Press space when unarmed, you can punch zombie and other players. The only melee weapons worthwhile are the splitting axe and the fire axe. Found in small shed and fire station. use dayzdb.com to check nearby loot area. Find your bearing using the signposts and landmark like factory, hills and other things.

I normally log in to the DayZ SG 1-26. Today server was a bit bonkers, restarted 3 times while I was playing and the last time it stop, I could't find it on the server list so I called it a day.

For graphics I suggest you guys turn off the clouds. I got a good improvement after I did that. In fact most of my settings I've set low and the game still looks beautiful. This game is not to look good, its to survive so I turned off or set low most of the graphic options so I can have smooth gameplay.

This morning managed to play a few hours.

My character from the night before got wiped, really proud of that one but was completely defenseless other than a splitting axe.

Now my new character already got most of the supplies, just need to find an M4 and military outfits.

Also learned to use a compass. Must be 1st person view to view it, 3rd person view can't use it. (Press Enter to change your view)

Yeah, I can vouch for fireaxe, 1 hit kill on zombies regardless where you hit them.

Since I got it, I just charge zombies in towns and village and 1 hit them so I can loot in peace.

Currently playing with an AMD 640 and a HD5750. Which is pretty minimum for this game.

How to bandage myself..

got bandage? right click and a menu will appear, choose bandage yourself.
no bandage? but got shirt? put the shirt on the ground and right click, choose turn to rags and use the rag to bandage yourself.

Open inventory and right click> use bandage.

Or put it to your quickbar, press the quick bar number, use mouse scroll to select action. Press your mouse mid button (scroll) to activate action. (your possible actions with the item is listed on the top left hand of your screen)

You can also tear your tshirt into rags to use as bandage if you have not found one yet.

How to change character?

Until you die, I think the character stays the same.

You can change your character in the starting screen and then set it as default, so it will stay the same whenever you die.

Does anyone own a Teamspeak server that LYN standalone players can use?

heheh, change the fov. The default fov is bad for first person and even in 3rd person for me but remember to put the fov slider to default when using scopes.

Lol, yeah I had the same pening feeling the first time I played it.

You have to adjust your field of view to max. Set your motion blur to zero.

I fiddle with this a few times and no more motion sickness. I find that as long as the game is smooth, its harder to get motion sickness and the field of view slider helps a lot.

Yes u need to buy the Dayz Standalone Early Acess/Alpha. U cannot download it for free unless u have Arma 2 u can download the DayZ mod.
