What kind of sickness? From zombie attack or eating rotten fruit? For zombie you should use alcohol tincture to clean your wound before bandaging it. For food poisoning im not sure. Try to eat the antibiotic or vomit yourself by drinking a lot, the sickness should go away but you need to eat to recover back your lost fluid.

First of all I need to know if you've eaten rotten food, drank disinfectant or have an infection. What does your character's status message say ? The one that normally says 'I'm stuffed' , etc. That's a good indication of what sickness you have.

By the way sorry that I had to leave so abruptly last night. My mom was getting kinda pissy because I was being noisy. How did the ops to rescue Joseph go ?

aiya guys, if you wanna enjoy dayz naturally, just roam freely and salvage any food u can find to survive that type. but i realise this playstyle is either too boring, or too difficult as food is scarce. Run 1 hour only can find rotton fruits. eat, get sick, and wait to die. Antibiotics are not normally be found at small towns which makes the game harder. Food is too scarce at small towns too.

If you wanna max gear <2 hours, run all the way to the north east airstrip and loot all the items in the military building, change server (because item respawn at different rate at different server) and voila, good to kill. best backpack in game, M4, best melee weapons, medications, etc etc all can be found here lol.

I never had any problem stocking up on food and water. Didn't even have to go to any airstrip/military camp. Didn't have to server hop. All you have to know is where to find what type of loot and how to get in and out safely even without weapons.

I only have 3 hours of experience playing the mod, and so far 77 hours of the game. The only common guide I refer to are status effects, basic navigation, and how to get "Healthy/Healing". The rest, I use common sense. Don't do in DayZ what you won't do in real life i.e. eat rotten fruits, charge head on into a big city not knowing if there's a lot of bandits looking for you, reveal yourself to strangers with weapons, or trust people you don't know.

While the game is still in alpha, it's a good time to practice good techniques and form survival habits so you can use it later on. Don't "server hop while they haven't fix the loot respawning/game is still in alpha" because once that is fixed, chances are everyone will have good gear and you don't know jack on survival methods and will get killed because you're too inexperienced in Chernarus life apart from opening doors and running in and out of barracks.

>research for yourself what kind of loot spawn in what kind of buildings (TEC, office, hospital, school, firestations, ATC, prison, barracks, barns, stables, construction sites, and houses)

>remember the colors and shapes of the houses because they spawn different kind of loot that usually ranges from clothes, small equipments and all the way to civilian-grade weaponries (yes, I've found Mosins and Izh43s and their attachments in small houses) and they usually are unlooted if you look for them in the inland regions because everyone is too busy looting Elektro, Cherno, and mil. bases anyways

>always scout a place first (especially high pop. areas) before entering. Opened doors and cleared zombie spawns are usually a sign telling you that people have already looted the place. Up to you to continue looting the place for leftovers. Risk vs. reward.

>always close the door behind you. Closed doors make people think the place is unlooted and there's no one else but him. It makes them lower their guard and be stupid, so if they try anything, you'll know it but he won't know about you. It keeps you in the upper hand. Keep your weapon raised in buildings and use 1PP. When entering doorways or moving into a corner around a wall, slice the pie. http://youtu.be/CEhYKl2sB8U And don't run in buildings FFS.

>if the zombies are too much of a hassle, don't fight them inside buildings. As long as they haven't fixed noclipping zombies, you can't see where they come from through the wall. It's also unsafe to use melee inside buildings as the melee hit detection is retarded. If you take them outside buildings, you can whack them with the axe and finish them quickly and safely without attracting attention as compared to using guns.

>wearing civilian clothes with bright colors decreases the chance of friendly players shooting you. Wearing masks, ballistics helmets and military fatigues will skew their perception into thinking you are a gear horder and quite possibly a bandit. He might interrogate you first but will blast your ass at the first sign of non-compliance. However, how you dress might not change the perception of a noob bandit looking for some easy action.

>before you go out venturing for trouble or whatever it is you do in Chernarus these days, get yourself a lot of food and a water pump location and try to achieve the "Healthy/Healing" status. Google it. It regens your blood, keeps you hydrated and energized for longer and gives other benefits that are likely to be introduced in the future.

>an M4 decked with all pristine attachments won't save you in times of starvation. A Mosin complete with a bipod, a compensator and an LR scope won't save you from thirst. You can't eat the .45 rounds, and neither can the .357 wet your throat. Make food and water your top priority, and expand your inventory capacity while you're at it so you can store them.

>don't hoard too much stuff with you. Be smart. Think about what you need first and foremost in any situations. Throw what's in excess, keep what's essential. However, bandages/rags are a top priority in all situations. It's a must have in every inventory.

That's all I can think of right now; all the very basics that are not in common beginner guides. These are what I practice myself. I'm not the kind of guy who regularly go out into the cities to look for some PvP action. All I do now is mostly go from town to town to collect supplies before venturing innawoods, hiking to castles and miscellaneous Chernarus landmarks. If you're not looking to play the way I play, then these tips are not for you. If you're looking to set a personal record on longest time of survival, than these should work at least decently.

If you're suffering from food poisoning, get charcoal tabs not antibiotic. Antibiotic & alcohol tincture have no effect in the game at the moment.

If you get sick status from applying alcohol tincture or anything (WITHOUT you actually ACCIDENTLY CONSUMING IT), the status will go away and it heals you. I dont know if they changed this after the new patch :|

PAAN today killed an unarmed bambi. That fellow surrendered with his hands up and he got shot right up.

PS: PAAN flagged as bandit.
