But if you flashed the new bootloader then you are fcuked  sweat.gif ....even TA can't reset it.... cool2.gif
*
New rom update DLL7 4.1.2 by default is with new bootloader? Means anybody who update & root
will not be able to use TA to reset binary count. Damn Samsung. doh.gif Anyway just have to wait for
Chainfire to fix this then. sweat.gif

Really? Well it is not an issue cos you can change back to old bootloader anyway.
*
in his case he is lucky because of the gps problem but what if he had the usb connector problem, cause the only way to downgrade to old bootloader is via adb command using usb....

yes the DLL7 by default will install the new bootloader if you update using KIES or OTA. That is why I updated using Mobile Odin just to be safe. I am sure tha Chainfire is cracking his head to overcome this issue.

I am still on old bootloader but with the new 4.1.2

Yes, it's fine without registration. But for the anti-theft, u need to register. u can monitor multiple phone and pc with just one account.

The battery life and quadcore performance really worth the RM1899.
Well, the screen size, still acceptable with longer view.
*
What I meant was, RM1899 is the price I paid for Xperia S. And still, I felt bitter that the screen is smaller than his Note 1 wink.gif

That is a good one. I wonder if simply removing the 2 bootloader files from the TAR before flashing via PC Odin might also do the same trick? Or uncheck the Bootloader option when flashing via PC Odin?

Seems this:

Using TA 2.37 helps

If your mum intends to become a flashoholic, then no whistling.gif

If she is using it because of her eyesight, and is only ever using the phone and sms functions, plus maybe fb and instagram, then go ahead.

HAHA, okok. thanks!! I'm a flashaholic, but she's not keen on letting me root her phone. The seller said even if we unroot also Samsung technicians will know wo. If they know, means warranty void lo sad.gif I just want to root for her so that can use TB only. Actually will the warranty be voided if we unroot?

Technically your warranty is void, but it seems Samsung usually turns a blind eye to this. There is a hidden counter which cannot be reset by any current hack.

You do not need root to backup some items. If she has a gmail account, use SMSBackup+ or any similar software to backup all sms, calls, mms to gmail. Sync the phone contacts to gmail as well. That should solve backup for her intended use cases.

If she plays games and wants to backup the savegames, these are supposed to work for backing up unrooted phones:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091047

I haven't tried them as I'm already rooted.

I am not sure about that as I never use PC ODIN before.
The latest TA 2.55 can fixed your OS status to be Normal instead of Modified. If you can live with the status being flagged as Modified then TA 2.37 is ok then.
