Personally, i like FF6 the most! Fun although 2D!!! rclxms.gif
The second is FF8, it's simple and beautiful wub.gif
Then comes the legendary FF7, i can't stand it's graphic since i'm a late player of this version, but the story line and the game play captured me... rclxm9.gif

All FF music are SUPERB!!! Thanks 2 Nobuo Uematsu and other composers notworthy.gif

when i play ff7 it's graphic is the best in the industry and you cant see it in any other games........although that i prefer ff8 cause it have a not too complicated yet interesting storyline and its gameplay is unique.

I think the question should not be answered by any players that have not played all the Final Fantasy titles because it is suppose to compare all the FF titles, right?

Anyway, the real BEST and LEGENDARY Final Fantasy is SNES Final Fantasy 6 (J) or also known as Final Fantasy 3 (English).

It is the mother of all RPGs because of the excellent storyline, detailed character development, and it redefines what RPG gaming should be like.

Agreed VIII is absolutely RUBBISH. The only redemption is Faye Wong's song. The story sucks, the lead character Squall is a jerk and i wonder why the heroine falls head over heels in love with the SOB. Not to mention, the battle system using the guardian is absolutely annoying and time wasting and if i remember correctly, no way to skip the cutscene everytime u perform a guardian spell.

It just plain SUCKS.

IMO, the best FF was FF7. Others worth mentioning, in no particular orders, FFX, FFX-2, FF9, FF6.

We have had so many same threads of this topic in Lowyat forum before, didn't we? Or am I just having a bad Deja Vu..

Anyway, best FF in my opinion will definately be FF6 and FF7.

Worst is FFX-2 (except the part where the Charlie's Angels wannabes playing at the hot spring in Bikinis).

I've played I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, Tactics, Tactics Advance.

My preferred choice:
1. FFVII definitely. Probably the best FF based on votes from gamers around the world else they wont make a movie based on it.

2. The one with Celes... VI I think.

3. IX, the one with Zidane cause the storyline is good, the color is vibrant.

VIII is cool but X is not and X-2 is a very girly (tukar baju) game. Meantime, Tactics rocks!! They should make more games like FFT and FFTA.

I'd buy PS3 if they remake FF7... Seen the technical demo. Why they didnt take FF8/FF9/FF10 to demo? Cause FF7 is DA BEST!

hey, FF1 till FFX-2 is the best!!!started from a humble and going to bankrupt company, squaresoft hired sakaguchi and made the final fantasy as their last game but in the end this game saved the company from bankruptcy...from tat day on squaresoft continue to make final fantasy and make it a series!i started ff6 then to ff7 back to ff5, ff1,ff2,ff3,ff4 then ff8, ff9,ffx,ffix then ffx2.i really played them all as i used to live in japan....

the best music is ffx, best game play is ff9, best customization is ff7, best story is ff6, best character design is ff8, new game play style is ffx2

others square products is good as well especially chrono trigger!!!let's not 4get kingdom hearts!!!

unfortunately sakaguchi has left squaresoft and build his own team called "mist walkers'. all his former assistant went to mist walker including Nobuo Uematsu, Kensuke Tanaka and Amano...sad...

Will Play : 10-2,12
Not interest : 11 (MMORPG... not a FF style)

Easiest : 8 (No need to level up, ask GF to do the rest)
Hardest : ... I really dont know, just go training and get secret item and win it.
Crapiest : 1 (too straight ahead)
Best : 8 (simple gaming, nice story, nice CG, nice music)
Sad Character : Aris (nice person died in the middle of the game)
Best villain : Kafka (this clown laughs a lot, happy go luck!)

Hope : Remake FF8

No best FF for me as I haven't played quite a number of FFs (I-VI), and there are ongoing FFs as well. I'll just comment a little..

FFVII: First FF to play, it was really memorable. Pretty neat story, character well developed throughout the story and materia system was good. I guess the only complain I have is your party members 'merging' with you...it just bothers me everytime I see that.

FFVIII: Was even more excited when I got the game (shortly after VII). Was blown away by the awesome CGs and it definitely became my favourite. Draw system was annoying at times, but other elements just made up for it. Awesome music as well, one of the best in FF series.

FFIX: I don't know, maybe it's me, but I didn't pay much attention to this game, just swept through it and left it aside. Many people say it's good cause it IS Final Fantasy, but I couldn't care less. Meh, even the main character wasn't appealing (yes, Zidane).

FFX: This one got my attention as well...heck, I saved and waited for 4 years before I could buy my PS2 to play this! And it didn't disappoint me...loved the battle system (changing party members), awesome blitzball mini-game, nice sphere grid, and also a pretty interesting storyline despite the many loopholes. Oh, the music was great as well.

