currently my D7k i feel max iso around 800 only.. higher than that it gives noise... or sometimes maybe 1.2k... ><

Of course. You have to pay a premium price for primes that are sharp wide open. But even so, it's still usable.
It's more of the shallow dof that I'm worried off.
Sometimes the dof is less than 1cm. Move abit=GG

yea agreed... alot to learn on prime lens biggrin.gif

If the photo is nice, what's the problem with noise? It's not like you have a choice.

okay.. btw about ISO, normally you all do Auto ISO with a ISO cap , or adjust the ISO on the fly along with aperture and shutter speed?

what exactly are you photographing?

for me, I set Aperture first because that determines DOF. VERY important. If it's sports / activity related then I set Shutter speed first.

ISO would be last. Usually manual ISO but sometimes Auto ISO for convenience.

Used my friend's D7000 before and pumped the ISO up to 3200. For me it's still ok as I myself use ISO1600 max on my D90.

aiya, no one care how noisy your pics most of the time, unless you going to upload it in a very big size. Noise also you can't do anything.

Of course, same thing with flash, iso 3200 with flash and iso 3200 without flash will have a big difference.

You will be sacrificing a lot of fine details with the noise reduction, especially portraits, prepare for blurred eye lashes and eye brows, not to forget the hair.

With noise, details are still going to be there.

in the end, no one really cares about noise.

DOF too shallow/deep, motion blur...those will break your photos
