Whoever wants to join FF, please alwayz ask them to knock off the joining fee. that fee is CRAP. its fake.. its just there to add extra value. and also, the monthly fee, try and bargain... i'm a member at ff with RM120 monthly bill for my passport.(i joined with the friends&family coupon) if you join through the family member package or somehting like that, its RM105 per month. They got all sorts of packages and whatnot... (dunno if still got or not)

A good way to get cheaper rates is to actually go to other commercial gym like celebrity fitness/true fitness and get a lower rate, then go back to FF, tell them the lower rate that the other gym is offering, and HOPE that FF MC will give you an even lower rate. It worked for a friend of mine.

What are you paying now? pasport or home?
maybe quit and join again? just jk. don't actually do it.

What should you do? one way is to wait for coupon or stuff like that... but thats not advicable.

Now, using that method, my friend manage to bring down the monthly fee to RM13X (hundred and thirty something). However, he decided to join celebrity for 149 instead cos he liked the atmosphere more tho. personal preference.

Yeap, i saw mun's blog. and if you go to dailymuscle.com, there is a lady which was discussing the rates taht california fitness was offering.. went down to RM39/month? i'm not sure.. but i think thats dirt cheap!!!! i would like those rates too if my memory serves me correctly.

However, my friend joined FF in Australia. and AFTER converting his monthly payment to RM, its around RM100 per month for passport. but i don't know how the FF in Australia is like.. so can't really compare that way too.

About gyms being pasar malam, here's my guess on it: FF is one of the first commercial fitness center (note that i did not say gym) in Malaysia, and cos of that, they were the ones to set the rules for themselves. they set this ridiculously high prices which ppl accepted - accepted cos ppl DID join at those rates. and then now with the competitions of similar services by true fitness and celeb fitness, they wanna start some price battle on it.

Based on my perceptions on ghetto gyms, it has a more down-to-business-feel (not like this commercial fitness centers) and its much cheaper too. But as a member of FF, i must say i'm quite comfortable there so far..... haven't really checked out ghetto gyms myself... wouldn't mind joining one tho.

Anabolic Gym by egonutritions are way cheaper than FF. but you don't get fancy group exercises and stuff like that. its pure weights and hammer strength machines which are suitable for weight lifters.

Like i said, bargain loh...

Anyway, you could ask if they have promotional rates which may be cheaper than yer current rates.

if you don't want them bugging you. give a fake no? they'll usually keep on calling you wan. unless you can recognise their no and just hang up whenever they call. OR, join anyway if you really like it.

Actually @ ff Axis, b4 5pm, its RM2 per hour.. not per entry.
the way they calculate is just abit odd. if you go in at 4.20pm, and ciao at 6:20 you'll pay rm2, cos the other hour bracket (5:20pm onwards) is free (free after 5). so its like you only pay from 4:20 to 5:20pm.
but if you go in at 3:50pm, and ciao at 6:10pm... you'll pay rm4.

Usually those promo the MC won't get much commision or none. thats why they don't really push those promos...
might be hard for you to get...
after i joined the 120 one.. the RM105 per month can up... i think got some members here witht he 105/month one also...

Alot of ppl would want to tansfer that. but if i remember correctly, that package is for family or someehitng like that. so dunno can transfer or not. whoever wants it.. better find out quickly. hehe. i'm sure freestyle would be interested too.

PT's are not all that bad... i usually train in Manulife now and there's a few good trainers there which i can see... one of em happens to be my personal friend which helps me check form when i'm all tired and focus lacking lol. but he only help when he's not busy with his clients

knees? why huh... maybe u stepping on it wrongly... i have knee problems but my knees were fine when i tried out the cardio wave machine for about 8 mins.


Elliptical machine is the one like flat skiing...
cardio wave looks like the roller blading movement type of machine...
can be executed with back upright, bentover or any variation in between and such...
in FF axis, the lounge area is see the cardio wave section.... i think the ff managers purposely put it that way.. so the people lepaking at the lounge got something to look at

while at that.. i want the 1.25kg plates in Manulife as well... so annoying to jump 5 kgs all the time..

plates not cheap ler.
and i dun mind 2.5kg jumps. thats not too bad.
the problem is, Manulife FF does NOT have 1.25kg plates like the OTHER FFs.
the lightest they have is 2.5kg plates.. meaning one on each side is 5kg jumps.

they do have that small silver 2.5 lbs plates.. but those frequently go missing and only 3 pieces of that. sigh.

I think i'm gonna visit another FF, Curve or Axis or whatever, and take a couple of those 1.25kg plates into my bag... and then drop em off at Manulife the next time i get there
