QUOTE(hazremi @ Mar 13 2007, 01:06 AM)
so can u tell me what is the hotel at pantai cenang?thx rclxms.gif
*
Pantai Cenang has one of the longest beach in Langkawi with all the shoppings, eateries, budget hotels to hi-end boutique hotels & Underwater worlds are there. it is about 25KM away from Kuah town. and only about 3KM South of airport. However the water quality is one of the worst in Langkawi..

Interm of hotels yes there ere plenty especially budget hotels, chalets & etc <RM100/nite

For Hi-end hotels/resort, you can try Pelangi Beach Resort (i.e the starting point of Pantai Cenang) or even the boutique Casa Del mar (opposite laman Padi) (Price >RM300/nite)

For mid range you can try Aseania (however this is not beach hotel a little further inland between Cenang & Pantai Tengah junction) <RM150/nite

For budget, That is what makes Cenag kicking....dozens of hotels & motels to choose from al from RM60 up to RM150 such as:
Sandy Beach, AB Motel, CD lodge, Melati Tanjung, Best star, Delata, Nadia Inn, Legenda Permai, Tg Malie & etc....(U can book this via agents at Airport, Jetties at Kuah/Kuala Kedah)

Besta Villa (previously Tiara) is in Kuah Town. Yes it is nxt to the sea BUT no beach. I think it was build from reclaimed land long time ago. Beside the hotel, there are a dying biz centre (mostly closed & only few dirty eateries)..U need to drive out about 1KM to the Kuah town to try the seafood on the right hand side of the junction. The famous seafood there is Teo Seafood..the chef was a middle age guy migrated to EU & learn lotsa chinese cooking from restaurant in EU....there is an article of him in the Stars years back which he proudly displayed on his shop....price so-so..dinner for 2 can cost u ~RM35..for budget go for those Hawker centre around Kuah town..price about the same wth KL except the beer which is cheaper than the soft drink!

Budget expenses:

Renting Kancil - RM40/day =RM120 +RM40 for petrol
Makan-makan - RM15/day/pax (really budget) = RM50/trip
Shoppings - ~RM100 for chocolates & clothes, If liquor need additional RM100, & Others about RM100 (Cookeries/shoes)
Entrance fees - Budget around RM100 if u want to go to Aquarium, Cable car, & etc.

The longest beach is located at Pantai Cenang and its also the happening beach but also the lousiest beach interm of water clarity. It is located Northwest of Kuah about 25KM away....The easiest way to there is by renting a car or motobike..public transport is unreliable & expensive in Langkawi....U can rent a cheap motobike if u r really on budget tather than a car....

Lotsa budget hotels there which I hv listed in my post about 10 posts earlier...For budget travellers without any heavy shopping & no visiting to exp attractiobs ..should be enuf but again normally ppl also go langkawi for liquor & cigarettes & u r one of them really not enuf when u see liquor/beer & cigar prices is cheaper by up to 200%

Either at the jetty or Airport

You need to negotiate kaw-kaw....bargain for atleast 100% from quoted price!

For eg..Nissan Sentra 1.6 - Quited RM140. U can bargain till u get it at RM70.

Other cars (Beware starting price quoted always very high) price quoted after best price negotiation:

Kancil - RM40/day (probably lower)
Wira/Iswara -RM50/day
Waja - RM60/day
Sentra & Honda Civic - RM70/day
Altis - RM80/day

U mean u thrash the car or the car is in bad shape? If the car is not up to your liking, just change to another one...Way back in 1997, I rented a hyundai coupe tot really cheap coz got it for only RM60 but after driving the car damn underpower & on 2nd day damn difficult to start, drive bck to jetty & got it change to a newer wira.....