FFX-2: Was interested to see what happens to Yuna and Tidus, but I wasn't too pleased with the outcome. Don't get me wrong, the dress-spheres was a nice addition, but somehow something was missing. Despite being one of the weaker FFs in my list, FFX-2 had the best PC IMO.

FFXII: Although I'm not done with this game yet, but I see a vast improvement in CG and characters' expression, which is good of course. Can't comment too much as I'm only 5 hours into the game, but I can see that the story is promising.

I still can't believe that people can overlook FFVIII's many MANY flaws. Boring main character with astonishingly inconsistent behaviour, VERY lousy character development (I seem to remember a 25 min basketball court scene which developed the WHOLE danged party, which was practically the only development we got), the absolutely glacial pace, the total lack of presence of a proper villian, love in space, boring world map, infuriating random encounter rate on world map, annoying draw system...etc. Damn I could go on. tongue.gif Conclusion? It would have made a fine 20-25hr game. At normal FF length, its rubbish. tongue.gif wink.gif

I think I'll have to say ff7 cause the extremely nice story line and the coolest bad guy/villain. Then followed by ffx international which took me so long just to beat penance and great battle system too.Followed by ff8 cause the part where we can fight GFS. then lastly ff9.I haven't played 11 and 12 yet though.Waiting for the english release for 12 but 11 no money to play.As for the final fantasies before that i guess i would say ff6 was the best among the 2ds ffs since there's an Atma weapon there.

best FF ever - FFVII

best storyline - FFVI

best ending - FFIX

oh, one more thing. FFX deserve a small credit for being the only one of the many FF series to put a bad ending ~ a very risky move yet a very satisfying ending. why did i say that...aeris died on the very first disc..but tidus died right in the end of story...that is one sad ending

i am just not sure how to put it. so, i decided to understand that he 'died'. because in my opinion; tidus came from the dream world...he only exist in the dream world. and when they defeated sin, he will be send back to the dream world (thus he woke up). well, you're right...he is not alive in the first place. nevertheless, the 'bad' ending is very nice..

i think no comment on FFIX...for me, though FFIX adopt a typical fairy tale ending...it's done in a very nice way. especially when somebody thought zidane is finished and saw garnet's dull expression during the coronation. and thanx for supporting, tsubasa.

oh, about the aeris thing that kueks said...i should've said '..aeris from FFVII died in the first disc..'. my mistake.

FF7 has one of the more original stories

ff9 fails miserably

ffx-2 wins only because of the secret ending which you get after completing 100% of the story, otehr than that it fails

i am not sure, but certainly Hinorobu Sakaguchi has went off to set up his own company. The last i heard, he is developing RPG for Xbox360.

if i am not mistaken, he's in charge for stories in Final Fantasy Series (FFI to FFVIII). as for FFIX, i think he's not officially in charge but maybe he's involve in monitoring only. FFX onwards does involve him anymore..too bad..

i dont know about the future of final fantasy in next gen console though one thing is pretty sure; much killer graphics and FMVs. but still, most of old timer gamers weights graphics far less than new generation of gamers. in simpler words, final fantasy is actually losing its essence quite fast. for me, what keeps it to be on the top is innovative and revised battle system, graphics. storyline is basically arent that good anymore.

for example, in FFIX. the twist of the story; (if there is any) zidane is actually one of superior genome that should be merging gaia with terra. if you remember this, it's just like watching a movie with a typical inner conflict of the hero.

but in FF6 for example, the conflict between characters and the their inner conflicts leads to many twists of the game. and because of the well developed characters, the whole twists leaves you with the cliffhangers..naturally made the story itself interesting. ok, maybe no one will be playing FF6 anymore nowadays, but for those who remember the experience, it's one precious experience.

sorry for quite a lengthy post, i just want to share a bit of my opinion.

uematsu signing off too? AFAIK he's still in charge of FFXII music. of what i read, they were trying to find the most suitable music for FFXII, which directly cause delay to the game..

and i just dont believe that FFXII music is kinda dull..even for the battle theme which usually in high spirited tone..

its really sad that FFIX doesn't get much attention from people here,it has nice and and romantic storyline,ATB battle system, great music composed by Nobuo Uematsu(sigh miss alot of it....the two chocobo therm,Loss of Me,Feel My Blade, and etc),and the graphic was great for a game that already 6 years old...
the main reason i think it is not as popular is that..."hey,where's the cool main character like Cloud go?"

i agree to you, FFIX is not as popular among FF fans themselves but their songs are most memorable as if they were matching each special scene with each theme. i noticed that the basic notes are from memory of life but each of them played at different tempo, instrument etc.

