dear all bro, got one question, if i receive monthly payment from tnb for this solar project, should i declare this income to Lembaga hasil? or keep silent?
*
IMHO, govt should not tax our solar earning. The Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water was said to have supported the idea but Ministry of Finance disagreed, hence the solar income is taxable.

this is a great disincentive for going green. not only one has to invest quite a considerable amount, the income is taxable.

Govt of Malaysia, please curb wastage of public funds before asking for my sunshine income.

sorry for my ranting......

Dear forummers,

The Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water announced that the application for FiT quota will be released on 2 May 2014. There will be 10MW available under "Individual" category (approx. 2,500 homes if each home is 4 kW).

There will be a mad scramble for the quota by the Service Providers. The cleverer ones will set up office, even temporary one in Cyberjaya or have access through high speed network to submit the applications for their clients. I think individuals who try to submit their own applications will not stand a chance of even getting through the SEDA servers.

so if you are still considering whether to go solar or not, you better hurry up. if you miss this round, it will be next year, with lower FiT rate.

cheers,

arjunaidi

Today is the opening of the e-FiT online system. This is the start of a 10-day window for registered service providers to submit their clients info to get a queue no for the eligible applicants.

As a reminder to all, the rules of the game:

1. Application must be submitted only through a Service Provider registered with SEDA.

2. Applications made via more than one SP will be disqualified.

3. Applications must be true, complete and correct. SEDA will neither seek clarifications nor entertain appeals.

Pls contact me if you have any questions.

anyone know when the quota will release?

Currently SEDA is accepting applications for solar PV quota but not releasing the quota yet.

Key dates for solar PV applications up to 12 kWp for individuals :

02 - 12 May 2014 at 5:00pm - Window for uploading applicant profiles by registered service provider

19 May 2014 10:00am - 5:00pm - Secure queue no for qualified applicants

20 May 2014 - Allocation of quotas by SEDA

When it is released, you can view the availability live http://seda.gov.my/?omaneg=000101000000010...000000000&s=160

If you are interested to apply, there is still time. Remember, SEDA rules require application to be submitted only by a registered service provider.

cheers,

Arjunaidi

Just seen at SEDA website. I didn't like the part about balloting. it is coming close to being a lottery draw :-(

On 27th May 2014, while service providers were applying for queue numbers for individual applications, the e-FiT online system had to be suspended at 1.17 pm because of technical problems which were initially suspected to be linked to a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack. However, investigations have revealed the problem was due to too many applicants trying to log-in, resulting in intense network congestion. As such, the Authority would like to confirm that the data in the e-FiT online system was not compromised in any way.

At the point of system suspension, more than 1000 queue numbers were successfully allocated to the FiA applications based on first-come-first-serve basis. Quota will be assigned to the first 1000 queue numbers amounting to a total capacity of approximately 8 MW by today (29th March 2014). The remaining queue numbers which did not manage to secure any quota will be given priority in the next quota release, as would the remaining individual applications which did not secure any queue number. For future allocation of queue numbers, SEDA Malaysia is considering using a computerised balloting system to prevent recurrence of the traffic congestion and resulting technical problems. The balloting is proposed to be conducted by a neutral third party, under public observation, to ensure transparency.

Is income form FIT taxable?
*
from SEDA FAQ (highly recommended reading) http://www.seda.gov.my/?omaneg=00010100000...000000000&s=171

Yes, it is taxable income and any exemptions would require a policy decision from the Government. KeTTHA will monitor the progress of renewable energy growth in the country and conduct necessary analyses before putting forth any policy recommendations on this matter.

your service provider should inform you or you could have received an email from SEDA. do check your junk mail box, too.

Your SMA Sunnyboy inverter should have a bluetooth connection.

Download the Sunnyboy Explorer app (it's free) onto a PC or laptop with bluetooth connectivity.

You will be able to check daily, month and yearly generation from the graph charts in the app.
*
the downside of Sunny Explorer is that you can only use it when you are within bluetooth radio range of the inverter. for accessing SMS inverter statistics from anywhere, you need an SMA Webbox. Then you can view the stats from Sunny Portal.

Depends on ur installed capacity...n it's in the contract...I even can't remember mine

It's in the table "Declared Annual Availability" in MWh. That's the max TNB will pay for each of the 21 years in the Renewable Energy Power Purchasing Agreement.

anybody enlighten me on the declared annual availability (MWh) on the fia cert??  how to count given those figures?
*
Declared Annual Availability = capacity (in MW) x 3.2 x 365 days where 3.2= Peak Sun Hours

In most cases, the first year and final year DAA are pro-rated depending on when the PV system is commissioned and when the 21 year contract expires.

DAA is the maximum solar PV output that TNB will pay the FiAH in that year, based on the installed PV capacity.

peak sun hours
Web definitions

The equivalent number of hours per day when solar irradiance averages 1,000 w/m2. For example, six peak sun hours means that the energy received during total daylight hours equals the energy that would have been received had the irradiance for six hours been 1,000 w/m2.

IS that your installation date or your system commissioning date? Your SI needs to book TNB engineer's time to do Testing & Commissioning.

URGENT & IMPORTANT!

announcement from SEDA http://www.seda.gov.my/?omaneg=00010100000...000&y=45&s=3972

Putrajaya, 12th August 2014: Due to the overwhelming response for individual PV quota for 2014 during the recent release, SEDA has decided to award the quotas for both 2014 and 2015 to all eligible applicants who applied. As such there will be NO MORE new releases of individual PV quota for 2014 or 2015, and the public is cautioned not to be duped by unscrupulous parties who claim to be able to secure quota for these years.
