QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 10 2013, 11:11 AM) Haha I know, but the idea was to do our own cycling tours on some famous cycling routes and conquer the climbs. Well I've sparked the idea of doing that, and I already got 2 buddies highly interested. Maybe Pyreneese, and the likes. Stelvio and Pyreenese is different right? ohhh... don't get me started on climbs...Do you know or recommend any other beautiful scenic famous mountain passes? I got until 2015 to make it come true before I went back to KL for good. i think the easiest is to see if Trek has cycling tours during your travel dates...they do organize this cycling travel tours for tourists http://www.trektravel.com/france-bike-tours.php or you can go during July and maybe even join the etape du tour which the masses will ride the queen stage of the tour 1 day before the peloton passes it on race day...i heard it was damn fun... http://www.letapedutour.com/ET1/us/homepage.html as for climbs... you can't miss the big 5 climbs of the tours 1) Col du Galibier 8600ft, (just a u turn at the top if i am not wrong...nothing to see except for some graffitied signposts and roads...) on the way up, you climb the Col du Telegraphe as well if i am not wrong 2) Col du Tourmalet 6900ft, (can visit the Jacques Goddet memorial at the top of the climb) 3) Mont Ventoux 6200ft, (the wind blown bald mountain) 4) Alpe d'Huez 6100ft, (need i explain more???, the famous 21 hairpins to the ski town) 5) Col de l'Iseran 9,000ft (just an epic climb) 5.5) Col de Portet d'Aspet 3500ft, (not epic, but for me personally because it is such a part of the tour with Fabio Casartelli's death in 1995 and his memorial on the descent where he had his crash) other notable climbs if you can do it which is usually quite close or linked to one another... 1) Plateau de beille around 6,000ft 2) Port de Pailheres around 6,500 ft 3) Col de la Colombiere around 5,000ft 4) Col de la Bonette close to 9,000ft if i am not wrong 4.5) Avoriaz don't know how hight, but just because the ski town looks so fantastic sitting at the edge of a cliff usually the climbs in france are distributed to 3 main regions, usually the Alps, Pyrenees and also the massif central...and some climbs actually goes over the borders of italy or switzerland i believe climbs like stelvio pass is also accessible from france via a bit of driving if i am not wrong... interesting? Wa pun si Penang lang. penang got cycle lanes in the main town area already right??? they did the whole campaign for a lane thing... you got go back and lend your support or not???My relatives have been telling me the sudden influx of cyclists in the state itself, which makes me wanna bring my bike there over the weekend just to enjoy cycling around there and buy char koay teow. BTW, don't worry about spending 2.3k or something, you will soon forget it, sim teah one time, but the end result, better than buying a car where you have to spend a lot of money once your 1 year old front adjustable absorber fails you. C*B**. Makes me wanna just give up on track driving and concentrate on cycling. That being said, who wants to cycle to klang for BKT? f@k track driving... it's a waste of money... it's like trying to jam 50 naked dudes into a small sauna room and they will be rubbing sausages there... f@k SIC management... they are stupid for charging so much for public track days... and f@k adjustables... stock abs rule...every turn you feel like capsizing...wat is the point of driving on the limit if you don't feel on the limit of killing yourself right... no adrenalin rush, then no point... i think of BKT everyday... as much as mila kunis... |

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 10 2013, 01:01 PM) Haha i'm bookmarking this and it will be our tour reference. Thanks for the organiser links. If can tackle all the famous climbs in the tour then it'll be good lah haha. those climbs are epically tough... but they are not murdering gradients because the routes are super long to achieve those elevations...Just hope that my knees can cope with all the climbs! My highest elevation so far is still the Fraser climb..looks lame compare to those alps and Pyreenese climbs. No need Stelvio la for sure couldnt cope anymore aftet the tours i think some of the big climbs are 50-60KMs in length from the base... so the gradient would average at around 6-9% and not punishing like bola del mundo, kronplatz, monte zoncolan or those crazy climbs like alto del angliru in spain |

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 10 2013, 03:09 PM) Damn the trek travel seems to be the best options in terms of packages offered! I didnt found out about this one earlier. i think you can trust trek to do a good job on it...QUOTE(Snowguy2068 @ Apr 10 2013, 03:44 PM) ah BM is pretty near so no problem. giant should have something slightly or above RM3k... but penang, not sure...hmmm need to go more shops. for 2-3 k range ten speed. giant got any good selection? you can call JBS bikes over here... that is if you don't mind driving down to KL to buy... pink bike trading used to have giants... you can also check with them if they can acquire stock or they already stopped selling giant bikes... |

ohh.. u mean the k-edge or sram chain drop protector???
i use the k-edge ones... it is one essential thing to have for a carbon frame or a drop chain can damage the BB area...surface damage that is... the new sram red chain drop protector is much better because it has an adjustment screw to adjust how close the protector comes to the small chain ring... QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 10 2013, 05:57 PM) Ya thats the one at FD there. Mine seems not to have skip anything but just wondering if it's any good. Gonna increase some weights IMO. it can help save you from getting some dirty fingers if your chain drops and it could also cause you to have a andy schleck moment...I am also looking for the one to hold your rd so you can still pedal when you remove your rear wheels, eaiser to wash the bike. Is it tensioner? i have the birzman chain keeper ![]() but i know the pedro's one is the better one to have as my birzman is not as nice to use as the chain keeps hopping out if you are more rough with it... ![]() QUOTE(miaopurr @ Apr 10 2013, 07:47 PM) it's a good thing to have especially if you have a carbon frame.. and more so if you have long cage RDs... |

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 11 2013, 02:25 AM) The Pedro one looks good. Thanks for the brand suggestion...will look out for it. very evidently he is a fully morgan blue product supporter...What brand is this mechanic using? mine is 2 bolt. It's the heaviest seatpost between the other two seatposts I held at GHS. I think I will go for sworks thingy la..brand loyalty. My current one comes standard with the frame and damn cun because all black. I held the sworks and the weight difference was like day and night! Only red is available at the day I bought my bicycle so I didn't buy, and plus it's expensive. morgan blue does produce a chain keeper i just checked ![]() but i think it might be a part of their maintenance kit.... not sure if it can be sold separately... http://www.morganblue.net/index.php/en/pro...erhouds-kit-eng |

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 11 2013, 02:32 AM) those things never fail la...although that cheap one uses a clamp and that can damage your pretty frame...you better get braze on ones...QUOTE(mrjgx @ Apr 11 2013, 03:06 AM) no it is 104g of difference for 143mm. weight of vegetables only..I prefer the looks of the Romin black though and the shape. But my butt has not tested the Romin yet so can't decide on it. It is heavier than the Toupe anyway. romin is a more rounded saddle...so, it's a bet if you haven't sit on one... the problem would rather be is it worth the discomfort for the looks and 104g difference? in case the saddle is not suitable for you? |

giving flowers to the butt pinchee...how gentlemanly of sagan, NOT!!!
![]() did some apparently she is a administration production assistant at the Flanders classics and she is only 6 months into the job before she was harassed... how cool is that... http://be.linkedin.com/in/majaleye she was obviously not happy about the incident...
