily it wasn't in stock.
They showed me the new Nikon P520. The zoom is satisfying but too bad it doesn't have RAW format.
Now still haven't decided yet which camera to buy. Interested in this, Nex 6 and Pana FZ200.
Actually, I'm interested in too many cameras, haha sweat.gif

not sure about other brand but canon is also supported by camera hacking community, which is good cause these people are dedicated to improve the camera functionalities that were not advertised. It's like Jailbreaking your Iphone or rooting your android phone.

Apart of RAW that already native to SX50, Here are some of the features by CHDK (Canon Hack Development kit) that are not native to SX50 :-

1. Shutter, Aperture, ISO overrides
2. Can set up to 64s exposure compare to the native 15s
3. Depth OF Field Calculator
4. Auto Timelapse video making in any Mode and not just in miniature mode
5. Motion Detector
6. Battery indicator in %
7. Ultra-fast shutter speeds - up to 1/10,000"
8. High-speed Flash Sync at all speeds up to 1/64,000 second
9. File browser

More here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Manual

Beta version for SX50 was released few weeks ago http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/SX50

i will try this when they release the full version (non beta) since my card reader is also old card reader cannot read SDHC.

These shots were taken while waiting for friends for buffet lunch last sunday from inside Sharkey restaurant in E&O Hotel at least 50 feet away but they looks like she was just infront of my camera.

I wonder how much those freaking photographers (yes two of them) paid this underage school girl after exploited her to do all sort of posing in public places like this.

The leatherette casing (on 1st page) i bought last time looks ugly now with this new real cow leather casing which i just received. Unlike the old one this has canon logo embossed all over the place including the handgrip strap.

it also come with a camera bag that has canon logo too to put nasi lemak for picnic in the park. How convenient.

Talking about canon, i also did some research on the next printer i want for printing photo in A3 size. It will be brilliant to frame your photos and hang it around the house rather than all dump into flickr. i also want it to be able to scan those old photos from my school days as well and maybe able to direct print on CD too. And all preferably canon brand.

but unfortunately canon doesn't have All in one A3 printer yet but they do have some amazing printer (& cheap)

i found few candidates: (Canon model number really confusing - lower doesnt mean poorer)

1. Canon PIXMA iX6560 Price : RM788

Pros : Print A3 : resolution 9600 X 2400 dpi with 4,608 nozzles
Cons : No scanner

2. PIXMA MG6370 Price RM 698.00

Pros : all in one : resolution 9600 X 2400 dpi with 6,656 nozzles
Cons : Not printing A3

So i have to wait until canon come out with All in One A3 Printer or choose other brand like brother.

3. MFC-J2510 InkBenefit (MFC-J4510DW) Price RM899

Pros : All in One and print A3, really beautiful design
Cons : 1,200 x 6,000 dpi (not so high dpi compare to Canon) and no CD printing

4. Epson inject printer famous with nozzle blockage problem - so i'll try to avoid them totally

5. Other brand like HP either looks like mini photostating machine or simply ugly (and bulky)

Not sure what kind of photography art are these but they look interesting. Sort like HDR or something. Check it out collection shot by Mertonian in his SX50 Set:-

Waah, didn't realise this topic thrived. Very good job chokia. You've been reading up on the manual, I haven't, no wonder my pics were average to say the least. Will be trying to get some good pics in my rounds to the Kedah this weekend. smile.gif

Reminder to self: Please read manual
