wow, i cant believe i am reading this in elantra thread lol.  im still undecided between K3 and elantra though.
*
its easy to decide...u put both cars side by side...u compare the exterior, then u compare the interior. u see some people taste base on this 2 only...some people base on how the car performs and handles, some like the features and so on...so its up to u...

but if u ask me, i never regret buying HE. i'm glad cerato come out later than cerato..but usually test drive make the difference...so have them both tested. and ask urself what u want...

but if u dont want people saying ur car is ugly, buy HE.... thumbup.gif

Not really powerful lar.. i would say is ...it will not under power.

1.6 vs 1.8???????...of course more cc more power...just put all 4 passengers in car. which car will go faster?????c'mon guys, simple physics la...

1.6 feel faster but actually its not fast...to make the car move yes its faster but when the car tries to climb from 80-160kmh, 1.6 fails. (sorry 1.6 owners) but some cars have a good gear ratio that helps to move the car according to its power.

example, i use to have a b16a engine, i changed the gear ratio shorten gear 3 & 4. 1, 2 and 5 maintain current. the car was really fast!!!!! but when i change engine to 1.8, the gear ratio didn't suits in...coz car making more power but since the gear 3 and 4 was short the power didn't have the chance to perform...

so for HE 1.6 its not an under powered car...10 years back it is. now its not...

heard lately Hyundai throwing great promo and discounts for  both 1.6hs  and 1.8,  is it true?  dunno if it's due to cerato.
*
they should...kia is their nearest competitor...cerato is pack with goodies(full spec).

so big difference in FC between shell and Caltex/Petron..
*
shell really convincing since they have budget for advertisment. fuel saving here nd there. but reality its not fuel saving...so need to test other also..give them a chance...some people just pour in what station nearest to them. but for me i choose petron (petrocanada engine oil)for past 6 months it gives my car the best performance and good FC.

Hi,

that is normal, it is actuallynot from engine, it is from the exhaust system, this is very normal for C segment cars, because of the high horse-powered engine, the exhaust seems to be more hotter, this info i got from one my fren using perdana V6, he has good knowledge in car engine systems,
*
i also hear the same thing....yes its from the exhaust system...after i drive the car (i usually commute daily each trip 90 minutes) if i drive just a while no tak tak tak.....

i think its a metal thing as its hot material will expand and this will make the sound...i guess... wink.gif

i had the same prob, mine was worst, i can't even speed more than 120kph, the car will became very unstable, once i reported, they said need to change the rear shock absorbers and the coil spring to more improvised version, after change, ok can drive fast, cornering i will say slight improvement, the skips is still there on uneven surface cornering, but to be frank when u go on highway at high speed the car will feel very soft, so when take highway long cornering from the most left side (speed lane) u have to hold the steering light, because the Elantra EPS is not good in putting proper weight to the steering, maybe only i feel so  blink.gif , but for me after i pass above 160kph, my car is more stable because of the rear diffuser i have, it makes the car like stick to the road, hehe, but still the steering feel soft, so have to handle it lightly, my fren suggest to install anti roll bar on rear lower arm, maybe i might but not now, apart from that, it is a great car, good for touring at speed 120 - 140kph(stable mostly at this speed), very comfortable ride, regarding FC, like what civispoon claim, engine oil and the type of petrol u use makes allot different, DON'T GO FOR SHELL, it sucks, will make ur car under-power, i use petron and clatex, even on rough driving i can get 425Km untill my last bar started to blink and still push the car further to 10 - 15km before i pump oil, normal drive combine cycle, i can get good FC easily 480 to 520Km until the last bar started to blink, mine is 1.8, hope this helps
*
great to hear you get good FC. but for handling wise, yes i agree hyundai is very sucks on that dept...at first very hard to adjust coz need constantly put steering input especially when cruising on hways..but now ok a bit...for the rear suspension its a failure from hyundai, surely...coz evryone is feeling the 'skips' especially on corners...for me no need to drive really fast at each corner...its skips only if there is a small bump at the corner...if smooth surface, cornering is ok...but if u drive alone...if u have passengers and some uneven cargo in boot, now its hell to drive...really unstable...

so people say just install rear antiroll bar and engine strut bar...yes it will make the firmer on the road...i not yet install it....since i always drive alone...maybe when i get my bonus next year will plan to install it...coz when u drive with family u need safety...u can't drive slowly all the time...sometimes when it comes to emergency cases u need the car in really good shape...

Torn between the Elantra 1.8 and Mazda 3 2013 sedan 1.6

What are the common problems u guys have encountered with the Elantra?
*
mazda 3 new car is coming out right? that one is sure a best seller...preve hatchback anyone???? c'mon...proton is making joke of themselves...its really frustrating actually coz the car was delayed its launching and when it was launch its nothing new bout the car...its still a preve but only got emblem 'turbo' at the back...why didn't put it earlier?its really disappointing actually to see your national car like that...and the car design looks like it was cut and paste...my 7 yr old can do that...

I Strongly believe it is the Tyre, i had the same issue after i did alignment, the alignment shop fellow claim the chamber and all alignment setting is good and he say this is the Tyre issue, mine also was pulling to the left, so what he did he took out the left tyre/rim and put it to the right hand sight and right to the left, after that the car started to pull to the right but very minimal compare to how was in left sight, so there he confirms this is because of tyre even not rim because when he change, he did check the wheel balancing, the rim is in good shape not dented, after the change the car drives way better with slight pull to the right, finally i had a idea, i know that that rear part of the car is not adjustable it is fixed, so i took the rear rim/tyre and swap it with the front rim/tyres, so the front set goes to the rear and rear set comes to the front, immediately the problem solved, give it a try and see....
*
waaah, very smart la you...if your idea works why not give it a try....its no harm...just a few bucks to do it...

how much are you getting for city drive? i could only manage an average of 400km until the next fill up (ard rm80 full tank) sweat.gif  sometimes pump petron sometimes shell. 90% city and only 10% highways.
*
if ur 1.8 model then its logical to get that mileage if ur on city most of the time...coz my mileage is 60% hways 40% city/jam. its hard to save fuel if your always stop n go...city cars are suitable for 1.6 and below coz its low cc car or hybrids that off the engine and on the motor during traffics...thats the only way to save fuel efficiently..bigger cc cars will suffer mileage in cities...so your he is normal. try to pump petronas. coz i heard mostly people save alot of fuel with petronas but less in power.

Tyre profile too thin. That is why easy dent and fc so so. Lemme know if can get a thicker tyre without changing rim...
*
thats why i change the rims...since my stock rims already dent 2 pcs soi bought rota rims 8 inch. then again i thought with these new rims will have the same problem as stocks coz tyre profile still 45...to my surprise, when i hit the pothole the feeling of hitting the rims is no more...so maybe because of the rota rims stretching my 215 tyre make my profile thicker than before...so its not so annoying when hit holes coz with stocks small holes also damage the rims...so not anymore...ride quality maybe a bit different but cornering is more stable and fast...but skip bump still can be feel...

Hi all, white color variant is solid color or metallic? Besides, will it turn to yellowish after 4-5 years? Im thinking to get white color elantra. Thanks all
*
it will turn to yellowish...so better opt for red or blue or silver or hypersilver...these color look attractive on road...white ok but really hard to maintain if raining seasons and easy to get water marks...if i could turn back time seriously i will get one of the color above...to me most attractive color in order as below....
1. read
2. blue
3. hypersilver
4. silver
