if u ask me i wud say put the fan front and down...
BUt , putting it sideways or front is suffiecient engough i have 2x 80mm FAN blowing thru my 2 hard disk... |

how bout static charge n such thing? does it harm HDD?

i dunt think it harms the hdd if its put vertically...
i think there are a few Casing which puts the HDD vertically.... |

ya lahh isee before man...sme brands i see hav but they are like server class and cost more than a high end gaming rig plus lcd screen.....easily 5000rm + bt huge and all steel so shipping is goona cost u a bomb too.... the case i like the height of a normal size door and the width is bout 4 feet....
also the silverstone temjin also mount hdd vertically |

Hmmm..... tight wif cable tight together small heatsink?? put sponge on the HDD PCB?? it will damage by ESD...... better take out form yr HDD.

erm.. currently my camera sucks at nite.... so i kinda have to wait for daylight ... haha....
mine is only 2x 80mm fan blowing thru the hard disk... no problem so far for me... |

wanna look at my solution ??
![]() ![]() 2x heatsinks sandwiched 3x HDD, i put thermal paste on the sides of the HDD. and a very low speed 92mm fan blowing in front.... it helps to lower the temperature a lot man...the heatsink is slightly warm only. |

it exceeds the normal CDROM size by 8mm in total....
if you have a clear space under the floppy area, putting this over there wont be any problem at all...... |

now that is wat i call hdd cooling man.. except its not easy to find a heatsink like dat... but nice one there man.... ..now people start posting pictures...

Nice Big Mac by Allngap but it doesn't do anything to cool the hottest part of the disk which is the motor and the chips on the pcb

i agree with sniper man.... if u touch the pcb when the hdd is runnig ..super hot man..... the "casing" of the hdd no need cooling actually...only the the pcb....