i once heard that this game was rumored to be closing of 'old' final fantasy...before giving birth to 'new gen' final fantasy. square take many elements of older final fantasy and put it into FFIX, battle with 4 charachters, allocation of jobs class, even right to battle theme. one more nostalgic thing is...the art director is done by the..hm, i forgot his name..but certainly not tetsuya nomura..

furthermore, what made FFVII so popular is they are making milastone for other RPGS with stunning graphics, summons, FMVs and all. for older fans who played from NES editiion of FF, the breakthrough is really nice in addition of good characters and story development. FFIX in the other hands, bring almost nothing new to the fans who are hungry for greater graphic quality etc. thus decide it to be sux.

one quick conclusion...though how many say it sux, i still think FFIX is one hidden masterpiece...maybe it's not that great to replace FFVII popularity but it's nostalgic for an old timer like me (and everybody who think it's great). it's not that too late to play it (it's PS game) but surely, it's like rewinding the history; playing SNES games while many other enjoying newer FFVII on the playstation. dont look at the shell, but what's inside.

..or maybe it's just me

the concept of FF is what you see inside FF. the menu bar, commands, game system and if not too much to say, even the storyline have a general similarity.

it still depends on how you evaluate them. though i still insist that it's good...very good. but it was usually overwhelmed by crappy graphics. you wont believe how hard to play a game with crappy 2d graphics nowadays. even a guy here (i think it's kueks) have a hard time playing FFVII; and that's only a 1997 game. just imagine FFVI is years behind it... but i think there's a reason...everybody has it.

i nonetheless, pray for you on your way to complete it and good luck.

but still it is hard for some people..especially in the era which graphics quality come first and the game itself later - even the game manufacturer arent making very good games nowadays.

if somebody could care less about the graphics...i think there'll be more gamers hanging around to old games rather than newer ones... tongue.gif

well, i am complete japanese illeterate..i guess the translation is all left for me. i cant stop thinking if i continue playing the japanese version, i wont be enjoying the game because when the english version is out, i already knew the work around of the game (no challenge). but it's hard to resist it when i already have the translation at hand..

one exception though...FF6, FF7 and FF9...i played both version without a fuss..maybe i can go play like that again in FFXII. oh btw tsubasa...what did you think of the game until this point of game? with a little japanese knowledge, i guess the story wont be a total loss for you, right?

FFXII tends to focus more on the chaotic world of Ivalice rather than only focusing on the story of the main character(Vaan) like what many previous FF series done....
example, the current cutscene are focusing on Ashe,Baflear(did i spell it wrong?),Brask(again did i spell it wrong?) cuz they're the ones that knows more about the world and discussing ways on how to defeat the Achedis Empire

that sounds a bit like FF: Tactics, except in FFXII, they had a premade characters. or, should i say, Vaan is like a protagonist who moved along Ashe, Balfear (and others) story? a story about defeating achedis is too shallow to be a final fantasy..though i say, it still possible if there's many twist in the process..

how many hours had you spent in the game?

that is quite a number of months...i wonder what they're up to. raising anticipation, improving the game itself, marketing, supply problems...

oh well, i don't mind waiting~if the end products worth the wait. i think, i'll just play the japanese version. if it's that good, i wont mind playing it twice, just like i did with FFVII.

and who knows..i'll get hang of japanese because of playing FFXII.. tongue.gif

My favourite = FF6, love the bg music and all the "new" stuffs (during the snes, megadrive era). trully among all the FF series, I love ff6's bg music the most.

Crappiest = FF9, FFX international. I believe there's improvement in US/UK version of FFX, coz the characters in FFX annoyed me the most, especially when yuna doing the "uh uh, umh, umh".... annoying... FF9, really nothing special about the game, not the best storyline, not the best graphics(seriously on PS1 era, FF8 beats FF9 hands down), not the coolest characters, music is not worth mentioning.

FFTactics, played twice and tried something new and I like new things.

touche...

oh well, it is ppl POV..which i dont really care and nothing to be cared about. unless you're attending a meeting..ppl opinion arent meant to be ignored..rite?

anyway, i posted something before but the damn connection break it and voila..it's gone. i have this thought a while ago. many ppl says FFVII is one of the best (though there are others says no).

well, i am not going to discuss which is the best but the factor what made ppl think that. in my opinion, maybe it's because ppl play is able to play over and over again. maybe it's cause-effect or paradox but to in my view, not all FF (and other games) are worth time and effort to be replayed again.

but just like FF6 and FF7, I lost count on how many times i played that game ~ that i even dont care keeping my save files. but it doesnt happen to all FF that i played. FFX for example, managed only to finish once..and dont even have the desire to repeat it. and there are reasons to drive players to play the game though i must say that it is general; it could be many things.

i dont know about you guys, but i was a little taken when i saw a post that says he finished FFT couple of times. well, it is quite rare to find ppl praising FFT.

but again, this is my personal view..who knows if somebody are experience the very same thing.

