Drive safe bro.. Happy Chinese New Year to all too!

Drove from kl to Penang last night, so many cars. Stop by 3 rest stops also no parking. Finally found one, and slept in car for an hour. smile.gif

I think is the gear knob console there, shift button? We can insert key there to to unlock gear lock if not mistaken.

Has anyone facing abnormal heat at the cup holder area up to the console (USB port area) ?

I have claimed the warranty at sc but they only manage to put a layer of insulator to reduce the heat at cup holder area. However, they cannot fix the heat near USB port area.

I can feel the heat after drive for more than 30mins, very obvious especially driving long distance. I can feel the heat when my left leg lean on the wall of the console.

Please advise. Thank u

not just anyone.. EVERYONE is facing the same problem with "milk bottle warmer" built-in feature as discussed previously..

because of our friends here said that it's normal for all Forte, I didn't managed to complain to SC which I afraid they will ripped out my whole centre
console plastics unnecessarily and in the future will have higher possibility of squeaking and rattling noise issue..
what did you claimed the warranty at SC ? all Forte also have this matter.. nothing can be done except adding insulation at cup holder area..

Firstly, I asked sc boss and he said to fix the whole thing cost me 600-800, I was shock!
Then, I saw someone post in forte club via FB, he has fixed the insulator in sc by warrant claim.

After that, I call to NAZA ask whether the issue is under warranty, the Naza staff said this issue already announce in bulletin (not sure where to find it). They can fix it under warranty.

They have arrange the nearest Naza sc call me to "recall" my car to fix the issue. However, I didn't go back to Naza sc for the claim.

Finally, I have decided to go back the sc I visit frequently bcoz of good workmanship.

After clarified, the staff told me the cup holder area is under warranty, fixing the insulator is FOC.
But the USB console that area doesn't cover in warranty. To fix the whole thing from the whole center console cost 600-800.

And now the cup holder is less warm but cannot fix completely due to the airbag control/component is under the cup holder, they cannot put too thick insulator to avoid the airbag component lost function..

Already few weeks, I don't hear any rattling sound.
They really did good job!

it's Shift Lock Release feature, not sure it's available for us or not..

QUOTE
"It's not actually a button. It's a cover that can be removed and underneath it is a button that when pushed, will allow you to shift gears without the engine running or foot on the brake or key in the ignition. Typically this button needs to be pressed with a car key or something of that general shape. Basically, even if your engine blows up or your battery dies or whatever catastrophe you could imagine, you will still be able to shift your transmission out of park and move your vehicle." http://www.chacha.com/question/what-is-the...-kia-forte-2010
