ill be going langkawi this coming 8th aug to the 11th aug.. (sat to tue)
my flight there is by mas about rm158 and back by AA about rm 250 (for two person) sadly i'd be staying in the nadia's inn. heard its dodgy. cause i really wanted to book langkasuka. but there isnt any rooms available on sat.. (cheap ones below 100 bucks). nadia's inn cost me about 186 for 3 nights. anyone know the status as it is currently? lol.. thy didnt do any facelifting? or renovation? anyways.. the period i am traveling. is it peak? thought of renting a car at the airport. a friend of mine who went last week got a wira for 50 bucks. do you guys think i could get the same too during my traveling period? thanks! |

Don't call direct to the hotels..most of the rooms have been pre-booked by foreign & local travel agents & thus u probably hearing no rooms..but once u reach Langkawi...even during Hari Raya also u can get room..all from those travel agents/ car rental companies that have pre-booked those rooms..

Hi guys, i seldom have experience booking for room. So i need to ask, in order to save budget, can me n my friends of 6 ppl stay in a same room(2-queen size bed) without paying extra charge? in either Langkasuka Beach Resort or Aseania Resort(they look vr nice). Did any1 have this kind of experience? I truly appreciate your advice.

Get those cheaper chalets probably about 60 perperson pernight. |

If stay like langkasuka, book the 4person/room type. Extra 2person, they don't care much. Check in/out, don't whole bunch of people go to lobby to register. Others just direct go in to the room. |

Read a lot that very easy and cheap to rent a car in Langkawi. My questions are:
1) How's the condition of the cars for rental? 2) Rental is paid upfront or paid when returning? 3) There's probably a few sets of keys for a car, how safe for us to park the car in town or hotel when staying overnight? 4) Is it better to rent from company than individual? 5) How do we actually return the car, cos I don't want to end up being accused of stealing a car? Sorry for the noob questions but hope somebody can help give me answers. My trip is the coming school holidays. |

1) Condition can be bad sometime...Once I got a super cheap hyundai Coupe for RM50/day but can't start nxt Morning & power worst than Wira!..Hv to changed bck to Wira. So check after they deliver the car to you.
2) I think I paid upfront + deposit. Once key return, they return you the deposit 3) Langkawi is a closed island...I dun think anyone really wanted to curi rented car. How to export later? There was once in the jetty car rental, I returned the car wth the key still inside the car as instructed by the car co. (>16yrs ago).. They dun even wanted to check the condition (i banged the car!!)...Nowadays those company no more stupid..asking for deposit liao! 4) I dun think any individual renting car in langkawi..all by travel agencies ..melambak in langkawi both at jetty & Airport 5) just retur the key & get back your deposit |

QUOTE(stacko @ Jul 31 2009, 03:32 PM) Read a lot that very easy and cheap to rent a car in Langkawi. My questions are: 1) Depends on what car. Normally expect 70% for older cars (ie Speedometer not working properly).1) How's the condition of the cars for rental? 2) Rental is paid upfront or paid when returning? 3) There's probably a few sets of keys for a car, how safe for us to park the car in town or hotel when staying overnight? 4) Is it better to rent from company than individual? 5) How do we actually return the car, cos I don't want to end up being accused of stealing a car? Sorry for the noob questions but hope somebody can help give me answers. My trip is the coming school holidays. 2) Normally upfront. 3) Island not that huge and ppl there generally don't steal cars couze its not easy to ship out one. However doesn't apply to things in the car though so don't leave valuables. 4) Either is ok depends on what car you want, how much you willing to pay and car condition. 5) Many ways. Some require you to pass the keys back to the company staff some just require you to leave the car in the parking with the key(My experience with car rental in the Airport). Like mention before car is the last thing ppl will steal there. |

Thanks stimix and Dark Kai. At least now if I'm told to leave the key in the car, then I'm not shocked or nervous.
But then if I pay a deposit, then definitely I need to return the car properly and get back my deposit, right? |