FFX is fun....if you play the international version.....
it has DARK AEON....nope,its not the dark aeon you fight inside sin....this dark aeon is hard and challenging...if the AGI of your party is not enough for you to make the 1st move...then too bad for you its a game over....lol
after all the dark aeon removed from Spira....their soul combine and become(I forgot his name) the most OUCHY BOSS in the game....

i dont think i fought the dark aeons but i i fought one of the optional boss in the game..kinda like weapon. his hp/damage is massive, ridiclously fast but i handle it quite well. not a very long fight (around 30minutes) but it tough fight, lot tougher than the final boss..

you fight it in a place called omega dungeon right?
if so yes, there are 2 type of omega weapon, one is at the end of the 1st section of omega dungeon the second are at the end of it...

*btw final boss is not that tough...if you can defeat even one of the dark aeon of spira(that means you can hit already 99999 per hit) you kill it in a single hit....XD

i dont remember quite well but even gamespot rated this so low (for me..below 7 is not quite appealing) but surprisingly the crowds (users) voter much higher marks. nevertheless, i became aware of the presence of fans but if somone recommends it, it might be good.

who knows...i didnt plan to play Radiata Stories (the score's is quite fair but that is enough to bring bad impression) but by someone's recommendation, i tested it and i find out that i love it.

For my case I only played FF7- FFX-2. I start playing the FF9 first, FF8 then FF7. My choices is based on those I've played.

The best storyline is FF9 for me. This is the first FF i play blush.gif The only complain is wth must they make the character so short? Vivi is an exception. He is perfectly fine being short tongue.gif

The best gameplay - FF8/ FFX cannot decide sweat.gif reason - easy too understand tongue.gif

FF7 is ok-ok for me. I like it but not as much as the 2 above.

I dun like FFX-2. Like some ppl here said; tukar2 baju game, abit girly for me. Main characters all girls. Honestly I try not to play FFX-2 in front of my family tongue.gif . Some more they all like wearing skimpy clothings really doh.gif The only reason I play is because I want to know the story. i couldn't get the 100% thing. Lazy to start over again.

Best FF hero: I think squall is quite ok except that he becomes way too 'jiwang' later in the game

Best FF villain: Sephiroth. Really have the macho look tongue.gif

Best heroine: Rinoa

Best character: I like Auron. I like his skills and way thumbup.gif

Worst character: Dunno.... If I can think of someone I'll wrote it down

Annoying character: I think Zell is quite annoying at times but he is very strong in the game wink.gif

Favourite FF song: FF8 eyes on me. But if overall I like the the FF9 music more icon_rolleyes.gif

best-ever villain:sephiroth

heck, this i truly agree upon..theres no other than him..if u play kingdom hearts 2,notice his ultra long sword when cloud approaches him =.=" length is 2times cloud's sword...

to me its ff10>ff9>ff7>ff6>ff8,decending order..heh

Well, for ff7 the characters is quite tall. Only in short movies and gameplay they look short. FF9 however they make the characters all short. Even the posters wink.gif

Skimpy is bad for me. Plus their dress doesn't look that nice anyway especially riku's clothes. Her dressing looks better in FFX. At time also they act like charlie's angel really annoys me and I hate charlie's angel to begin with tongue.gif

For dressing I think FF7 and FF8 look best. Btw Tifa really chun in FF7:AC thumbup.gif wub.gif tongue.gif

@tsubasa: About sephiroth is he really made himself look good with his super long katana sort of like samurai look. He is macho before he become bad guy! laugh.gif Later on really, really evil sweat.gif Really sad to see Aeris die...

charlie's angles huh..that is the right word of putting it.. biggrin.gif

anyway, it is so surprising to me that being short and tall does have effect on a quality of video game. after giving a thought, that is can be considered a factor after all. just imagine a beautiful character in a film is acted by someone not-so-beautiful...it'll be less appealing right?

i wonder, how can i play FFVI in the first place (if i have a thought that Celes is just a few pixel of scrappy animation..)

That's why I never really give a thought about the voice actor anyways.Dowan to imagine also laugh.gif As long as they did the job well, fine with me. And yeah, rikku have one annoying voice too doh.gif I guess I don't like rikku that much...

btw I heard that the Japanese audio is much more better than the english version...is it true? I'm not surprise if it is. Those japanese ppl are very good at voice acting.

