QUOTE(antt00 @ Jan 23 2013, 05:43 PM) Actually i see the changelist of the MA5 firmware is the same as LL7. So dunno if really got changes or not. Or just a late release by Thailand. Thailand already had the DLL7 same as ours and this is the new firmware for them. If update using KIES it is only 37MB in size, so may be Samsung had done something for the battery drain issue. This post has been edited by tot31: Jan 23 2013, 05:48 PM |

QUOTE(antt00 @ Jan 23 2013, 05:55 PM) To be frank i do not have battery drain with LL7. I suspect maybe problem with kernel or something else. So maybe the MA5 is LL7 repacked with new kernel. if the update size is only 37MB, then may be they had recompile a new kernel, other than that remains the same I guess. |

QUOTE(joytest @ Jan 23 2013, 06:04 PM) The snake is simply an animal protecting its turf. It can be left well alone. The ifag is (IMHO) somewhat uninformed and bought a con sold by a company selling old wine in new wineskins. The 3rd item on your list is likely the most dangerous eh? Propagation of cons is a very bad thing. Ok so we should eliminate the most dangerous things first. |

Just realize, when ever I am on data, when receiving calls, it will get disconnect and will resume back after the calls end. This was not happening on 4.1.1..
Just half way through downloading Thai's MA5 firmware and got disrupted because of a call...600MB wasted.... |

QUOTE(eternity4av @ Jan 23 2013, 08:09 PM) it's been a while i flashed custom rom, with my desire hd & galaxy tab 7.7, couldn't really recall what would be the 1st step if everything is from stock, problem is i couldn't let go my note to root, as my fav game LINE POP will not work on rooted device. So far my phone is rooted with stock recovery. you can always root using CF Auto Root by Chainfire if you are already updated to 4.1.2. If you still on 4.1.1, the easiest route would be using the ExynosAbuse from Chainfire too. Then you can update to 4.1.2 using Mobile Odin. By this way your old bootloader will be preserved if you are concern about warranty as you can reset the counter by using Triangle Away.on the other hand, do we need to root 1st in order to install recovery? which recovery should i opted for? TWRP? the tradition CWM? or those CWM touch ones? can the rooting process go through mobile ODIN instead of PC ODIN, because I'm using MAC. I think I'll stop my questions here, & I'll shall post my further inquiries once I reach this step. LOL. Sorry for lengthy post. Please advise me ya.. QUOTE(eternity4av @ Jan 23 2013, 08:47 PM) @XaViErX, means as long as I have custom recovery, specifically TWRP, means I'm good to go with those custom ROMs am I right? You must download the firmware before hand prior on using the Mobile Odin. Just a head up in case you forget. If you are using a custom recovery, you can't set your status to Normal in the system. If that is not your concern then just go ahead. yeah, I'm still on 4.1.1, I'll try by using your method. Thanks. This post has been edited by tot31: Jan 23 2013, 08:53 PM |
