Although losing out to F10, I have to say I find the image quality from the A700 quite surprising.. They managed to pull off lower noise levels despite using the same chip and a smaller sensor.

Kudos to Canon. notworthy.gif

However, I have a feeling the new F30 will redefine the meaning of low noise for compact cams and other manufacturers like Canon will be left chasing their heels again. laugh.gif

I must say, I am rather impressed with the A700! Let's hope this new sensor makes it into all the new digicams coming out! biggrin.gif

Some sample photos taken by the F30 have surfaced. Unfortunately though, they look disappointing. vmad.gif Fuji seemed to hv opted for heavy noise reduction resulting in loss of detail and watercolour-ry pics. Purple fringing also looks to be a problem. cry.gif

Hopefully it was just post-production and they have since improved it.

More sample pics are out. Here's a discussion at dpreview.com comparing sample images between Canon SD700 and the F30.

I think the quality is ok. Noise reduction is heavy handed but at least it gives the option of ISO3200 (which is unheard of in any other compact). Although some may prefer lesser NR and allowing the option to remove the noise on our own using software to retain the details, I think the high NR is generally more acceptable to the masses who would like decent prints right out the camera.

I won't rule out the image quality of the F30 yet. I think it would still edge the F11. Will wait for a proper review to be out before concluding.