Some of them do have pretty face eg. Ayumi Ito - play Tifa's voice icon_idea.gif

hehe, i watched the japanese ones...never watched the dubbed. but, i never liked watching dubbed version of any show.

i wonder why square-enix bothered putting the english voice when the can just shorten the translation by just doing the texts and leave the japanese voice intact. in many games i played, i only came 2 games that came with the original japanese voice (and english texts).

well, never noticed that before. Furthermore, Yuffie's appearance is too llittle to be noticed~as well as everybody else. IMHO, Advent Children could've been a lot better. It's nice and it closes the story FFVII never be able to finish but I am a bit disappointed to wait so many years only to have a story so shallow.

but, Last Order is suprisingly good despite nearly zero publisity and all. it takes a short time frame of FFVII that never had been told in details and it turn out good. maybe, advent children should be a series/mini series.

no, i dont think it's out yet. however, i dont own PSP and never will..heading out for NDS. PSP games are confusing and does not really interest me. i am looking more casual games which i can spend time on but does not require commitment. because i have my commitment for PS2 games.

but with FFIII coming DS, it seems squareenix is trying to re-enter their own platform (nintendo) market. good enough..i am sure, many nintendo owner are hungry for FF like in the old days.

i vote for FF10... the story / love / gameplay are equal.. feels like a remix of ff7 (story), ff8 (love) and newly design of gameplay.

wanna vote FF7 but cloud is too cool lah... i donno is there any love in between cloud and tina... or they just friend?

donno....

not really...i think i started to noticed that when RPGs start having intensive voice over dialogues. tends to make a scenes longer. in the old days, i just speed up my texts because i always speed read.

and, if you want to spend more time to play, help yourself by strolling around dungeons and collect those special items, final weapons etc. it will be noticably longer that the total time you spent watching the scenes...

that's why i withdraw..they are so damn fast that even my superspeed Tidus cant reach them in time. even if he did, just one blow wont kill any of the sisters. furthermore, that darn bee attack will kill just anybody hit by it (instead of hit so many 1s in aeon form, the dark ones blow as much 9999 per hit! man, that insane)

Penance is the hardest boss in FF series.
I defeated it but took me about an hour or more.

For me, all the FFs are great.
I played FF6 till FFX but not FFX-2, impatiently waiting for the FXII.

there's many arguments over FF5..some says it's just plain thrash while others claimed to be one of the best. I...never got the chance to play it (in emulator era, i only find japanese roms - in ps era, never found any despite the release of CT, FF4 and FF6). now, when i own a DS (yahoo!), i am holding back because i am not so sure to play it now. but i'll play FFIII for sure when it is out.

maybe few of the reason is the loose storyline in the beginning...terrible music (phsycodelic tones...eewww) and overly girlish (b****y-to be frank)...BUT the real story picks up very late and last only about a quarter of the game (i spend more time levelling up my dresses power and characters). however, it has the nice endings (both are, i am glad to get that ending after enduring all chill to the spines thingys..).

it seems to it..yes. treasure hunting while yuna keep hoping she'll find a lead to find tidus. well, not exactly. they were hunting spheres that may give them a lead to him (tidus)...hmm, that's exactly why i say this game is pretty loose in the first place..

Well, some of the reason are...
1. Story not strong enough sad.gif Feel like all the journey is wasted shakehead.gif
2. Tukar2 baju - not my thing. Feel like playing barbie doll pulak doh.gif
3. Their dresses are fugly. No matter how sexy if their dress is fugly also no use yawn.gif
4. They all act like charlie's angel and I hate Charlie's angel rolleyes.gif

I'll post them if I remember more of it tongue.gif

Btw who's that girl in your sig? Really comel wahahaha tongue.gif laugh.gif

That's why, story not strong enough sad.gif I don't mind if they end it at FFX. FFX-2 brings too much a of false hope for those who play it just to know the story, that includes me sad.gif I think that they shouldn't even do the project itself at the very first place. I was looking forward FFX-2 at first only to found out it is such a turn off...

IMO they should bring along FFXII earlier, and then they can bring FFXIII to ps2 instead of ps3 thumbup.gif

i agree you, especially in the last sentences. In the last console (psx) we have three whole new FF series...why on earth they didnt to the same for ps2? of course, it's not a very strong arguments, if FFXI and FFx-2 included. however, FFXI is an expensive FF ever..being online and all (and i am not that keen wasting money on online games..especially when the server sucks and monthly fee is expensive)

well, not that square-enix will hear my (and our) ranting..

ps: i am speechless on the avatar...it just turn out how many times i take the test, it had given me the same answer...sigh. not so cool huh?

whoa...i havent figured that so many voted FF5...maybe it's because of the battle system/game design or the story.

i just knew FFT advance is totally different story..now playing it..and FF5 is that good...i will go and hunt it down..

