For the existing CBU Serena, does anyone know if there is any discount?

Hi again to everybody here...

Got my CBU Serena last Friday. Done V-Kool tinting and added 2 tweeters to make the sound alive. Wrapped my headlights with transparent stickers (blue stickers not allowed by JPJ). Waiting for the rear spoiler and luggage net from one of our members.

Guess everybody here are family man....but I'm happy being a bachelor with a family MPV. Fits my bigger size and I like the lots of space feeling. Plus driving the Serena makes me feel like Han Solo with his Millennium Falcon. Hehe.

New CKD 2014 Serena is out this week (I think). So for soon to be owners, check it out first. For me...I prefer Japan QC. Higher standards. Plus....I feel very irritated that the back A/C is using lever type. Low class, man!

And for those going to Legoland soon, enjoy. For me..that is a kid's place. So..perhaps next time.

Adios Serena brothers....Drive Safely!

Hi. May I know which VKool options did you take and the price?

I tested the Hybrid CKD High Spec on weekend, overall from an engine perspective don't expect much in terms of power even on a flat road. But I didn't get to drive on a long stretch on the highway, so can't comment on the stability and speed in long run. But I do acknowledge, the back is a little bouncy.

My opinion on whether to go for below, assuming you go with the lower spec just to match each other

2013 CBU - fabric seat, got reverse camera, no roof LCD, RM120K on road with insurance with dealer discount
2014 CKD - fabric seat, no reverse camera, no roof LCD, RM133.5K on road with insurance with year end discount, got spare tyre

So, assuming you want to upgrade 2014 CKD to same spec as 2013 CBU with reverse camera, that will be additiona RM3.3K.

2013 CBU + Reverse Camera is RM123.5K.

So in a way, the difference is RM10K.

For those selecting 2013 CBU, if you want to upgrade leather seat, normally the dealer will get from other accessory shop and not directly from Tan Chong. Tan Chong offer upgrade of RM2.8K.

But I have inquired from several leather upholstery shop, depending on quality and material it can range from RM3.6-RM5.5K.

2013 can get 115k otr.. If want buy facelift, better wait next year. IMO, cbu better. My concern with this car is cvt issue. Others are perfect for my family. Installing cvt cooler wont promise gb no problem in the future..

Just wondering for 2013 CBU owners, did anyone try to ask Tan Chong if you can change/modify to spare tyre instead or repair kit. I heard someone mention he bought the tyre bracket from Japan for RM1K.

I believe the idea for such forum is to ask for reviews, suggestion and offers. Before making any blunt comment on other questions, at least make sure you have the facts rights.

Anyway, for those seeking for deals especially year end deals on Nissan Serena S-Hybrid, the authorized Tan Chong showrooms do offer different level of discount. I have met 3 different showrooms which offers discount from RM2K, RM5K and RM9K. However, most of this discount does not come with the 3 years free service.

Just another update from my search. Those wanting to get nice discount RM5K-RM7K, but manufactured in 2015, delivery after Jan 2015, there are sales agent out there that offers this. But must book in Dec 2014.

Just placed my booking for Serena Hybrid Highway Star (low spec). The price after discount is around RM131K but manufactured 2015 vehicle. Delivery will be on 2nd week Jan.

Was intending to go for the premium spec but after advise from Sales Agent, I took the low spec, but upgraded some features

Reverse camera, dvd, GPS quoted in price list is RM3,300 and 10.1 LCD is RM700. Got both for RM3,200 instead.

That bumped up the price to RM134,200.

Plan to install my security film of choice for RM1,700 which should bring the price to RM135,900.

Still a saving of RM5,600.

Anyway, if you plan to go for leather seat, the quote price is RM2,800 but you can get RM1,900 instead. Also got some freebies like SmartTag and Full Tank.

Let me know if anyone is interested and I will forward to you the contact. But he made it clear to act by 15 Dec as he won't be able to promise 2015 manufactured date.

QUOTE(kojico @ Dec 14 2014, 03:15 PM)
hi all, just sharing & hope for advise if any member encounter before.

Bought my hybrid in Nov 2013. Some problems encountered so far :
1. Last 2 months radiator fan kaput. Towed back TCM replaced FOC. No reason provided.
2. Windscreen water sprinkler not working although water full. Have not sent for repair yet.
3. For the past 1 week encountered loud sound when accelerating (wooOOO)...its so obvious and also weak (need to accelerate more) & fuel consumption increased. Previously no such issue. Just short of 20K maintenance. Hope it will solve this.

Not sure why CBU has these problems within 1 year.

I guess the common conception of a CBU build quality is better is not really true nowadays. Now, we can only wait to see if CKD will act up after a while.

Any notable difference? More fuel consumption over performance.

Just got my Serena year manufactured 2015. Looks like the Serena sale is brisk as a few Lowyat members who went through my Sales Agent is unable to get the type of discount offered as of 2015.

Just a recap, in end 2014, I got RM8K discount for 2015 model. However, in Jan 2015, the offer is only RM6K discount for 2015 model. No more 2014 model stock.

Worse still, my Sales Agent mention the likelihood of price increase next week. I didn't ask why, but I suspect like Volkswagen, who have recently increase their price around RM2-4K due to Ringgit depreciation against the Dollar. Also perhaps the uncertainty of impending GST.

Navigator Question

Anyone here have the TCAT navigator installed. I'm having trouble to preset the preferred radio station to the soft button 1, 2, 3 and subsequent.

Driver Seat Belt Lock

For those sitting on driver seat, do you face the problem whereby the belt lock is incline towards the body, constantly nudging the left buttock cheek which is rather uncomfortable. Only after raising the seat to maximum, the belt lock is much align to the seat which reduces the discomfort. However, I'm not liking it as it feels rather high.

Unstable Cornering
I know this is rather obvious due to the narrow and high body of the MPV, but do you face a problem whereby the car feels like under steer and floating when driving through a rather big corner or curve at around 80kph. Not referring to a roundabout kind of small radius.

Just wondering besides this forum and FB group, is there an active community like Waze community or Whatsapp community we can contribute ideas in real-time.

the club was set up by few owners to talk about driving it up and down... nothing techie... basically for me it's like all those fan based clubs instead of serious car clubs.

Weird. Thought members here who created such group just wants to share their experience. Any volunteer then who wants to recreate a new group.
