i say X, followed closely by VI and VII. IX and X2 comes next. VIII was frankly, very rubbish

I still can't believe that people can overlook FFVIII's many MANY flaws. Boring main character with astonishingly inconsistent behaviour, VERY lousy character development (I seem to remember a 25 min basketball court scene which developed the WHOLE danged party, which was practically the only development we got), the absolutely glacial pace, the total lack of presence of a proper villian, love in space, boring world map, infuriating random encounter rate on world map, annoying draw system...etc. Damn I could go on. Conclusion? It would have made a fine 20-25hr game. At normal FF length, its rubbish.

becuase its intentionally old skool. its like the pre FF7 games, except in 3D.

what's so incomplete about X's ending? The aeon's were gone, the Fayth stopped dreaming and Tidus ceases to exist. Thats it. I dont see any loose threads, unless you want to count that final post credits sequence of Tidus swimming (which should never have been included imo)

I always knew SE would never have had the guts to totally kill off Tidus.

Burga - who likes X2 anyway, but thinks the normal ending is best without Tidus returning.

Nope, there are 5 things to do before you get the extra fmv ending of him coming back. Do the quests inside out and you get an extra post credits uber crappy ingame cinematic.

I wouldnt say its the best, most popular maybe, but not the best.

This is one thing I dont understand about a lot of people. Isnt it obvious that the 'real' final battle was against Jecht?

The main thrust of the plot was Tidus' journey of self discovery (and finding about his dad). So yes, Jecht is the final battle either way you look at it.