For me , it will be

FF8 > FFX > FF7 > FF9

FF8 is my first FF game and it's the best IMO ,story and gameplay wise . TBH , I've finished FF8 for around 7~8 times . ^^

ok, i got this link from a friend. i haven't followed the E3 news (dang..busy this whole week) so i doubt the reliability of this report. anyway, some of the release ie crisis core, FF:chronicles are well known to be released on their respective platforms but FFXIII news is really...shocking.

bogus or not, hey, it doesnt hurt to read them. if it is true...then rejoice ps3 and ff fans! because squareenix had just annouce a game for the future ps3. for me, hehe..i havent decided on next gen console yet...

FFXIII looks cool graphics though i still doubt it's the in game screenies. man, i drool thinking over it...but ps3 is way too expensive (and not that worth). added to the blu-ray disc price..whoa, twice strike on the price and we consumer are the scapegoats.

oh well, the good thing is FFXII release date is moved on oct instead of..nov. not that much i think but still, it is a good thing (or bad...who knows)

squareenix does have played a big role as a marketing tool to Sony Playstation division. with fans all over the world, the sale of PS3 is pretty much guaranteed despite the price tags.

all the mediocre ppl (like me) only be able to wait until the price go down.

You're not the only one that has to wait for the price tongue.gif but you're right SquareEnix's games does play a pivotal role in Sony's marketing plan. We've all come to grown and known to games like Final Fantasy on the Playstation. Whatevery ppl might say, we'll eventually get the system anyways. Doesn't matter whether you get it now or later and furthermore Playstation has already become such a huge household name whereby none can go by not noticing it or not wanting to know about it.

WOW..Final Fantasy XIII GREAT!!!! COOL!!!! AMAZING!!!.. Don't doubt it... believe the hype.. those are the in-game screenies.. PS3 are capable of such graphics.. haven't you see the Killzone and Metal Gear Solid 4-Guns of Patriots in game graphics.. They are unbelievable and a feast for the eyes..

Can't wait for this bad boy to be released.. ehehehehehe...although its quite expensive though.. with the release price at about USD500 almost RM 2000/-..

Anyway.. I'm looking forward for PS3 release in November.. thumbup.gif

talk about the controller, Sony seems to be 'trying' to add more feature to the controller. what i heard, it has tilt sort like sensor that enables player to tilt the controlled object. well, i see that it has some use in few games.

anyway, yes...FFXIII does look tempting but the games market for PS3 is still vague. for a FF fan, it is a torment since I feel like i still have to play it no matter how bad it get (i was a little disappointed with the release of FFX and FFX-2...and pretty much vowed that i wont go for FFXIII) but Squareenix did a fine job tempting their fans.

well, like all the mediocres have said...wait until the price go down and then grab it. i take the same approach for my PS2...well, end up in a piles of RPG (that's a nightmare) and pretty scarce time to finish them all.

well, FFXIII is the most sophisticated FF i ever see...well, still vague how sophisticated it is..the screenies tell a lot of story...but maybe too little for the eyes to decided.

FF13 looks to be very good with the battle animations that are so fluid looking. Can't judge that early though , the footage they shown was just a min or two.

I'm also quite lazy when playing RPG laugh.gif I usually up the character I used most and make them very strong. Other chracters in the party will become very weak when later the game doh.gif

As for FF13, it looks encouraging though. Since main character is a female, I hope they won't do the crappy things like what happened in FFX-2. Btw, I won't be getting it soon though. When the price is around the 800-900 region maybe I'll buy it.

Bought my ps2 for 1.4k. Now if sell also cannot get more than 500 sweat.gif

Sqaureenix is releasing FFVI advance on the GBA soon..sept if i am not mistake. so, those who have GBA's might as well check it out. otherwise, get zsnes emulator, get the ROM and play it while hoping you'll last with those 2D graphics. but for those who dont mind, i guess there'll be no problem since the story is good...VERY good. the game is quite long itself...

hehe..well, it has a cutscene but too bad..not a whole terrific cutscene except for the PSX version released around 4-5 years ago. but...if you follow the story and have a strong imagination it wouldn't be a problem.

they didnt mention any FMV in the GBA version..oh well, not that relevant since the movie itself wont fit in a catridge..but check out the news about FFVI advance. who knows they are really cramping those movies into the catridge.

oh, you might want to check on this link...might not be everybody's favourite but hey, it's news rite?

