hi bassist, i realized you posted it in XDA too. i concur with them regarding the hsic and ebay.

what kernel are you using now? the thracemerin kernel is very close to stock if you are still using a stock ROM. you can revert to the original kernel with the stock kernel reset zip posted by motley or faux(motley  said his reset zip file is more thorough though) a kernel with hsic wakelock patch should reduce this wakelock. harsh and motley have them too, not sure about others

i am not sure why GoSMS is waking your device a lot, is there a setting that triggers this? mine didnt wake my device.

ebay is not playing nice from what i have read, you might want to check the setting and look for a setting regarding polling interval or similar, and use a longer interval instead.  other than that, your phone looks pretty normal. cleaner than mine tbh. so it might be because of ebay (400 plus wake up in 7 hours is a lot)
dont wait for the email, mine took two weeks before getting the email. i got the email after i went to DiGi. Just save the confirmation page and print it out. it should work.which is why the poster of the thread recommended using bootunlocker+stock recovery after rooting. would like to know what are you looking for from rooting? saya guna AppDialer by C.C.P cre@ions i hardly use my app drawer or folder now.

not an organiser though. it is like a T9 dialer, but for apps;. i got tired of organising my apps. (i have a lot of apps, and i have not fully restored my other apps from Titanium) so AppDialer works for me. smart launcher is good too. used to use a similar app called AppOrganiser

Was contemplating those neat tweaks available to rooted users.

Further reading on unlocking bootloader risks also reveal that malicious code can be planted to alter bootup sequence or boot certain apps to steal passwords, for example. But this risk usually applies to apps installed outside of play store or custom roms not adequately used or verified by the user community.

Looks like will stick to stock for now since the device is being used for work and online banking. Maybe get an 8gb or used 16gb to satisfy my craving for time being

i got my n4 2day from hotspot tongue.gif
for someone that cant decide between hotspot/digi and ipmart, just go for hotspot/digi as ipmart is US set and the price different is just RM150. Not worth to buy from ipmart IMO.

Did some checking on the thermal throttling issues. Apparently, Optimus G really has a much higher Thermal Throttle at 93C!

https://github.com/jonasl/LGE970_ICS_kernel...e/j1/board-j1.c (line 1985-1999)

CODE

static struct msm_thermal_data msm_thermal_pdata = {
.sensor_id = 7,
.poll_ms = 1000,
#ifdef CONFIG_MACH_LGE //sync with thermald-8064.conf's temperature. actually 60'C is too low to degrate CPU freqency to 918MHz
.limit_temp = 93, //later carefully tune it
#else
.limit_temp = 60,
#endif
.temp_hysteresis = 10,
.limit_freq = 918000,
};

By comparison, the default thermal throttle for Nexus 4 is way low at 60C. If you believe your Nexus 4 always slow down due to thermal throttle, you should change the ".limit_temp = 60" to say 75C. I think it is still perfectly safe at 75C.

Gotta compile the kernel yourself in order to make this work?

Oh didnt know bout it. Why some comes with unlock n some dont? By default it is lock i presume.

Anyway i think the best way is to not let unauthorised/unwanted person to get hold of our device by guarding it dearly.

yeap, which is why i use bootunlocker + stock recovery once i am done flashing my ROM+kernel. bootunlocker will re lock the bootloader. if someone want to gain access, unlocking the bootloader will wipe my device.

online banking apps are smart enough to remove cache files during exit, so i wont worry much about that. you are more likely to be hacked from connecting to a public non secure wifi than from a hacker gaining physical access to your device. most thieves are just going to steal your device and sell it for a quick cash, they won't go to the length of accessng your phone's data. most of the shops will just flash a stock image too.

However, if you are working in a sensitive environment whereby your device might be targeted for data theft, i suggest you to keep fully stock, bootloader locked as well. when installing for apps, look for permissions that those apps are looking for. your IT deparment might have more info on how to secure your device (encryption etc) if they are well versed on security. Else, you can Google for how to secure your device for a sensitive environment. i do advise you to assess their recommendation, not all websites provide good recommendation.

I just like to know my device is secure. i do not work in a sensitive environment, but pretty sensitive about my privacy. right now, i am rooted with CM. using bootunlocker(my bootloader is locked) + stock recovery + OpenPdroid + AFWall + Cerberus to secure my device.

Cerberus is a good anti theft app. paid app, but worth it i'd say.

open pdroid allows you to limit the access that apps request. i block FB's tonnes of unnecessary permision request

refer my reply above on common thieves. for average usercase, unlocking the bootloader won't cause you harm. are you working in a highly sensitive environment?

Even if we untick the usb debugging can stil, access adb command ?

Without adb, things will get complicated depending how badly I want data in your /data partition, which will contains keys for your Google/FB/Tweeter accounts, etc. Easiest to brute force your lock screen, dont need SIM PIN.

Worst case, I will unlock your phone, it may wipe your /data (some OEM phone actually will not wipe your /data) but attempt to recover the partitions later. It's just like recovering deleted files in ext4 FS in Linux.

Just don't lose your phone.
