No doubt that the K-5 feels more professional and has better buttons layout. But one thing that runs me down is the processing time every shot takes to view the pictures in RAW+ mode. Comparing the K-30 and K-5, the K-30 really makes a lot of different. I guess the PRIME M processor is much better than the PRIME II.

And one thing that keeps me from going straight for the K-5 IIs is also the same problem as the K-5.

Ah yes, the one disadvantage of the K-5. I noticed it too when I tried the K-30 next to the K-5. The K-5 is indeed a bit slow, for example when I press the play button after taking a photo (I have deactivated instant review). The rest of the camera is miles ahead of the K-30 though, so... what to do. You'll have to wait for the K-5 replacement then...

Currently pulling back from getting the K-5 IIs. Not much imrovements from the original K-5. Just the sharpness and the quicker AF system at lower light conditions. Other than that, is the same. Still waiting for what Pentax will offer by end of this year.

Cheers.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Sometimes it really gets very annoying when you are taking a group photo and everyone seems to be looking at you waiting for you to say "OK".

But knowing the K-5, sometimes I don't need to look at the preview and quite confidently know that the pictures will be perfect.

I just burst in those cases laugh.gif But yeah, in such situations faster preview would be great. I think it also has to do with the camera having to save the photo first before it then reads it and displays it. If only Pentax could leave the photo in buffer, unless the buffer is full and space is needed. Then it could just take the photo from the buffer...

I have a 18-55, I suppose first gen (somewhere around 2005?), a 50mm Centon (in a very bad shape...), a 80-200 Tokina, and that's it. Couldn't get the 10-24... sad.gif

I dont think we only need expensive lenses for use with our dslr. as we can see from the list, the most worthy lenses are those like 16-45 and the 50 1.8. i have tested 50 1.8 before and im definitely impressed.if it is priced more or less like canikon, im definitely getting it.

btw, some news about pentax lenses

http://photorumors.com/2013/08/27/pentax-t...ular-apertures/

instead of coming up with new lenses, they come up with new coatings. but theres still hope for new lenses though.

I personally like the green ring more laugh.gif

Red ring look canon-ish.

Still good to see they are upgrading the current lenses.

But IINM the 50 1.8 is like 2-3x as expensive as the equivalent Canon lens... doh.gif

Well, if the new coatings help...

Circular apertures? That could be interesting...

To be honest I'm well served. A fully functional 50mm would be nice (perhaps with AF), and an ultra wide angle, but that's all. Maybe replace the 18-55 with something better (I don't think the coatings on mine are in the best condition anymore... it is a well used lens laugh.gif ).

I also prefer a green ring... but it's not exactly important.

This is what I have. I'd like to have a cheap 50mm 1.8 from Pentax... but they aren't making it. Maybe I'll find a second hand one... the old ones. I also want a 10-24 from Tamron. Then I'm served. I wouldn't mind the 16-45 from Pentax for example to replace the 18-55, but it's not necessary.