The problem with DS is the price sweat.gif The graphics seems like slightly better than the GBA, the only thing that it has to offer is the... touchscreen feature? which is not that useful IMO...

Btw I saw the ahem version of FF7: Dirge of Cerberus for PS2 in some shop at my place. Have you guys play it before? It doesn't seems to be RPG to me...

hi, i m super hardcore ff fan.. played 1,2,3 (3 is basically same like 6),4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10-2.. i have played more than 10 times of ff6,7,8..

I really like 7.. 6 is also good.. then goes 10.. I have also looked on polls at gamefaqs ( It was long time ago before advent children released and announced, so I cant remember well either gamefaqs or gamespot).. majority votes for 6 then goes X or 7.. looked at these three, 7 got incomplete ending (X also but it already got X-2), so most of fans already predict that there will be sequences of FFVII and then, advent children was announced later. so if looked at everything, FFVII is defintely the best coz it got lots of sequences which made the game(s) n story complete. This thread also does not mention FF (games /movies or both of them ) so movies should be taken into acc, rite?. rclxm9.gif icon_idea.gif

FFVII rox~ cool.gif

what's so incomplete about X's ending? The aeon's were gone, the Fayth stopped dreaming and Tidus ceases to exist. Thats it. I dont see any loose threads, unless you want to count that final post credits sequence of Tidus swimming (which should never have been included imo)

well, usually ppl see FFX is unfinished because of that simple credits though i think if it's not there, FFX would end pretty nicely (a happy ending for everyone, bad ending for Yuna). oh well, maybe SquareEnix was planning the coming of FF-X2 altogether at that time..

Actually, having Tidus are not dissapear and swimming up at the last part makes me happy, having Yuna remembering Tidus that feeling was sweet, I'll never acknowledge the existence of X-2 mad.gif

I always knew SE would never have had the guts to totally kill off Tidus. tongue.gif

Burga - who likes X2 anyway, but thinks the normal ending is best without Tidus returning.

Nope, there are 5 things to do before you get the extra fmv ending of him coming back. Do the quests inside out and you get an extra post credits uber crappy ingame cinematic.

If I'm not mistaken FF7 sold for the most copies in the world including PSX and PC release.

If FF7 is not the best, then:
1. Why got Advent Children (based on FF7).

2. Final Fantasy Last Order (also based on FF7). Any movies for any other FF titles?

3. Another game featuring Vincent Valentine - Dirge of Cerberus. Why dont they make a game based on Wakka or maybe Rikku, Yuna, Lulu lesbianism?

4. Then Cloud make special appearance in Final Fantasy Tactics, not Squall, Zidane, Tidus or anyone else?

FF7 is the best so shut up. Case closed.

the best, hard 2 say, probably yet to be made smile.gif

but FF7 is legendary indeed

FF7 is the breakthrough game in the FF series that make players all over the world know about the FF series.

Though it is not the first FF game, for many, it might as well be the first FF game ever. Its popularity has been proven.

Definitely FF7 leh.It has the coolest bad guy ever. Not to mention good secret bosses too if you're excluding the ffx international dark aeons and penance.Omega weapon in ff8 could've been the bomb if it were faster.

Before the release of FF12, I stick on FF9 and FFX as the best FF series I ever played...They got soothing music score and good storyline...
Then, after I played FF12 (not finished yet), I was mesmerised by this game a lot. Truly, I think this game was really good...

all righty.
FFVII is popular becuz
1. its one of the first games on the ps that have actuall 3d images *well kinda*
2. this kind of things stick to you and the story was less than satisfactory
3. FF10 had a not too bad story but the last battle with sin spoiled it for me * WTF auto life???*
4.cloud made an appearance in tatics becuz he plays the clueless and overcompensating *the sword get what i mean* very well
5. how the heck can you say that tidus or someother character could be in tatics? heck tatics came out before FF10 if im not mistaken
6.i hate people posting the words shut up
edit
7. forgot this one "drum roll" TIFA'S ASSETS!!!!!! shocking.gif

This is one thing I dont understand about a lot of people. Isnt it obvious that the 'real' final battle was against Jecht?

in your opinion burga but for me the battle with jecht was for tidus
and as for the rest of the story the final battle with sin was part of the whole story
for me i cant just say that the battle where the son frees his father from his torment as the final battle

and btw are you from the same burga from PCGM?

The main thrust of the plot was Tidus' journey of self discovery (and finding about his dad). So yes, Jecht is the final battle either way you look at it. wink.gif

As for your other question, the answer is positive

FF7 is the best for me, since the FF world were opened for u to explore and a lot of submission too, driving the airship flying around is always better than just clicking a spot on the screen and "boom" u r there. This is what i dislike about the FFX and X-2.

The appearance of Cloud in the Kingdom Hearts series and also the Advent Children movie just make him look more cool (especially the KH2 where u get to c the fighting screen of Cloud and Sephiroth). Tifa is also very cute.

FF7 > FF9 > FF8 > FF10 > FFX-2 (for 3D Final Fantasy Series only)

Many ppl cant get the story of FF8, me included but after searching and finding some info, I finally get the meaning of this series, although it is a major spoiler to many ppl, so if u want to know more, pm me biggrin.gif

Back to the topic..

FF6
- Graphic wise, its indeed the best in the time of release (not now ofcourse tongue.gif)
- Gameplay , I have forgotten how many times i played this game, but I can assure u its more than the total time i take to study tongue.gif
- Character / Storyline , the main reason why I think this series is the best. From the "Treasure Hunter" Locke to Shadow to GoGo , I love every single character of the game
- Sidequest , I think it has the most sidequest compare to others, this is relative comparison since I dont really know the exact number, Collosseum battle rocks biggrin.gif

FF7, FF8 ,FFIV, Tactics all come very close to be the best , but FF6 top it off

FFV have a great gameplay (Job system) that is used similarly in T and TA but overall its not that great

FF Tactics Advance is the series I played longer than any others, its very addictive but with a simple-minded stories, its not the best ,but may be the Best Gameplay Award thumbup.gif

FF 1 and 2, no comment, very basic gameplay, remake of this make it worth playing though.

FF3 , still cant get a chance to play it , will try it sooner, NDS here i come! biggrin.gif

the newer FF9,10,12,X-2 is okay but cant be the best , its graphical the best yeah, but what I see in a game its the overall satisfaction, good graphic doesnt mean good game.

FFXIII, from the trailer, its awesome (eye candy as usual),have 3 diff set (XIII,Agito,Versus) and together with PS3 ,maybe the best ff yet , who knows biggrin.gif

Untill today still think FF7 is the best RPG I ever played. The storyline is what I like most.

for me, the order will be:

storywise:
ffx, ff7, ff9, ff8, ffx-2

gameplay wise:
ff9, ff7, ffx, ff8, ffx-2

till now i'm still playing ff9, cuz i really like the battle system and the features in it...ff7 is good as well, as there are also many things to do in the game itself...

let's just hope ffxiii live up to its name and be the next great rpg...

Whats good about FF7 is that the storyline is very interesting..And there are so many things that is hidden which u need to explore..Makes u repeat playing that game even though u finish that very very long gameplay..I still remember myself trying so hard to get that gold coccobo, destroying all those robots(not sure wats their name anymore - emerald, ruby especially)..Hidden character, so many things that are nice..so definitely FF7 the best...

FF9 wasnt that good to me personally..too hard the gameplay.FF8 would come second then FFX and lastly the one that i dislike most, FFX-2...Pointless storyline, weird gameplay and battle style...

My 2 cents....

To me, I love both FF6 and FF7 equally. Both had really good storylines, and both had some real nice sidequests and battle system. FF6 has a bit of an edge with better music and more characters, and of course, the most coolsome villain in all of FF, Kefka!! rclxm9.gif

FF4 was good, with a nice story and nice characters, but hampered by the "old-skool" RPG thinking - too many random battles.

FF5 was excellent!! Loved the job system, it's probably the best system in FF and has been refined in FF Tactics. Also had some very memorable characters, of course the star was Gilgamesh with his awesome music and the very memorable "Excalipur" incident laugh.gif And he kept his promise of "returning" when he returned to FF8 rclxms.gif

FF8 was ok, but hampered by the battle system. The Draw system was sooo tiring, needing you to draw spells, and you only have limited uses.....

FF9 was great. A very memorable story, with FF going back to its "roots" or so to say, with each character having the standard jobs already assigned to them.

FF10.....was ok in parts, but overall kinda lacking the epic feel of other FFs....FFX-2 I won't even mention, since I played 5 minutes of it and dropped it like a bad habit...

thats it my friend, u just said it , I still think Kefka > pretty much every other single villain in the gaming world biggrin.gif his laugh is evil brows.gif

FF8 drawing is tiring but magic in ff8 seems like useless anyway, just to junction for the stats ,not for use, a few spells is cool though like the aura and stuff
Limit Break and normal attack is enough for the game , the gf too is nth but to add ability ,exception, Doomtrain Roxor The Boxor tongue.gif

FF7 revolutionized the series.....but i dont think any of the future series will ever...ever...ever be able to surpass the CLOUD SAGA..........it was like reading a phantasy novel....the others seemed like playing a game....
